Very studly. Knowing Kenny, he'll probably try to trade for Felix Hernandez to fill our 5th's starters role.

Sox Acquire Jake Peavy for Richard, Poreda, Russell, Carter
nitetrain8601 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I personally don't like this at all. Peavy's paid a ton, showed that he didn't want to come here earlier in the season, and has been hurt. No bueno, IMO. Maybe he thought about it, spoke a little more with Linebrink and such, talked it over with his family, and was presented with an opportunity again. It's possible. -

Buehrle Peavy Danks Floyd Contreras That's a damn good rotation! -
Well according to Soxtalk over the past couple of years, Washburn blows balls and Orlando was vastly overrated. So if that's the case, we shouldn't have to make a move, right Soxtalk?

Manny and Big Papi tested positive for steroids in 03
nitetrain8601 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) ESPN cries. I've suspected Kevin Millar back then as well. Damon? Me too. He was never the same after that year. Damon is a good bet too. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) I'd be shocked if Kent was clean, frankly. Innocent until proven guilty is a nice ideal, but rather unrealistic in this toxic environment. The news on Papi is the biggest non-surprise of the year. The man has the largest skull I've ever seen. It wasn't that big when he was a Twinkie. The revelations about Manny were much more surprising to me, personally, because he put up great numbers prior even to the dawn of the so-called steroid era. I now believe he was one of the "pioneers", relatively speaking. I honestly could go either way on Kent, but I will wait until there's actually solid evidence. A guy who's such a strong advocate against steroids(probably as much as Frank was) has to be proven to me. Honestly, I always thought Manny was one of the big ones simply because in 1996, he was such a good hitter, but he wasn't anywhere as huge as he is now. And that whole baggy jersey thing just covered the fact. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Another thing I'd really like to know is how and why these names are being leaked, who's doing the leaking, and why they're being leaked one by one. My conjecture is that the leaker or leakers are being paid - HANDSOMELY - and that there's more money in it for them by doing it this way. Some dirty dealing is going on, that's for certain. Probably because of the money. I thought I read somewhere on RealGM though that these two names were leaked via various lawyers who were part of the process. -
White Sox Interested in Trading Fields for Pie
nitetrain8601 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Honestly, I think the reason why Brian stuck around longer than most people thought he would is because Kenny really liked him and minus his first full year here, he made good cases to stay on the roster. I don't think Ozzie liked BA's partying ways his first year because it didn't seem like he was ready the next day, but he toned that down. Still, once your in Ozzie's doghouse, it's hard to get out. Kenny though kept him because he saw what a lot of us saw. Excellent defense who you could hide in a lineup with so much thump. Ozzie didn't really care for him, but BA changed. A ton of the vets didn't care for him his rookie year, but I heard even PK liked him so much and they all would miss him in the clubhouse when he was traded. This is about Fields though. Honestly, I don't think Walker is the right hitting coach for Pie. Can anyone tell me who has he ever been successful with as far as young players go? I can't think of many. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Has Kent ever been caught? I don't think he used steroids, personally. He didn't have all too much of a build it seemed. Plus he was active against steroids on a near-Thomas level throughout his career, not that that makes him innocent. Agreed. You can't put guys there just because you think they took steroids. It's like someone saying they think Frank Thomas juiced and add him to a list. They have as much credibility as you. I don't remember Bagwell being linked, but he may have. Does anyone remember? -
Wasn't he just drafted last year? Amazing. They do have a lot of pitching, but still, you want to trade an Alderson for a guy who's a superstar.

I have no beef with them since I don't drive, but with that said, when I lived on the Northside last year, I'd see a ton of cycling accidents, especially when it was raining, particularly by the ramp for the highway.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson passes away at the age of 66. Sad. We lose one of the best defensive coordinators maybe ever. He definitely is up there with Monte. -
I'm surpised they pulled the Fields experiment this early, especially after he did pretty damn well his rookie year. I would've kept him at least until we saw what we did with Thome, Dye, and Podsednik along with Beckham, Alexi and Getz.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) My dad runs into Wade's father and only family members once in a while in the South Suburbs Your dad's father may want to run in Wade's father to explain to him he needs to run into GarPax's father and let them know Wade won't leave Miami as long as they put a decent team around him because the Bulls are under the impression that they could get Wade. -

Meh, the trade of a 7'1 injury prone pogo stick whom OKC has been trying to unload on anyone who listens for an injury prone 6'10 PF playing C who has 3 years more on his contract. On paper, it looks like a big deal. When it counts, these guys aren't much. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I was talking about their games against the Bears at Soldier Field. If you remember, Vick got his ass handed to him in that game back in 05 where it was like -10. I think that had more to do with the teams than the individual player. As stated twice, no problem winning in Lambeau. Honestly, I don't think weather makes that much of a difference to him. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) It's Bosh or Amare for the Bulls after this season. Wade is not coming to Chicago!! Wade and Bosh were the Bulls' number 1 targets dating back to last summer when they started thinking 2010. Bosh was considered more of the pipe dream, but Wade was not though. With that said, like I said previously, if the Heat bring Odom, Wade is staying, pure and simple. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) Bosh was always the best fit. I don't believe a guy you want as a low post threat loves the faceup game and to shoot more than posting up. -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) The PPV was VERY meh. Big Show as Jericho's partner was underwhelming, it was a good match but I don't like Big Show being in a spotlight. Christian wins the ECW strap...very basic match, seemed like they just went through the motions. McCool/Melina was actually one of the better matches of the night. US title 6-pack match was fun. Kofi retains. Mickie/Maryse was very poor. Maryse has plenty of work to do, luckily she's hot as all hell. HHH/Orton/Cena was probably the best match of the night, the finish was interesting...only bad thing is we're guaranteed a match involving at least 2 of these 3 for Summerslam. Ziggler/Mysterio was good, it was a shame that it had to follow the divas title debacle. Punk/Hardy was good...I hope to see Punk win it back soon though, not only as a Punk mark...but I think it sucks that he's had 2 title runs now & not a significant victory in either run. I thought Big Show and Jericho worked really well which is weird considering I hate Big Show. I think WCW used him best when he was first introduced. Cristian's match was okay. Not too shabby, but nothing too crazy either. They should've brought out kendo sticks, barbed wire, something! McCool and Melina was probably the second best match. Usually that means the PPV sucked. In this case, they put on a hell of a show and actually seemed like they were going at each other. Better than half the matches on this card. US Title Match was really good, but Kofi needs a more devastating finisher. Maryse was god awful. Like terrible. I also don't find what's so damn hot about her. She has decent boobs, no ass and I guess she has a pretty face with makeup. Ziggler and Mysterio was a really good match. Ziggler definitely has a future. The triple threat was really good. I love how Philly absolutely hates Cena though. Pink and Hardy was good, but both definitely have a transitional champ feel to them. -

If they get Odom, Wade will stay. If they do, Bulls are going to be left out in the cold and end up with Joe Johnson at best. -
Honestly, I'd leave out Floyd and give up Jordan Danks(since we have Jered Mitchell), Flowers(I see him as a 1B/DH with Viciedo already there) Poreda(still am waiting for that 97mph fastball) and two lower level prospects for Haren.

We can't win the division with the 4/5 pitchers we have

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) That is called pulling an '05 version of Marte. Difference is Marte was shortarming his pitches for some dumb reason. That and Ozzie mentally broke him down as he wasn't used to having an in your face manager. Notice how he went to Pittsburgh he got more relaxed. He went to New York, and it started over again. -
Game 1, 2, 27, 49, 54, 98, 99, 105, 110, 122, 136, 139, 158, 162, 163

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) Definitely. With Lisa Dergan on his arm personally delivered from Mark Buehrle. Honestly, I hope he gets something really good and I will cheer for him like crazy next time I'm at a home game and he plays. If he deserved boos before, he definitely deserves applause.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) I'm starting to think that you and some others were wishing he botched that catch just so you can rip him even more and I say "I told you he sucks". No. As a guy, he's pretty cool. He's never complained and always went about his business. As a ballplayer, there's a lot more I wish he could do. As far as dropping the catch, heck no. I would never wish for someone to mess up a perfect game to prove a point. Not a no hitter, a shutout, nothing. I will always root for the team and anyone on it. Do I prefer Brian to him? Yes, but as I also said in a couple of threads, who cares if Brian would've had it since Wise made the catch and Buehrle threw a perfect game.

Sox should jump on that honestly. I don't see Pods keeping up the production, but I would love to be wrong and have a logjam in the OF. It's a good problem to have.
