4/19 Gamethread: Sox (10-6) at Rays (7-10); 6:10; WGN

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) Yeah, but since this game is at 7 EST, it should still be shown. Does WGN usually get picked up on Extra Innings, for future reference? Is this just one of those flukes? Yes, games on WGN are usually on my extra innnings package. -
Ray Durham is batting cleanup for the Giants today.

I think Saturday games that start before a set time are not allowed to be shown on extra innings because of Fox's exclusive contract. -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 12:47 AM) I was looking at this to get started. http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--IBAIJV50 That guitar is fine to learn on and you definitely want to get a tuner. The problem with guitars like that is they are made in China or Korea and boxed up and they sent over on a boat and then they sit in a warehouse for who knows how long and then you buy it online and nobody has checked it out. So the neck my be all out of whack and the string height may be too high to play comfortably. I'm not trying to talk you out of buying it, but you should know that you may need to have it adjusted and that could cost you $25-50 depending on what it needs and where you take it. It is very important that the guitar is set up properly especially when you are beginning, otherwise it will be uncomfortable to play and hurt your fingers and you wind up not wanting to play it because of that.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) is it normal for it to happen 5 hours later though? I have no idea, but I know when the New Madird goes, it will be ugly.

I just felt something too, maybe aftershock?

How many bases can Joe Cowley steal on AJ?

Good clip, let's get Pratt up there against Floyd next. -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 02:12 AM) So I'm thinking about learning to play the guitar. I don't need anything really good, I've never played before, I'm more concerned about the price at this point. What's a reasonable price for an acoustic guitar? I've seen some deals for $100 (including bag and tuner). Is that decent? A $100 guitar is fime to learn on, but you should know that there is a good chance that the action will be high which makes it uncomfortable to play. Also, if you practice and stick with it, you will probably want to upgrade before too long. If you can take somebody who plays guitar with you when you shop, that person could play it and make sure the strings are at a comfortable height. I agree with Strange Sox and recommend finding a decent used guitar. There are guitars sitting in closets all over the country. You would not believe how many people want to learn to play guitar, but don't want to actually put the effort into it. Unerstand that you will be absolutely awful when you start, and that practice is the only way to improve. I would also look into lessons, $15-20 per half hour lesson is pretty reasonable, but that can vary depending on where you live.

I didn't get to see the game, did Contreras do anything differently tonight that made him more effective? I saw some highlights, so I saw he had his good splitter tonight. Was he throwing much sidearm?

QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) Anybody with the arm and athleticism to play 3B and the ability to play LF at a reasonable level can play RF. I think Fields in RF would be a nightmare. He may be able to learn the position, but I think it would be a long and painful transition.
-
WCSox, you've mentioned a couple of time Fields can play RF. What makes you think that? Has he ever played there?

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) Who would vote no?? Probably just people who think he deserves two statues.

I've never been to it, but I don't like the looks of all those TBAs, especially headlining Fri & Sat night. I would have to see who filled those slots before I'd buy a ticket, unless you really like the other bands.
-
I don't think it would be a bad idea to let Alexei & Richar play middle infield together in AAA for a while. They may be doing it for the big team next year.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 03:21 AM) Has anyone else aside from myself never sneezed more than one time in a row? It's always one and done with me. This is something I first noticed a long time ago, but it wasn't until today that I was reminded. You will probably be jealous that I almost always sneeze three times.

Liriano returns today.

Didn't something like this happen a long time ago with Fred?

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) No reason for Ozzie to state this in the media. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjrV...p&type=lgns I was just reading the article about that on the Sox site. Even if the guy does have a vendetta, I don't think any good can come out of talking about it.

How are a lot of people in Cuba able to watch the game? I couldn't watch tonight's game and I bought the Extra Innings package.

The Sox dropped more than seven in a row in '05 didn't they?

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) Bleached blonde looks wayy better...trust me. Are you guys still talking about the bullpen?
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) This would seem to be more of JR/Ozzie's department than Kenny's but yeah if they're going to have rules regulating the length of the player's hair then you'd think JR would step in when over a quarter of his bullpen has gone amish. Damn, did you make that sig? It's frickin' sweet.
