  1. The wait is over Sox fans. Tonight, there will be a Championship Banner lowered on the Southside of Chicago. Believe it or not, but, our Chicago White Sox are defending champions in 2006. My question to you: How are you spending this glorious day? Although I won't be at tonight's game, I'll most certainly be there in spirit. For me, it looks like watching Game Four of the 2005 World Series in its entirety, followed by the lowering of the Championship Banner on CSN at 6:00, capped off with the first game of our title defense--C.C. Sabathia v. Mark Buehrle. Are you fortunate enough to be attending tonight's game? Are you getting together with all your Sox buddies? Are you maybe watching the game with your parents or the people responsible for making you the Sox fan you are today? Let's Go, Go, Go White Sox! Our White Sox
  2. Amazing per usual, Goldy. It's the perfect way to kick off 2006. It was great seeing that to start my day of White Sox debauchery.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) Contreras' sig is now on the bottom line, no contract distractions this year whatsoever. Very nice. They are playing it one year at a time, no need to worry about McCarthy, lots of things can happen after 2006. McCarthy is a huge part of the future, they love him, and he will pitch a lot. Cost certainty. The best six-man rotation in baseball. Play ball.
  4. Cost Cer-tain-ty Clap-Clap-Clap--Clap--Clap Cost Cer-tain-ty Clap-Clap-Clap--Clap-Clap I guarantee you this was one of those things that wasn't necessarily planned at the onset of the off-season, but with Jose agreeing to ink a deal at less than $10M per in today's market, Kenny goes with the cost certainty and views this as a can't-pass-up type of signing. My guess is you'll see Brandon or one of the other starting pitchers moved at the trade-deadline if/when holes start to appear on the 25-man roster.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) Usually, FTP clients don't edit the files that they upload, so one adding the date there doesn't make much sense. f*** if I know. Just wanted to chime in.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Wait.. the second picture says it was taken at 11 AM. What the hell is he doing drinking at 11 AM, or did he drink throughout the night? That looks like it could be the date the picture was uploaded. Those don't look like numbers from a digital camera.
  7. I find the writing styles of Guillen, Konerko, and Thome to be strikingly similar. Who'd have guessed it?
  8. I'm flying her out tomorrow morning to tour the facilities. If things work out, she'll be leaving with a contract offer.
  9. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Even as I am on the look out for arms to help the sox, I get the sneaky suspicion none of these guys mentioned are the answer. I know no one is expecting these castoffs to help the sox more than Politte, Cotts or Jenks. And that these names are being thrown about in case of injuries these guys. But watching BMac, Logan and Thornton throw today, I came away feeling much better about how the sox bullpen is shaping up. BMac should be nasty coming from the pen with his 3 strong pitches. And if one of Logan or Thornton can pull a Vizcaino [eat innings, keep the sox in games and get a big out occasionally, all with an under 4.00 ERA] the sox should be in good shape. In the end, I think Williams, Hahn, and co. are thinking along those lines as well; so, my guess is this is all moot. Thornton has been looking awfully better. Even when he was having those rough outings, he still appeared to make some nice pitches in some tough spots. I'm ready to go. Play ball.
  10. She doesn't read the Enquirer. It's a "poor-people's" magazine.
  11. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 29, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) What about Brian Gorman!!? ARE YOU NUTS!!! Are you nuts? Just remembered that. That was priceless.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) This silo is legendary around my parts. ...Iowa must suck.
  13. Thome is clicking at exactly the right time. I know I've said this a million times, but, he's going to be a frickin' ball to watch this year.
  14. So, if I heard correctly, Podsednik is done with ST at-bats and is looking to be ready for opening night? Also, the two in the booth are off their game. In the ten minutes I've been half-listening, they've sounded awful. Get this team to Chicago.
  15. 1) Go to espnradio1000.com 2) Get over to the Silvy and Carm site 3) Scroll down and all three are on their main page
  16. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 27, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Rotation: Buehrle Garcia Contreras Garland Vazquez Bullpen: Thornton McCarthy Logan Politte Cotts Jenks Lineup: Podsednik Iguchi Thome Konerko Dye Pierzynski Crede Uribe Anderson Bench: Cintron Gload Mackowiak Ozuna Widger Play ball.
  17. Well, that has to be the story of the spring. I take some solace in having a pitcher with MLB experience waiting in Charlotte to step in if this rookie s***s the bed. Throw strikes, get left-handers out, and we'll be fine.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) One thing you guys will have to think about is, where would Nelson want to play? He has lots of history in NY and the Mets are looking for help. The fact that he tried out for St. Louis tells me he's willing to play in the midwest and the Cardinals are a good team so it appears he prefers a contender. And at age 39 that makes sense. I doubt he goes to a bottom feeder team just to keep playing. I've always liked Nelson and it looks like he can still get guys out but I think the odds are very slim they'd risk Ozuna or even Thornton, despite all the SoxTalk Thornton hate going on. I still maintain they didn't pick this guy up after wanting him for two years only to risk losing him. It will come down to two things, would Nelson want to play here and do the White Sox have room for his role, which is basically a RH specialist, his niche is going one inning maximum as I recall. You have him nailed perfectly as a right-handed specialist. The guy is murder on right-handers. But, so quick to discount your own offer? If he continues to work at his current rate, Logan has a nice career in front of him in major league baseball. The kid never pitched above High A, he has a ton of options left, and I'd have no reservations sending him back to the farm. That leaves us with? You guessed it. Nelson + Thornton /Nelsonmugshotavatar
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) NelsonTalk.com has begun! And I can't help but agree with it. This is the second installation of NelsonTalk for yours truly. I wanted him last year when there were talks of him signing a minor leauge contract. A week or so later, he signed with the M's. If we're serious about bringing in someone for that spot, serious about bringing one of these guys cut in another camp, the search ends tonight. That said, I'm just not feeling it. Thornton has no options left, Logan gets the LOOGY role, Thornton's fate is decided when Hermanson is off the shelf.
  20. Nelson. Period. This is it. I hate playing armchair GM, but, if I were in Kenny's shoes, I'd have Nelson touring the facilities tomorrow morning.
