  1. St. Louis doesn't have those kind of dollars but I'd imagine teams like The Mets, Yanks, Sawx, and Rangers will offer that deal. I agree that its good for Houston. If this forces Bagwell into retirement, they will save like $35 million in payroll just fromt hsoe two next year
  2. IF they can move Lowe, its a slightly better deal ebcause he is older, has a longer deal, and makes more money. Lowe is the perfect pitcher for the park in Philly too. IF its Penny, its still not a bad deadl but probably not quite as good. Plus, if they do Lowe, they probably odn't have to have many cash considerations. Makes sens fro both sides. What do the Phils want to do in right if they move Bobby? Jason Michaels?
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) We saw him once last year, and Rowand hit one about 900 feet. He's 38 and has no fastball anymore, and the Indians are WAY overpaying. Bring him on. He hasn't had a fastball in awhile but he doesn't need one. He's the Maddux of closers in a way
  4. Great trade by Arizona. If, and this is not high in probability, they can get the pen healthy then Lyon, Bruney, Valverde, and Aquino can be nice parts. I still have no clue why they gave up on Casey Fossum so quickly though
  5. Yeah this seems like a steal for the Red Sox to me because Loretta can hit at a bad offensive position while Mirabelli is a backup. Will they be able to find a defender that can catch Wake? If Mirabelli were to be a 120 game catcher this would make more sense but I think Big Mo holds him off
  6. Good move by the Royals in terms of at least trying to get back to 70-75 wins
  7. I kinda like this deal for both teams. Brazelton is a real talent and needed a change of scenery while Burroughs still has a chance to be a nice player. GOod trade all around I'd say
  8. Todd Walker for Renteria? I think Boston would take him back but its hard to tell with a 26-man General Manager at this point
  9. Is Mercedes Lewis the next Tony Gonzalez or Ricky Dudley? His numbers are truly impressing. Sounds like he'll be a top 15 pick with his size and speed
  10. Bad news for a localy guy, its too bad and a real shame-condolences
  11. Correct no brainer although this is obviously only hypothetical. You have to take proven over possible, especailyl when it comes to contracts and age being non-factors. IF I'm Willis and Cabrera-I'm not trading away my free agent years to sign an extension. I'm just riding out my arbitration years if I am them and getting the F out of there
  12. If you take on the contract, a big if, you don't have to give up much to get Renteria. They regret that signing. Renteria would give the Cubs a two-hole hitter but if they trade for Renteria they will surely go with in-house options in the corners which could get ugly.
  13. It really depends on what Pierre they are getting. If they get last years version, it might not be such a great trade but if he can get back to hitting 326-it looks much better. He steals his bases either way btu he'll obviously steal more bases if he gets more hits this year (his walks probably won't fluctuate).
  14. People here have been kocking Hendry a ton (not everybody) for his job as a gm over the last few years but this looks like another steal from the Marlins given that the Cubs got to keep Hill. I wish we could have landed Pierre but he was a luxury, not a necessity
  15. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) wow jays are going at free agency strong, they have improved their pitching, now all they need is a hitter and they r set They are improved but I htink they are more than a bat away. Even if all their pitching is as good as it could be, they need some more oomph in that lineup
  16. Wasn't Billy Murphy the highly touted futures game pitcher that struggled last year? Like I said, 50G's in baseball is nothing, its just a matter of space to keep them through ST
  17. You can always take the guy and pay 50 grand and just send him back for 25 after spring training if he can't make the bug club
  18. If Abreu were 25, then the trade would be far more intriguing as he'd be entering his prime and would likely not make a ton of money yet but age/cost prevent that. Plus, how bad would the Cubs look if Prior becomes the next ROger Clemens after they traded him? Would not be good ofr them
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) If Toronto can even add a decent bat they might be a team to reckon with.... but its not like the yanks or redsox improved hell if redsox lose Manny/Damon they could be worse. They desperately need Alexis Rios to find the power stroke scouts think he'll develop because that lineup has some solid complimentary players but no real foundation piece
  20. www.csac.biz gerneally gives you a good idea of what is coming up, although the information is only complete starting one week before otherwise you ahve to pay
  21. You cant trade Prior if you are the Cubs. WOod yes, Prior pretty much no except for guys like Miggy Carbera, Pujols an d a few otehrs who aren't going anywhere.
  22. I don't think BUrroughs makes any real money, he's an arb guy I think
  23. I thought that Burnett needed to go to the right spot-he needed to be teamed up with a Dave Duncan or Rick Peterson or Orel Hersheiser. I just don't see things working out in Toronto for him overall. Halladay-Burnett-Lilly-Chacin-Towers is pretty good assuming they tender Lilly, don't trade Chacin, and they stay healthy which is a big if-although Halladay will probably be back to a full season of health.
  24. Marquis for Vazquez makes sense for both sides unless the Cardinals decide to save Marquis to use him in exchange for a bat
  25. Is it possible, and I have no basis for this, that like Podsednik-Crawford is a guy in center who you will like less the more you watch him play there? I'm sure he has Pods great closing speed but what about jumps? Just curious
