Auburn was retarded in firing Tubby. There's no one out there who you can say is better. Saban now owns the state of AL because of that firing.

Predict the 2009 White Sox Payroll
I'll say right around 90 million. I cannot forsee us signing any FA. The only one who I think would make a difference with us is Manny, but that ain't happening.

Cabrera offered arbitration
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) THATS a major benefit since Cowley is such a homo. Also, I would still keep Getz at 2B and move Alexei to CF if it was my team. Getz's contact and OBP is more valuable in the lineup than anything BA could bring. Alexei+Getz is better than Alexei and BA. I agree. I really liked what I saw out of Getz so I want him to get a good shot.

Good. He's a fiery guy we need. Someone with some flare who won't be afraid to tell it like it is. I want him to piss off Cowley as well.

Bobby Frasor > * He should've went to Illinois where he would get PT though. He basically screwed up going to UNC like Sean Dockery did going to Duke and to some extent, Jon Scheyer.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) So you think ratings are more important than the talent on the field? I dont think Ala is very good, that is all. I don't, but I do feel Alabama is the better team. They rose all the way to the top for a reason.

Official 2008-2009 College Basketball Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) What? Clemson wasn't in the positon to piss anything away. It was Illinois that succeeded in pissing away a win with stupid turnovers, poor defense, and a terrible last possession. My thoughts on the game: If McCamey has dreams of the NBA, he better start playing like he cares. He's the laziest "star" player i've ever seen. Just imagine if he had a little bit of Dee Brown and Frank Williams in him. He'd be the best guard in the conference, and one of the best in the country. Mike Davis...well, he showed a lot, but I'd say 80% of his shots were terrible in terms of form. His body never gets squared to the basket and his upper body always seem to be in front of his feet when he shoots. But whatever - he makes shots and he plays with emotion. I'll take that any day. Tisdale showed me enough last year that he'll be a solid 3-4 year guy. I dunno about the NBA (I dunno that any of these guys will be in the NBA) but I think by his senior year he'll be like one of those white dudes up in Wisky (can't remember their names...the one specifically I'm thinking of had the tuba player girlfriend they always showed on TV) - good to great conference big men. Last night he seemed to be plagued by the McCamey syndrome - lack of emotion and mentally checked out. Chester Frazier. Ugh. I hated you so much these last few years, but I see why Weber continues to play you and I'm beginning to change my opinion of you (for now...till you suck it up next week...) Some sick passes, some big rebounds, always good D and even a nice looking 3. If only you would have found a consistent shot... you'd have been a great college player. Keller. Some good rebounds and a couple of good shots. He looks like the scorer that people talked about when he decided to transfer. Weber. I can't blame anything on him in this game. His scheme was good (when the players executed), his adjustments were good (when the players executed), and he made the right substitutions throughout the whole game. As to the future, I can't wait for Legion. One more scorer on the floor and that game goes Illinois' way by 10-15 pts. I have to believe that defense and decision making are going to be issues all season. I think this is a team that could mold into a tourney team, but they're going to have to stop making the rookie mistakes they keep making. What??!!! The reason why Frank Williams never made it in the NBA is because he didn't care. He tried to let his talent get him through.

If no other pitchers are acquired, after the Vaz trade...
Marquez is definitely one of them IMO. I think he's a lock. Next I would say is Clayton simply because Poreda only has one true pitch right now.

Vazquez & Logan Dealt to Braves
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 29, 2008 -> 06:12 AM) Not to mention Buehrle is.... 1) Much better with the press, and more likely to take responsibility for poor starts, show anger and emotion...not talk about his "comfy life" or "doing better next time" 2) World Series/playoff performances 3) Decade in the White Sox organization (last truly homegrown pitcher to make it from Draft Day to All-Star level success) 4) His leadership 5) His colorful personality, sense of humor and "tarp sliding" Javy has proven he really doesn't care if he does good or bad at the end of the day. Buehrle has blamed other factors for losses so statement #1 is pretty false. Or do you not remember the Texas debacle?

LET'S MAKE A LIST PART V - Holiday Edition
I don't have enough favorites to make 1-15. Only about 5. And yes folks, Home Alone 1 & 2 would both make that list.

Sox still interested in Willy Taveras
Like someone else said, we're better off going after Willie Harris.

Edgar Renteria HAS Signed with San Francisco
So if I'm a terrible team, unless I'm getting a young guy about to hit his prime, it makes no sense to sign those guys. Makes sense, but too bad no one ever goes with that plan.

Tipping
16% is my rule. I never go higher and never go lower unless the service was atrocious. Not terrible, but atrocious. So far it's only happened once.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) It amazes me how many people just forget about Scottie Pippen. He's a 1st team all defensive player in the history of the NBA, he was a great player, versatile, could do just about everything, and Michael Jordan isn't Michael Jordan (the best player ever, or even close for that matter) had he not had Scottie Pippen as a teammate. I know Scottie wasn't a great guy and did some things that were stupid, but he was a GREAT player, a legit top 50 player in NBA history. Rose's floor as an NBA player is the 3rd best player in Bulls history (assuming good health) and he is going to be one of the top 3 point guards in the NBA (at least) who plays in double digit all star games. But he has to actually achieve his potential and stay focused for a while before he can go into the category of Jordan or Pippen for that matter. I think he will get there though someday. Took the words out of my mouth. Legit top 50 player, most versatile player ever IMHO. And he did get screwed pretty good in '94 against the Knicks.

Dye to Reds Speculation
QUOTE (heirdog @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) That is if he is really 19. I bet he's closer to 24. Next thing you're gonna try and tell me is that Alexei is 27 or 28, whatever he's listed at. The guy's probably 32 but he's still good so I'll take him for another 3+ years. I'll take Cubano's word over yours. Dayan is a legit 19 years old and Alexei is 26.
