  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Streak vs Streak woulda been a nice way to go with Taker retiring as champ. I of course will disagree with the rest above...What has Punk botched? I can't recall anything? He's a heel you disliking him means he's doing his job. Punk vs Cena the 1st time at Money in The Bank two years ago was a big botch fest that people, including me, were willing to ignore because of magnitude of the match as well as the atmosphere and he was something fresh. That match wasn't clean at all, and not even half of that was due to Cena. He botched(not only in that match) the GTS several times on Cena. He's also botched against Ziggler: Either way, the whole "eff the system" thing is old IMHO.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) Punk wins, wins at chamber, ends Takers streak at Mania, loses belt at Mania 30 to someone that's built up. He didnt have to lose. Undertaker won't give up that streak unless it's to Brock Lesnar if anyone. Even then, I don't think Vince will let the streak go. And you can have the same buildup of Punk vs Taker with or without the title. If you put the title on the line, every knows Taker would lose because he literally could only muster up a match per year, if that. By having Punk lose, you have him losing to an all-time great, and get the title on someone who brings way more attention to the WWE.
  3. There was nowhere else to go with Punks title reign. He had to lose. And the Rock has been using the People's Elbow as his finisher for the last couple of years he's wrestled. Last, but not least, for a supposed great storyteller in the ring, Punk has been pretty boring. If he isn't botching big time matches, he's having someone else save him. I've been labled as a Punk hater, so whatever. I do have a shirt of his and liked him up until he became a constant whiner. You're WWE champion and still whining. PS, I hope the Rock changes the ugly look of the belt.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) I think this is a good thing. Very few people can do both jobs and have success. But I still agree with your overall premise. When they fired Lovie, you has to hope emery knew what he is doing because it was going to be a "prospect" coach hire. I think Emery is an idiot. If you don't think the coach's philosophy is right, cool, go ahead and fire him. But when you fire him, you better know damn well who shares the same philosophy as you. Seems to me, Emery didn't want Lovie, but didn't know why other than he wanted someone fresh. I come to that conclusion based on the fact that he stated he had to be convinced by a coach to stop using the cover-2, by the fact that he went through coaches in 2 different leagues, coaches who don't call their own plays, some who do, and special teams coaches. In my honest opinion, he really had no idea what he wanted to do, and he's just going to hire someone who he thinks is best out of the candidates out there who will come on the cheap(which is part the Bears fault since they don't hire anyone with experience/looking for money) which is going to make his 1st draft look worse.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 10:19 AM) The Rock needs to stay away from the ball jokes and stick to being semi serious. Obviously comedy is part of his thing but he's better than the crap he's come with against Cena and now Punk. Punk was absolutely epic last night. I disagree. I felt Punk's was a little too forced. Rock did much better against Punk on the mic than he did Cena. The thing with Rock, is that he can't cut shoots which Punk essentially has been given semi-permission to do. And Rock won't cut a shoot against Vinny Mac or the fans because he recognizes who made him. Rock can easily go out there and talk about how ratings are the lowest they've been in 15 years on Raw with Punk as the premier guy or about how the Rock never had ratings that low as champ. He could talk about how much whining Punk does or in what ways he really is a hypocrite.
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) So Lovie's HC days are def over? That would be a great hire. Actually not. It's a matter of if Lovie wants to take the job. Michael Wright of ESPNChicago was on with Carm, Jurko and Harry today, and he was saying most people thought he would be taking the Buffalo job, but he didn't really want it and he specifically stated, from the time he was canned, he received a bunch of phone calls for HC positions that opened up. He made it sound like Lovie's being pretty picky and doesn't want to take a risk on a bad franchise. I have also heard, he doesn't want to go to SD unless they have a front office in place, with a plan and where they could co-exist. I also believe I read Lovie will be interviewing in Philly tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) And this is why I cant understand Emery as getting a complete pass. In what world did the Bears need a DE tweener in the first round? Drafting an OL in the 1st could have made a significant difference. Outside of Jeffrey his draft was just brutal. I am not a huge Lovie fan, but outside of the Seattle fg, I also cant recall a time where I really felt he screwed the team. Most of this year was on the players. Agreed all the way. I fail to see what Emery has shown in KC that even warranted him getting a look at by the Bears. But he got hired. His picks, outside of Jeffery, did nothing to help a Lovie Smith coached team. His recent comments about not planning his entire offseason addressing the offensive line because continuity is more important than upgrading talent(paraphrasing) is alarming. In a game situation, Lovie has only really screwed the Bears maybe twice in 9 seasons. The Bears are in a holding pattern, because whoever they hire will need to install a new defense and a new offense. Jay will have to get acclimated to his 100th offense in oh so many seasons, by the time they would be semi-ready to compete, guys like Peanut, Briggs, definitely Urlacher will all be gone and your best case scenario is that you are where the Bears are today, a 10-6 team, but maybe 2 years younger.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) Never blame the head coach for a team not finding the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years, thats just silly I know you have Lovies back, nite, but you cannot absolve him from all fault. And when it comes down to it, his teams have not performed up to expectations in the past 6 years. blame everyone else all you want, but the ax always comes down on the guy in charge. He went 10-6 this year. How many more wins should the Bears had this year given all the problems on the offensive side and all the injuries all over the team? Last year, your star QB went down when the team was riding high. Their backup QBs couldn't do much because they had no offensive line to protect them, just like Campbell this year. The one constant has been the lack of addressing the offensive line. No matter what type of league you play in, no matter how the game changes, you still win the battle on the offensive and defensive lines, period. Cutler has almost been killed
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) In the end, the teams execution is the head coaches responsibility. He hired the offensive coordinators. They failed. That's on him. The bears saw numerous players look inept on their offensive unit, only to appear much better on other teams. They were not good at developing the talent they were given, and they were not good executing with the talent given. That's the head coaches job. Yes, the players looked inept on offense. THE PLAYERS. I can't think of any players off the top of my head who looked better offensively elsewhere, but also before you spew a list, look which ones had an offensive line and a qb who could throw them the ball. The Bears couldn't develop offensive talent, because there was none there. That offensive line if putrid.
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 12:48 PM) that's just ridiculous. so much complaining about the 'fans' from these Bears players. "the fans boo us too much" "the fans want us to lose" lol It's actually true. I have heard from so many Bear fans that they would rather their team lose so they can finally fire Lovie. They got what they wanted. So far, you've had two people tear up on radio about it and a third about to retire over it. The fans are going to see that grass is not always greener. They want to say that Lovie knew nothing about offense, but yet, he brought in several different OCs and none of them could do anything. You had one of the most heralded offensive line coaches in the league, who also couldn't do anything with these players. Wonder why? The line. Any new coach they bring in, is going to want to upgrade that line. Apparently, Emery believes in continuity on a line, even if it's poo. I bet my account, the Bears do not finish with anywhere the record they finished with this year without that offensive line being vastly different. This wasn't Lovie's fault. That's why the players feel sorry for him. He didn't have a hand in this failure. He could've brought in Chip Kelly, and that offense still would've been terrible. They brought in Cutler's guy(Jeremy Bates), they brought in Mike Martz, an offensive guru who really didn't have a failure on offense anywhere else. Yet, you people state Lovie didn't know offense and all the coaches he hired sucked. Chances are if he brought in Sean Payton and the offense failed here, you would talk about how Payton was always overrated.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) Nate is what he is. You use him for a couple minutes and you'll see what sort of night he will have. He can be very productive and very unproductive but as long as you are smart in how you manage it, he's a great option. Say you fall down 15 points, I'd throw Nate out there and see if he could get hot (that has value). But in no way is anyone going to get me to buy into a fact that Nate is playing better defense then Hinrich. Per is such a flawed stat anyway. I'm not saying either are very good but when Rose gets back, Hinrich is the better supporting player. And in no way am I implying Hinrich is good. Hinrich also started brutally but has been coming along. I didn't even use PER to calculate how bad Hinrich is defensively. I used Drtg which is a pretty good indicator on whether or not the guy you're lining up against is scoring on you. It says that both Hinrich and Robinson are below average defensively(average being 100).
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Seriously, PER actually agrees with me? I'm...impressed. Every stat agrees with you. If you even watch 5 minutes(not you, anyone in general) of a game as a casual fan, you can tell Hinrich sucks and is living off of reputation from 5 years ago at this point.
  13. WTF? People would rather have Kirk on this team? It's bad enough we decided on him instead of OJ, but now, you want to keep a guy who is negatively contributing to this team? He has a 10.2 PER on the year. He's shooting .467 TS% with a putrid .436 eFG%. Ortg is 99 with a Drtg of 103. Nate has a 16.5 PER with .524% TS% and .482 eFG%. His offensive rating is 105(105 points for everyone 100 posessions). 103 Drtg. Yes, that's right, Hinrich's supposed great defense has been as good as Robinson's putrid defense. He can't create for jack, misses a ton of wide open shots and contributes nothing. I guess people like the fact that he's grindy and Chicago fans are trying to prove a team can win with literally no offense since subtracting Nate and keeping Hinrich accomplishes that. BTW, Nate has a 13.9 TOV%(turnovers per 100 possessions) while Kirk has 19.9 TOV%
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) I think what matters is that Duke is better than MSU. Im not about to be drawn into an ACC who is the best school match. Feel free to consult US News, Princeton Review or any of those nonsensical publications. Duke is a fine choice. I dont even like Duke, but I understand why someone would go there. Duke is a great medical school if I remember correctly. I believe it's top 5. Everything else is on par with a Big 10 school. Some programs a little bitter, some a little worse. It's no Stanford though unless Jabari is going to be a doctor.
  15. I can't name any great Chicago players who went to Duke, and ended up being a star in the NBA. Closest thing is Corey Maggette. Yuck. Jabari committed career suicide.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) False. He's said numerous times he would have gone to OSU. One of the many articles http://m.usatoday.com/article/news/1651709 He is in Columbus more than Lexington, and he donates a s***load to the school and team. You never know with LeBron, he's a front runner. He donates greatly to both schools though and even Cal introduced him at halfcourt before a game two years ago.
  17. I thought the CM Punk one was meh, but the matches they had were pretty good. As far as the nWo one, I thought they could've done a much better job expanding on the downfall. I thought it was a pretty short run through of what happened.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Decent shape to do what? Beat the Hawks? They still can't see the Heat and probably the Knicks. lol. Would you stop acting like your R.C. Buford in that pathetic joke of a league you and all your friends inhabit. J4L, I like reading your basketball posts, but stop with the attacks already. Or at least do it in another thread. No one's baiting you or even directing anyone towards you, yet, you're still taking any mention of fantasy basketball as a direct attack.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) But he at least does a lot of high percentage passing plays. He understands the game so well. I really think he's a great great mind. He is a great offensive mind. Same with Sean Payton, same with Norv Turner, same with Mike Martz. What's one thing they all have in common? Answer: they all need an offensive line to run their systems. The problems with the Bears are not with the head coach. It's with the offensive line first and foremost, then with the old defense. Flat out, you need better players. And maybe a new offensive coordinator.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 04:01 PM) Cowher is not coming here. He wants to be a GM. Best case scenario is Andy Reid. Andy Reid is going to end up in San Diego. He just built his house there and wants to be closer with his family if/when let go by Philly. Also, the same issues that plague Lovie are the same ones that plague Andy. No offensive lineman and the leaders on defense are old. I don't know what changes with another coach. You still need an offensive line, you still need to get younger on defense. Plain and simple. I have yet to see a valid reason as to why Lovie should be fired.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) AT&T's internet is total garbage unless you happen to live very close to a central office. Even then, they can't come close to competing with Comcast in terms of speed. I have the cheapest Comcast internet package I could get, and it's like 20mbit down, 5mbit up. Not theoretical, but actual speeds sustained. And I find those speeds to be mediocre. If you are dealing with DSL, then yes, it's dependent on how close you are to the Central Office. If we are talking about UVerse, which I thought we were, your proximity to the node is what your speeds are dependent on, not to the Central Office. You also mentioned wireless earlier, which is not what we're talking about. We're talking about home phone, internet and tv. Uverse has great TV, especially for the price. It's very easy to get on their promos as long as you're current on your bill. They have so many HD options. Their HD is compressed a little more heavily than others unfortunately, but it's nowhere as bad as people used to make it seem. Their internet is good if you're close to the node and you're not doing some heavy downloading. The reason being is that 75% of the line is being used for Uverse TV(IPTV), and the other problem is there is no fiber to the house. It is great though in that you're not sharing your connection with others like Comcast, which means there are no peak times or specific times of the day where the internet is slower than an earlier part of the day. ATT also has been a lot more stable than Comcast for me. I've had Comcast in three different places. I've had UVerse in two. Last, but not least, Comcast's monthly charges are not consistent month to month, even if you don't change up your service. ATT is. I look at my bill every month and everything is the exact same as the month before. It's refreshing to see that.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Minus the last play, I can't even be mad at Cutler First, Tice did a terrible playcall with a minute left and you at your own 2. You still had a chance. It either was a terrible playcall or a terrible decision by Cutler just to dump off behind the 1st down marker. At that point, you either throw it away or throw it deeper. At least 20 yards. Next, Cutler screwed up big time. He held the ball, then held it again, then held it some more and took a sack. He didn't even drop back. He literally just got the ball and stood there and didn't even make an attempt at the play.
  23. Wow, terrible management by Mike Tice and stupid job by Cutler there.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 16, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) Shields held his jersey NO call.....................fix is in.................league office needs to be contacted.........Refs crew need suspended. Not a Bears fan, but he clearly holds him the whole way.
  25. Wowwwwwwww. He put on the Marshall move and got called for it.
