  1. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Name me one spot where they have access to three train lines( one going as far as Joliet).", a super highway literally across the street from the stadium and enough space for 7000 parking spot? Oh, and isn't going to cost over a hundred million JUST FOR THE LAND! Don't the Cubs fans have access to the Yellow, Purple, Brown and Red Lines? On top of that, bus service almost non-stop, Lake Shore Drive and Kennedy(to the west) along with a bunch of nightlife or hang out after the game options. The Sox could do worse than 35th and Shields, but they could also do much better.
  2. I was the #3 seed overall, but the I had the 2nd best record(damn divisions killed me). Last team to get in ended up winning it all and they had a 6-7 record coming in. It was a 12 team league. Yeah, I'm mad.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) With those crappier QBs they made all of two Super Bowls in their history, and one required an all time great defense. Your argument supports keeping Cutler. The faster you move you move on from Cutler, the faster you can move onto finding a new QB. It may not happen in a year or two, but as long as you actively seek one out, you'll find one. For some oddball reason, people have this connotation that Cutler is the ceiling when it comes to QBs and the Bears will never get one as good if not better than him. It's a loser mentality really.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) Mike Holmgren is bad at his job. Good coach. Bad executive. Pass. Disagree. He had a huge hand in taking Seattle to the SB a few years back, and with Cleveland, he was hired just to get rid of a ton of bad contracts and make the team look sell-able.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) Did you guys see scefters tweet? He's saying bears will have to send huge package of picks to get rid of Cutler He didn't say a huge package of picks, but will probably have to send a high pick with Cutler in which they get a lower round pick back. He was thinking something like Cutler and a 3rd. Honestly, Bears fans shouldn't be choosy on who they can offload Cutler on. You need to get rid of that contract as soon as possible. And the whole argument of, "Well, who will replace him..." is a very weak one. You've had QBs all worse than him over your franchise's existance and have made SBs as well as won one.
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) You can keep Brady vs. Rodgers. Romo vs Luck. I'll take Whitehurst vs. Bortles any day of the week! Actually, I think Quinn is stating tonight.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Who the hell has ever said that Cutler is as good as those guys? You are talking about some of the best ever there. Jay isn't even close to the best ever. He can be above average but you certainly can't win with him dropping back and chucking it 50 times a game. Its ludicrous how awful our offense is and I blame everyone in Halas Hall for the suckitude that has came out of it. Jay actually walks out of this smelling like Rose's compared to most. You're right, so he should've never gotten payed like he's better than those guys, much less on the same level. And Jay is a guy who seemingly doesn't take coaching well, can't read defenses and makes a ton of mistakes. The whole regime should go.
  8. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) the next sox stadium will be on the site of the last sox stadium. I hope not.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Cervelli would have been a good target, and I wonder if What it would have taken to expand the Oakland trade to include Donaldson. This team would have really been stacked. He was traded to Toronto, wasn't he?
  10. Honestly he sped it up, Sale gave us the pitching, and Hahn executed his sped up plan to perfection.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Even the most ardent Cutler critic like Jenks wants to be proven wrong, as Bears fans we would love to see Jay succeed, but after so many years of mediocre play coupled with that ridiculous contract, we're fed up. Hopefully, this coaching staff is on the way out, we're stuck with Jay, maybe he won't be so terrible with a coaching staff that isn't way in over their heads now that he has weapons. In the past, we've had OCs that were competant, just didn't have the talent, now the Bears have the talent but the coaching staff are a bunch of mental midgets. I'm STILL willing to give Jay a chance to prove us all wrong, even though the odds that he's anything other than a physically gifted but low football IQ, turnover prone, fundamentally unsound QB are very low at this point of his career. The only guy I can think of that can save Jay from Jay is Martz. He didn't allow you to check out of plays, no matter what the defense was showing. Problem is, he didn't have the horses outside of Jay. If he came back, you have Jeffrey, Marshall, Bennett, Forte and a decent line. Would Jay get sacked more? Yes. Would he be able to take advantage of his arm? Yes. Outside of him, I don't really know or can think of a coordinator or coach who can get anymore out of Jay than we've already seen. For a guy making as much as he, that's unacceptable.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:56 AM) he can more than afford the 120 million payroll. he just want the attendance to equal the payroll. I was about to say this. They're not going to take the huge risk of adding 100 mil to the payroll if attendance has been bad the previous 3 years. They're doing the on the field/fan thing right. Build gradually, and when needed, do the spending.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) It won't be for the White Sox. Their lease runs another 15 seasons. It is a sweetheart lease. They make money just about every year. No reason to spend probably billions now. Even if it means, broadening the fanbase? Getting more people to go in the stadium. Hell, do a multi-purpose venue so you can also hold concerts there.
  14. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) They would have to latch onto a broader development goal in order to pull it off. What do you have in mind?
  15. I know there was a thread a few months ago about it. I couldn't find it. Either way, we were discussing should the Sox look to move their stadium to a more desirable, centralized location. Many people thought the old PO would be a perfect place, but some millionaire in Europe was sitting on the property. Well, it looks like it's finally for sale. Should JR pounce on it? Personally, I feel like moving there would create more interest and you would get a lot more people coming to the games, even when they stink. Then again, will the state ever allow them to leave the Cell before 2030? http://chicago.curbed.com/archives/2014/12...up-for-sale.php
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 05:52 AM) It's amazing how fans think they know what's going on in Jay's head. Anyone who says he doesn't care should just go away. If he shows emotion, he's a poor teammate. If he's stoic, he doesn't care. Gmab What you should care about is his stoic performances on the field, the fact that after 6 coordinators, he still can't run any of their offenses, he's gotten coaches hired and fired, and that he most importantly, was paid the highest salary this year, yet can't read a defense (which is why his audibling is terrible and why zone defenses give him fits). I was a Cutler defender for years, but they literally gave him God status in Halas Hall(though he never proved he deserved it) and has failed every single time.
  17. I try to get excited by Melky, and he just doesn't do it for me. Not with the whole steroid thing, how he tried to cover it up and the fact that he hasn't been as productive since that year. I rather try to get Ethier or even Carlos Gonzalez. I realize injury concerns, but these are some buy low candidates. Imagine if we traded for Ethier and got the Dodgers to take Danks and Viciedo.
  18. I think they want to build him up like the Twins did with Johan Santana as he's always thought the pitching prospect should get acclimated to the game first in a smaller role, then bridge out from there. It would be cool though if he said this now to make a team think we're not selling low on Danks.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) They really should start Niko or Taj over Gasol. Jo plays significantly better when he's not out of position and the defense improves drastically. No they shouldn't. Gasol has been the best and overall most consistent frontcourt player they have. If they don't fit together, you bench Noah until he gets right.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 01:46 AM) I'm talking about when you're viewing it, there is no chance in what the audience has to do or get used to. 3D had those issues. While true, you still need different hardware, and most importantly content. Content is not there to justify the cost of a 4ktv. There's no telling if it'll ever be there. I honestly don't think so unless Google's Fiber 1Gbps internet is launched mainstream to everyone. Even then, I think you'll barely see 1080P content becoming mainstream.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) No, it absolutely IS that. That's the troubling thing along with this. Usually, you should be working to increase your workload. Derrick has decreased his workload and in fact, played less basketball so far than he did for the US team and it's leaning towards less and less. And when he does play, he's not playing like he's trying. Before he would start the break and blur through the defense, now, he gets the ball on the fastbreak and he looks to skip it ahead to someone else which I've never seen him do prior to this year unless someone was a half court ahead of him with no one around. In the halfcourt, he literally brings the ball up the court, then dumps it off to someone else. Usually doesn't sell himself in the play either. Just goes through the motions. He gets the ball back, if there's no clear lane, he'll not even look to pump fake or shoot, he'll just pass it off to someone else while not even looking at the rim. And that's when he decides to play. He'll have a 5-8 minute spurt where he tries to score, and that's that. Rest of the game is coasting.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:13 AM) Hopefully there will just be a moment where Derrick's insane drive comes back and pushes him right through the mental wall. Something needs to piss Derrick off like it used to and then he'd demand the ball and go full throttle down the court. My guess is that will happen against the Cavaliers. I honestly think it would take an opposing player calling him out.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) Prices aren't that much different if you look correctly. The P series for Visio is comparable if not less money than standard sets. I personally think it's too early for adoption of 4K. Besides Blu Ray and games, there is little to none 1080P content. To me, it's the new fad these companies are trying to sell, like 3D was. Also, I've seen many of the 4Ktv deals are for 60hz, and for me, it's not acceptable. I'll stay at home with my nice 60 inch plasma and wait until something better comes along.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) f***in amazing. They should've brought back Sting with the bat and the crow theme song. His entrance music was awful. And he looked like he was wearing sting jogging pants with janitor gym shoes. I liked it for nostalgic purposes, but it wasn't a great debut otherwise.
  25. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 23, 2014 -> 10:52 PM) Maybe we get Pablo now for 3B? Maybe not I always have rather have had Hanley. I don't get the Sandoval love. Also, supposedly the Red Sox will be going after Sandoval still.
