  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) this is all that i will say about this silly, silly arguement, but AJ, crede, Cabrera, Uribe have never had an obp of .343 in an entire season let alone had an obp of .343 while hitting 24 HRs, meanwhile swisher is having a down year and those are his #s.... in addition it doesnt appear as if ramirez will ever have an obp north of .330 either, but at least he hits extra base hits and appears as if he can hold a .330 obp (though im skeptical that he will continue to hit .300 in the future) OBP IS NOT THE SAME AS BATTING AVERAGE. Walks are really nice, I like hitters who take walks. But it looks like you are saying that Swish is a better hitter just because his OBP is higher. Walks don't drive in runs. Those players are without question better hitters than Swish (other than Uribe) until Swish bats .260. He's just no good right now, .228 with a .600 on base isn't good enough. You have to be able to hit to be good.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Uribe (and crede when he was healthy), AJ, cabrera, are all inferior hitters....in addition konerko has been roughly equivalent, and probably a tad worse this year...and alexei is similar IMO Other than Uribe, those are all better hitters than swisher.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) His Arb clock isn't an issue, anyone who says otherwise is either full of s*** or knows nothing about the process. Agreed. I'd like to see him up here.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) Yeah, not even mad at him for that, as at least he took a pitch and had a good approach. A lot of hate for OC on Soxtalk, but he has the most fundamental approach at the plate of any Sox hitter.
  5. Someone did in fact lose their job over this pick.

Any Chicagoans ever hear of Matt Robinson? He plays solo as well as for bands The Stoneflys, Treetop Affair, and The Memory Girl. My cousin.

    QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) Phillip Seymour Hoffman...
  8. Can't get chat to work with Google Chrome.
  9. Can't hit into a DP here, which is a plus.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Blue Jays are close to having 4 homers so far. Close, but no cigar. Richard's done alright since that first miss. He's actually hit some spots.
  11. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) I just got home, how did the jays score? leadoff bomb.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) I'd love to see Depp as the Riddler. I never was a fan of the Penguin character. I don't know if I would like this series of Batman films to go down the path like the previous series with multiple villains. Clogs things up IMO. I agree completely. I'm interested in Depp as the Riddler, but I do not like the penguin character at all. I'm also with you that multiple villains aren't necessary or desired.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) He is hitting .228 I suppose the fact that he hit the walk off home run in the extra inning game and had a nice game Saturday alleviates the .228 average becasue he does draw the timely walk. Nick Swisher is not a good hitter. To get called out on strikes like he has tells me he is not a good hitting. I suppose the singing and the dancing make up for it though. The line Hawk uses "Don't tell me what you do, tell me when you do it," could be the dumbest line ever. A .330 hitter is more useful than a .230 hitter no matter when they get the big hit. Sorry to hurt your feelings by thinking Nick Swisher sucks because I really think he does and the .228 batting average and below average defense back me up. OPS!!!1!11!ONE!!

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) Johnny Depp and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Riddler and Penguin? Two extremely talented actors, I can't picture it just yet, but they could probably pull it off with the all the talent between the two.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) This is the way I understand it: You are eligible for the post-season roster if you were on the 25 man roster (including the DL) on Aug 31. So, for example, Contreras and Crede are eligible. Now, since Crede may be done for the year, the active roster for the playoffs would only have 24 guys plus 1 (Crede) who is on the DL. Since that is the case we have one open spot which can be filled by any person who was on the Sox's 40 man roster on Aug 31. That was how K-Rod was eligible several years ago. Its a loophole to the rule. I thought you could only replace DL'ed players with players of the same position.
  16. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) http://cbs2chicago.com/local/chicago.summe...s.2.810166.html wow. is it currently safer to be a US troop in Iraq than a citizen of our fine city? I don't know for sure, but I don't think there are nearly as many soldiers in Iraq as people in Chicago.
  17. Swisher didn't swing because he was fooled by the movement of the pitches, not because they were actually balls.
  18. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Swisher is just a bad hitter, he can walk, and has power, but shouldn't be up, trying to bring a guy home from 2nd. Griff should have hit in that spot.
  19. Swish, who is normally better off with the bat on his shoulder anyway.
  20. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) K-rod with as good of a change up today as ive seen him have...throw that in there with the slider and fastball he has...filthy That's one of the nastiest changes I've seen.
  21. That changeup was just filthy. If he wants to throw all his stuff for strikes, nobody will have a chance.
  22. Man in position for Swish.
  23. That breaking ball is sick.
  24. Paulie really wants to carry us.
