QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 27, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) No, we don't need a scorer like Melo. We're just a Lance Stephenson and draft picks away! And Kirk will be back. He'll be the (PLEASE GOD) third string PG, but he'll be back on the vet min. Lance doesn't solve nearly enough problems for the cost and trouble he's going to bring you. You need Melo, or guys like Klay Thompson(whom from all accounts is now untouchable) paired with someone else.

Automobile Thread
Looking for an SUV with less than 30000 miles and no older than a 2011 for under 25000 and a 7 seater at least. Only one I seem to find is the Durango which looks really nice and has some decent reviews. Just want to do due diligence. Can anyone recommend any others?

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) Sarah Spain maybe the worst sports personality in this city. Gives no insight and uses old jokes that weren't funny at first. If she was two cups smaller or even a dude, she'd be in another business. That said, this is a good video. Disagree, I really like Spain on the radio. Sadly, she doesn't nearly do enough shows.

QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Goff and Bernstein were the best combo. I thought for sure Goff was waiting for Boers to leave. I hope he never goes back to the Score, especially with Bernstein's pompous ass. I really want him on ESPN. Take off Jurko(use that stunt he pulled against Friedell) and match him up with Carmen so we get some real good discussion.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
This series is a microcosm of the Bulls since 2010. Nowhere near enough offense. I hope people realize, even if Rose were to return like MVP Rose, they still wouldn't have nearly enough.

Name my future Son
I wish I saw this thread earlier. What you could've done is just spun the names to something more traditional. If you really wanted Frank Thomas you could've said, "Frances Thomas" or Frances Tomas. I really wanted the name Iker named after Iker Casillas, the footballer. Wife nixed it. I usually look towards soccer star names in Europe as many are traditional, but also unique in a way.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) If we can get Aaron Gordon with that pick I would be so happy. I'm not sure why he's that low on draft boards but he is, at least for now. I'd gladly take that over a future lottery pick. Though he will be a stud defensively, he has no position, his offensive game needs a lot of refining and he didn't show this year that he could dominate consistently. He reminds me a lot of Tyrus Thomas to be honest with you. I watch a lot of Pac-12 basketball, and Aaron Gordon is at least 2 years away from contributing on a consistent basis for a team. The good thing is he can defend four positions. Sounds exactly like a Bulls player, all d, no o. I'd take Nick Johnson before Aaron. If I'm the Bulls, there's a lot of great options in their range. If the Bulls want to go with a backup C and PG, they could be in range for Tyler Ennis and Adriean Payne. If they want offense, 2 of LaVine, McDermott, Young, Hood and Stauskus and Selden should be there.

Beckham, Keppinger to DL
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) There is no way this happens even if Semien hits 1.000. They need to give Beckham a full year to see if he is worth it or at worst deal him at the deadline and get something in return for him. If Semien does hit well I'd love to see him fill in at 3B for a while though, or at SS if we trade Alexei. You're nuts. Beckham has had his chances. I'm not going to give him another year. Screw that. If Semien plays good, he should play, period.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 15, 2014 -> 09:34 AM) I have a feeling your Illini compatriots on this board will disagree with this.... I like Groce, but I just don't think he was a big enough name to close the deals, nor did he take over a program that was at very least consistently a tourney team when he took over. Usually that is a bad mix. Crean, even if pushed out, will always be seen as a big time head coach who's proven he can turn around a program.

Big Ten Tournament
Why has everyone turned on Crean so suddenly? Hell, if available, I'd fire Groce in a heartbeat and hire him.

It's cold outside
QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 11:31 PM) Has the horrific winter in Chicago made any of you make any life decisions? By that I mean ... a.) you have now decided that "someday" in the future you will retire somewhere outside of frigid/snowy Chicago or b.) you've decided to immediately, at this stage of your life, look for work in a warm weather climate (Cali, Texas, Nevada)? It just seems you've gotten snow after snow; arctic blast after arctic blast. Our winter sucked here as well. I do hate the cold and ice. It did before, but now moreso than ever. My SO and I have dreamed about relocating to Southern Cali for the longest and actually planned to do so when our son graduates from middle school which is in 3 more years. We want to make sure we set ourselves up properly financially(move with no debt other than student loans and have cash and reserves saved up) since we have no family there. This winter, however, has made me think, I'd rather even deal with living in Miami or Houston as well even though it gets really hot.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 10:53 AM) Each shovel was supposed to be upwards of 15-20lbs. If do your driveway you can lift over 3,000 lbs. Pretty good cardio this morning. I'm contemplating myself whether I should since it should be high 30's tomorrow and 40's the following day. We'll see.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 2, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) Look at the first week of the baseball season. Promise? http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-i...eather/26466_pc I find it to be highly inaccurate, but maybe you'll have better luck. I actually just searched it two weeks ago when there was reports of flooding. It said the following week would be chilly, but then 40's and 50's average afterwards. That never happened.

Vacation/Travel Thread.
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) Yes, I've stayed on site, and yes the hotels on site were "average" at best. I have not tried the "Sandcastle Suites" property because it's all suites, but never was impressed by Breakers. One option I haven't tried is "Breakers express". It's a very large complex just outside the Causeway entrance that they built more recently than the ones actually on the island/peninsula, and I believe you can get the same package options and possibly early-entrance onto Raptor with it. You still have to drive across the Peninsula in the morning. The last time I was there, the hotels surrounding that weren't affiliated weren't bad at all either. Nothing particularly special though, I just found one that offered a continental breakfast and took it, it worked well as a "Standard hotel room". The packages I saw to be on site weren't anything all that special and there's usually coupons available to get small to moderate discounts on your actual park entrance fees if you look for them, either online or make sure you sign up to receive their mailed pamphlet, there will be entrance coupons on those. Last time I think I bought 2 of the 2-day combo Cedar Point/Soak City passes and thanks to the continental breakfast there wouldn't have been much of a savings compared to staying on site and getting their packages. Maybe like $25 either way but not enough for me to overcome the fact that my family stayed at Breakers once and said never again. Soak City is very underrated.

Opening Day Starter
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 08:08 AM) The best case scenario for the White Sox and Konerko this year would be for Dunn to have a monster April and May. If Dunn can increase his trade value by then, we can possibly deal him to a contender by mid to late June. I'm all for giving Dunn as many ABs in April and May. I'm not too concerned about giving Konerko adequate ABs in the first half as I do believe he will finish the year as the sole full time DH. Another possibility is an injury to another team's 1B or DH. This will open the door for a potential Dunn deal as well. I'm calling it now, Dunn will be dealt by July 31st. This will definitely make all the romantic white sox fans happy as it means more Pauly in his final season. If Dunn is having a monster first two months, then this team is a contender. At that point, it wouldn't be smart to trade him. Also, count me in for starting the best opening day lineup, not the most sentimental one. Don't put one guy above the team. Until this team is out of it, I don't want to start Paul just because it's his last opening day or it's his final game in Kansas City or Tampa or whereever the hell else.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) He's not going to be on the court enough to make a major difference offensively. They need another playmaker. I feel they don't have enough either. I don't know if playmaker is the word I would use. They need someone who will snap, can trade buckets with the best of them, and then actually want to do that. George still seemingly disappears too much for me to call him that type of guy. I honestly see no problem for the Heat until the Finals. Even then, I think they win in 6.

Amanda Knox found guilty again
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) It was kind of hard to call it factual when the first page had this paragraph. How is that not factual? Half the people don't even know who Amanda Knox is accused of killing.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 07:46 PM) He is still with CBS, I think they allowed him to go to Atlanta in order to let him get his feet wet while Boers rides out his contract I don't forsee that. Unless the Score gives him a deal he can't refuse and Atlanta doesn't match up, I think he stays. With the Score, he would be Bernstein's sidekick unless they put Bernstein at a different slot.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 05:15 PM) So what's Chris Bosh get this summer if he opts out to become a free agent? He was obviously viewed as a max contract guy 4 summers ago but how have his 4 seasons with the Heat affected his value? On one hand, statistically he had some very nice seasons as a third piece on championship teams. And coaches obviously still rate him highly as he was chosen for the all star team every year IIRC despite not having huge numbers. On the other hand, maybe he showed that he's not the guy to lead your team on a max contract, but as a complementary piece he's great. In which case, he's not a guy that deserves a max contract at 30. He wouldn't be a Bulls target obviously but just curious what others think the Bostrich gets. I think he'll still land a max deal. He'd easily land a max deal. Most people recognize that he's just not used to half his potential in Miami. The thing is, he seems like he's okay with that and wants to stay in Miami.

Amanda Knox found guilty again
BTW, Here's a good read about the case which doesn't know have opinions one way or the other on what happened. Just presents the facts in the case. I usually go to this site to read about big time crimes like this: http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murd...nda_knox/1.html

Amanda Knox found guilty again
I personally think she is guilty. All the evidence suggests she is. All the arguments against it are funny, in that they're more circumstantial and guessing than any evidence suggesting she is guilty. It's possible measurements were off I need an air tight motive She lied about 80% of what actually went on, but so what? I think we as Americans have become elitist snobs about everything we do. Fact is, if the crime happened in the US, and it was Italians who were tried, we wouldn't care or we would come to a conclusion that she's guilty and the Italians need to extradite their own because our system is better than theirs. I also don't think this will stop tourism or slow it down one bit in Italy unless you're scared with the person you're traveling with.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 2, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) Mayweather claims now he didn't bey the game. I don't believe that for a second. I don't either. He's a huge gambler, but usually only will post his winnings or if it's a sure bet. He probably made this bet, lost, and never spoke of it again.
