  1. Just a mini question, why are people going RB first? The only RB worthwhile is Adrian Peterson when he's healthy. In normal scoring leagues, especially ESPN ones, the QB is always the better pick since RBs these days work as tandems for the most part and they are so inconsistent year to year. AP has been the only one who if healthy, is a top 5 RB every year. The rest fluctuate wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much. Also as draft strategies, I also suggest picking QBs who are in tough divisions as they won't be resting come playoff time for you. Matt Ryan, Drew Brees > Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning.
  2. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I remember we had a thread like this last season that a lot of people used. I need some keeper advice. This league has weird rules. You can keep up to 3 players, one is your "franchise" player and can play any position and be any age. The other two have to be going into their 2nd or 3rd seasons (Cam Newtons draft class). If you keep just one player you lose your 2nd round pick, if you keep 2 you lose your 2nd and 12th, and if you keep all 3 you lose your 2nd, 12th and 15th. This league is NOT PPR and its 12 teams. For my 2nd and 3rd year guys I have: Doug Martin, Julio Jones, Stevan Ridley and Colin Kaepernick For my franchise player options I have: Ray Rice, Dez Bryant I will obviously be keeping Martin. For my other 2nd/3rd year guy Im leaning towards Ridley but I think both of the other guys arent bad choices. For my franchise player I have no idea who to pick. Rice seems to be the easy choice but I could potentially have Martin and Ridley already at RB and since this league is a non ppr Bryant actually outscored Rice last season. Kaepernick seems like a stretch but as my 3rd keeper Id only lose a 15th round pick and would have a QB locked up and not have to worry about drafting one because based on these keeper rules Id imagine Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, RG3, Luck, Stafford, Ryan etc will already be gone. I'd keep Kaepernick(I'd hesitate a little only because he's a 2nd year QB) Jones and Rice. That way you have a dominant QB, WR and RB as a base. Dez is still way too inconsistent to me. Ridley is a NE RB. Take it from me, who had him last year, he'll look great for a few weeks span, and then he won't get touches and probably will be dropped in the depth chart. It's happened with every NE RB I've had since 2008.
  3. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Which really is what this team, and especially the offense, needs the most. You can get play nasty without being a playing dirty. Play with an edge. And yet, he probably could've been had in the 3rd round. No matter how good Long looks, you do not draft any guard in the 1st round of an NFL draft.
  4. I've liked Morales for a long time. Really, since the season he broke his foot. His swing and his makeup made me think, he'd definitely recover. Anyone have a full list of free agents? I feel like Hahn is into rebuilding for the long haul. I think that's why this past offseason, you saw him make minimal moves. He kind of wanted to see this team fail so he wouldn't have to put up with "this team is close, we need to tweak it." He wants fresh blood on the squad. Clearing guys like Konerko, Dunn(after next season) and maybe Danks(though I think that's almost impossible), will give him the template he needs to start fresh. They do need to bring in some marquee players though to keep the fans they do have, going to the games. If you could get Cano, you do it. I'd let go or trade Beckham if at all possible. I'd try to stick Viciedo back at 3B where he would still be a plus bat. Probably get McCann while I'm at it, if not Morales. You have a glut of potential OFers in your system. Let them all play next season. Thompson, Mitchell, etc., you need to see if they can give you anything at all.
  5. As a legend used to say around these parts...WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?!
  6. Flash nailed it. I'm 27 now with two kids. I don't got time to make long ranted posts, wait for others to reply, then replay back with another few essays. I, like Flash, usually check up on the board, read it, and fade away. I guess we can all contribute a little bit more, but honestly, unless we start calling people out and having heated debates, it'll probably stay the way it is. I occasionally will post, but I don't follow to the degree in which I used to.
  7. Pippen's dunk was much better. It was full body action, the rivalry that was there and him staring down at Ewing as he walks over him and then telling Spike to sit down. Just a much better dunk.
  8. Apparently he got kicked out for plagarizing one of his final papers. ND is screwed. But you Gunner wishes he didn't transfer out.
  9. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ May 5, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Found this to be interesting. So the Bulls did not have to pay him $16 million this year, but instead about $10 million to recover and sit on the bench? This makes me wonder what happens in major league baseball when a pitcher hurts his pitching arm (Floyd or Kevin Brown). Is the team on the hook for the full amount of a player's salary? Oh no, he still gets his money. Difference is, the Bulls get a rebate back from the insurance company.
  10. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) Isn't this the one that's essentially Pineapple Express Part II? It may be, but it looks funny. McBride stole the trailer which I originally saw last year when he was ripping on everyone. Can't wait for that to come out. I'm also very interested in The Great Gatsby.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) I've gotten a glimpse at those girls in their "costumes" and I like it. Eh, all of them still look like high schoolers to me. I think the big draw, at least for the male fans is just to see those girls in small outfits throughout the whole movie. It looks pretty dumb though. Looks like a movie that will be on FX within 6 months.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) Looking at all of these Android phones that have come out recently, they all have some big negatives. Samsung S4 - Touchwiz (LOTS of negatives wrapped into this one), plastic backing HTC One - no expandable storage, doesn't come with 4.2 (and has poor reputation for rolling out updates), Sense interface, low-ish power battery Sony Xperia Z - waterproofing makes screen look like s***, bigger-than-need-be design, doesn't come with 4.2, questions about proprietary software add-ons, questions about Sony in general One of the lessons here is they should quit f***ing with the standard Android OS I fail to see the problem with Touchwiz still. *shrugs* With that said, the build quality of the S3 did feel very plasticy and flimsy. The S2 felt a whole lot more firm. HTC is a problem because of the battery. I'm not sure how the Xperia is going to turn out.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 1, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) yup. I got it for Christmas with a $50 gift card so I signed up for 3 months. With taxes and what not I still had to shell out $30 after using the gift card. So I wasnt too happy going in but I cant imagine going back to regular radio. I use to listen to ESPN Radio because the local shows suck but even ESPN Radio sucks compared to what XM offers sports wise. XM is the only thing I have on until a 3pm Tampa sports show comes on. I just use the ESPN Radio app and go from there.
  14. I can't stand The Score at all. Waddle & Silvy are my favorite and CJH was pretty good. Sure beat the hell out of Boers and Bernstein consistently roasting you or ignoring you like speaking over the point you try to make like they're incoherent alcoholics. The only time I would listen to B&B is when Goff was there to provide insight. If ESPN wants to shake stuff up, pry Goff away and start there.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) Derrick was quoted saying that he's nowhere near ready and that he's currently in the high 80% range in terms of progress. It shouldn't take 3 more months for him to get those 11 or 12% should it? It might. I think this is a combination of several things. 1) Derrick's camp being too cautious. 2)Reinsdorf being cautious (he did say he wanted Jordan to sit out the year he broke his leg) and 3) Rose not trusting his knee because it doesn't feel the same as it did before he got injured. No doubt in my mind, Rose is 100% physically fit to do what he needs to do, but from all inklings, he still seems unsure. Sitting out 16+ months for an ACL surgery is unheard of though. There's a point of being overcautious and I think everyone is guilty. They have to understand, he won't be 100% healthy(physically and mentally) until he plays.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 07:40 AM) Kobe is one of the best one on one players ever. If he gets the ball in ISO, why give it up? You see the juke he gave Chalmers and got the And1? Howard is a hack this year? WHy give him the ball on every possession? He was yelling at Nash during the game. Kobe's attitude has gotten him 5 rings. How many does Howard have> You pass the ball because your offense becomes predictable and teams can loud up as they know you're not going to pass at least one guy the ball at all. Did Kobe make any direct passes to Dwight yesterday? He was yelling at Nash because of defensive lapses. Hell, that whole team besides Dwight were making huge gaffes on defense. And Kobe's attitude did get him 5 rings when he probably should be on #7, but his damn ego has gotten in the way. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 07:49 AM) Howard has done nothing this season to deserve the attention you are saying he does. The Lakers cant afford to let Dwight get time to get past his little childish hissy fit that has been going on for the last two seasons. I wouldnt pass it to him either, he has been brutal this season. Howard hasn't been great, but neither have been the rest of the Lakers. Kobe has looked good when he passed the ball, but we all know that's not his nature. If you're not going to pass him the ball when you're facing one of the worst inside teams in the league, then they shouldn't bother playing him, but rather bench him and allow Earl Clark to put up 20 shots a game. Send his ass home or trade him for some help.
  17. As a Kobe fan, I must say, it looks like he never changed from the selfish egotistical maniac he was during Shaq's last 3 years in LA. He plays everyone for a sucker in which they say, "Look, he has X amount of assists, he's passing the ball.", when in reality, he's still freezing out teammates and going ISO in the worst of situations. There is no way in the world that Earl Clark should double the amount of FGAs Dwight has, even with Dwight being injured. Kobe did not bother looking for Dwight at all. He ran solid P&R basketball with Steve Nash, but it seems like Kobe rather have Artest get the ball before Dwight even sniffs it. I've watched the last 4 Laker games on League Pass and he continually does this. If Kobe really wants the spotlight that much, he should make it a point to get the ball to Dwight at all times and then take the greenlight once Dwight hits the bench or at the end of games when you are down and need someone to create.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) A ton. I have a first generation PS3 with 60gb. Ive never even come close to needing memory. If you wanted to save videos, music on the PS3 that size would make sense. PS3s are a great value. Had mine forever, used it for netflix, games, blu rays. Just a good value product. Yep, and updating the hard drive is a breeze. Probably simpler than opening up a PC. And the best part is, you don't have to get a Song PS3 hard drive. Almost any laptop hard drive will do, but you could find a list on the PS3 community website. I wish I still had my launch day PS3 as it was BC. It gave me YLOD though unfortunately.
  19. I know it's late, but thanks fellas! Awesome community. BTW 2ndcity, Rock > Punk
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 05:52 PM) Also, because it's close. He's closer, but whether or not he's close seems all relative. From what I've heard, he isn't coming back until the beginning of March/Last week of Feb(not last full week)
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 08:03 AM) Big game against the Pacers tonite, they have been playing extremely well lately It's going to be a tough February to be honest, especially with injuries racking up. I don't see them winning this game as Indy also depends on outhustling their team, but yet, are much closer to 100%.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 10:24 PM) And once again, Phil Simms is just an idiot...telling us all that he would have taken a timeout if he were the Ravens with two and a half minutes remaining because it was such a certainty that the Niners would score the go ahead TD and this would leave the Ravens more time remaining. I swear, I don't quite get how the guy could have played for so long and broadcasted for even longer and still not understand the strategy of clock management. There's nothing wrong with his strategy. In fact, there are plenty of coaches who would have thought the same. You burn the timeout there and the 9ers either score before the 2 minute warning, or they're stopped before the 2 minute warning. Either way, you are pretty much guaranteed to at least have 1 2 minute drive to march down the field and do whatever it is you need to do. Of course, they didn't need that strategy because Frisco didn't convert the 2pt conversion. BTW, I'm glad Ray Lewis won on his way out. If nothing else, it makes most of Soxtalk mad.
  23. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) I like the fact that we won with "small" ball last night, which gives some hope that we could play small with the Heat in a playoff series as well, which will take Boozer out of the picture. Take the Heat's small ball lineup: Bosh/Haslem Battier/Lewis Lebron Wade Allen/Chalmers If we can counter with Noah/Boozer Deng/Gibson Butler Robinson/Bellineli Rose Where Deng will check Lebron and Butler will check Wade. Nate and Rose will take turns checking Battier and Allen. Nate Robinson, while diminutive and has some shot selection issues, has proven that he can be effective running the offense, hitting the long ball, and being an instant source of offense. He and Deng can be the second and third options behind Rose. This is a bit premature given Rose hasn't played a minute this season yet, but I think we can match up great in the playoffs. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) I thought Heat is struggling vs. teams playing with 'big' guys up front or something like that? As justBlaze mentioned, you don't want to play small ball with the Heat. That's where they actually win. You want to force the Heat to matchup to you and play big. That's where they've lost consistently when they have lost. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 08:29 PM) Whatever they're doing right now...might not matter one iota when they try to "Flip the switch" come April. That and if the Bulls limp into the playoffs, they have no shot.
  24. Agreed that Heyman has been great. The stable as a whole have been great to be honest. Brock coming back though just enhances everything though. I marked out when he came out.
