Should The Sox Buy the Old Post Office For A New Stadium?
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) They would have to latch onto a broader development goal in order to pull it off. What do you have in mind?

Should The Sox Buy the Old Post Office For A New Stadium?
I know there was a thread a few months ago about it. I couldn't find it. Either way, we were discussing should the Sox look to move their stadium to a more desirable, centralized location. Many people thought the old PO would be a perfect place, but some millionaire in Europe was sitting on the property. Well, it looks like it's finally for sale. Should JR pounce on it? Personally, I feel like moving there would create more interest and you would get a lot more people coming to the games, even when they stink. Then again, will the state ever allow them to leave the Cell before 2030? http://chicago.curbed.com/archives/2014/12...up-for-sale.php

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 05:52 AM) It's amazing how fans think they know what's going on in Jay's head. Anyone who says he doesn't care should just go away. If he shows emotion, he's a poor teammate. If he's stoic, he doesn't care. Gmab What you should care about is his stoic performances on the field, the fact that after 6 coordinators, he still can't run any of their offenses, he's gotten coaches hired and fired, and that he most importantly, was paid the highest salary this year, yet can't read a defense (which is why his audibling is terrible and why zone defenses give him fits). I was a Cutler defender for years, but they literally gave him God status in Halas Hall(though he never proved he deserved it) and has failed every single time.

Sox sign Melky Cabrera
I try to get excited by Melky, and he just doesn't do it for me. Not with the whole steroid thing, how he tried to cover it up and the fact that he hasn't been as productive since that year. I rather try to get Ethier or even Carlos Gonzalez. I realize injury concerns, but these are some buy low candidates. Imagine if we traded for Ethier and got the Dodgers to take Danks and Viciedo.

Rodon *NOT* to "probably" begin Sox career in pen
I think they want to build him up like the Twins did with Johan Santana as he's always thought the pitching prospect should get acclimated to the game first in a smaller role, then bridge out from there. It would be cool though if he said this now to make a team think we're not selling low on Danks.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) They really should start Niko or Taj over Gasol. Jo plays significantly better when he's not out of position and the defense improves drastically. No they shouldn't. Gasol has been the best and overall most consistent frontcourt player they have. If they don't fit together, you bench Noah until he gets right.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 01:46 AM) I'm talking about when you're viewing it, there is no chance in what the audience has to do or get used to. 3D had those issues. While true, you still need different hardware, and most importantly content. Content is not there to justify the cost of a 4ktv. There's no telling if it'll ever be there. I honestly don't think so unless Google's Fiber 1Gbps internet is launched mainstream to everyone. Even then, I think you'll barely see 1080P content becoming mainstream.

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) No, it absolutely IS that. That's the troubling thing along with this. Usually, you should be working to increase your workload. Derrick has decreased his workload and in fact, played less basketball so far than he did for the US team and it's leaning towards less and less. And when he does play, he's not playing like he's trying. Before he would start the break and blur through the defense, now, he gets the ball on the fastbreak and he looks to skip it ahead to someone else which I've never seen him do prior to this year unless someone was a half court ahead of him with no one around. In the halfcourt, he literally brings the ball up the court, then dumps it off to someone else. Usually doesn't sell himself in the play either. Just goes through the motions. He gets the ball back, if there's no clear lane, he'll not even look to pump fake or shoot, he'll just pass it off to someone else while not even looking at the rim. And that's when he decides to play. He'll have a 5-8 minute spurt where he tries to score, and that's that. Rest of the game is coasting.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) Hopefully there will just be a moment where Derrick's insane drive comes back and pushes him right through the mental wall. Something needs to piss Derrick off like it used to and then he'd demand the ball and go full throttle down the court. My guess is that will happen against the Cavaliers. I honestly think it would take an opposing player calling him out.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) Prices aren't that much different if you look correctly. The P series for Visio is comparable if not less money than standard sets. I personally think it's too early for adoption of 4K. Besides Blu Ray and games, there is little to none 1080P content. To me, it's the new fad these companies are trying to sell, like 3D was. Also, I've seen many of the 4Ktv deals are for 60hz, and for me, it's not acceptable. I'll stay at home with my nice 60 inch plasma and wait until something better comes along.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) f***in amazing. They should've brought back Sting with the bat and the crow theme song. His entrance music was awful. And he looked like he was wearing sting jogging pants with janitor gym shoes. I liked it for nostalgic purposes, but it wasn't a great debut otherwise.

Dodgers aggressively pursuing Alexei
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:52 PM) Maybe we get Pablo now for 3B? Maybe not I always have rather have had Hanley. I don't get the Sandoval love. Also, supposedly the Red Sox will be going after Sandoval still.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) Quite the overreaction to the Dunleavy foul. Was a bad foul, but not remotely dirty. He hit the dude's arms for Christ's sake I don't think it was. He hit their star player. In 2010, if someone did that to Rose, I would be up in arms with the whole damn team. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) McDermott looks like the ghost of his college self. Surprising? How many times has that happened with elite outside scorers/pure shooters upon arrival to the NBA? He will find his way. Most rookies aren't immediate impact. I think by mid season, he'll find his niche. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 11:26 PM) TAJ INJURED ON CRUTCHES? WTF =[ QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) The Circus Trip never fails to totally suck That's true. Ever since Jordan left, Circus Trip has always been bad, regardless who we face. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 11:30 PM) I'd like to throw the Blazers a second rounder to get Meyers Leonard. I'd like to see what he could do under a coach like Thibs Hell no. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) If we could swap Rose with Thillard, guaranteed title. Stupid Rose. I wouldn't say it's guaranteed. I do like Damian alot. I do think he needs to be a little more aggressive on offense though.

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 07:50 AM) He batted clean up on a team that won 96 games in 2014. The Nationals wouldn't have let him go, but Zimmerman, because of his injuries, can't play third anymore and is moving to first. The White Sox had to get someone who legitimatelylegitimately could hit 4th. IMO, Abreu is goimg to see a spike in free passes next year. If they couldn't get a legit cleanup hitter, it would only have been higher. I know, walks are good, but limiting Abreu's opportunities to do damage is not. You're right. And they didn't. I don't see too many positives with this deal. I would've reached higher and farther. It's weird so many people here like the deal, but they didn't like Dunn.

I lost by 1.5 points because RoFLSberger had an okay game at best and because the Eagles D/ST gave me negative points. Oh well, I get Josh Gordon back.

Sox sign Melky Cabrera
Would rather take Kemp or Ethier.
-
Dodgers OFs
Dodgers will not put any money in play if the Sox were to trade Danks for him. Hell, there's a chance the Dodgers ask for money back if Danks were to be included. I would look to trade Danks elsewhere, but still try a trade for Kemp. Heck, perform an MLB The Show trade and trade Danks for CarGo. LF - Kemp CF - Eaton RF - CarGo

2014-2015 NFL Football thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) It is so bad though. Two weeks ago he blamed Jay for audibling out of running plays like twice. Adding 2 more runs doesn't make much of a difference in our overall play mix which is terrible. Maybe he actually needs to call Cutler out publicly. Maybe, just maybe, he needs to bench Cutler so he gets the message.

Dodgers OFs
QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 10:54 PM) Ethier makes the most sense, either in a contract swap for Danks or with the Dodgers eating significant money. Crawford would be nice but he has the "downside" of being actually pretty useful and probably wouldn't come cheap. Kemp's situation is kind of weird/unique and i'm not sure if he can be moved. I'd take either of the three depending on what's included. My preference would be Kemp, Ethier, then Crawford.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 9, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) This team has absolutely no pride being blown out like this. Nope. Only Brandon really. Denver fans warned Bear fans about Cutler. There's a reason he went to Vandy and not a football powerhouse. We know why.

Bulls aren't healthy and still are winning games and imposing their will when the time counts. Wait until this team gets its players back for 15-20 games, and watch them flourish and curb stomp teams.

Yoan Moncada signs with Red Sox
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) I believe that is all correct. You sign a contract on this kid, it is ALL bonus and hits the July 2 pool. They are then on a minor league deal - MLB deals are not allowed. If you go over your allotted amount, all those fines and penalties you mention kick in. No one will sign this kid for $100M, or even $50M. At $50M you are paying a $100M bonus and losing picks for two years. So how much would the Sox be able to offer? Honestly, if what you guys are saying is true, he may just wait a year as he can start a bidding war.

Yoan Moncada signs with Red Sox
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 2, 2014 -> 08:02 PM) Now this is a guy the Sox should go very very hard after. I would be asking Abreu and Alexei to be salesmen while telling JR he WILL open up the wallet and offer this kid a contract he will not refuse. I know other teams will be all over this kid but the Sox just have to find a way and maybe this is the year they over spend like the Yanks, Cubs etc have in the past. They did that with Abreu. But doesn't depend on who bids the highest? Either which way, I do hope the Sox get him. Would be an excellent long term solution.
