  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) They did break the rules. They just don't care about the consequences. I disagree. They are dealing with the consequences of spending over allotted/recommended money. It's like the luxury tax in basketball. You can go over it, but there will be ramifications if you do. In the end, you don't lose players nor is it considered cheating.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) I don't think Colon is in the Mets future... Also man, if only you could combine the Mets right handers with the Sox left handers. Sale-deGrom-Quintana-Harvey-Rodon-Syndergaard. Rodon would be left off that rotation. Syndergaard is rated higher in my book. I'd go Sale deGrom Harvey Quintana Syndergaard
  3. And people said here that Murphy is not going to be worth a contract next year. That guy is locked in.
  4. That is probably the craziest ending to a football game I've ever seen.
  5. I usually won't do this to a non-pitcher, but this game is on Goins if Toronto loses. What the f*** is he doing out there?
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) i have been thinking of Rasmus the last couple of days.... i was just wondering.... does any still think the issue with his father is still prevalent?? would it be a problem?? next i read on mlb trade on a discussion of Rasmus interview and how the rebounded nicely this yr. of course i am paraphrasing the article .... basing on that article, can he flourish on the sox team?? Anyone who doesn't listen to the Sox hitting coaches is cool with me! ;)
  7. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Not sure if you're being serious with "ultra-cheap"? Edit: Murphy, for example, MLB Trade Rumors guy suggested will get a QO and Chase Headley money. And that's before his playoff antics tonight. Rasmus, I assume, will get at least Melky's contract. Fowler similar. Frazier ends up being probably around $20 mil for the 2 years plus several prospects in the trade. Frazier will cost a couple of mid level prospects at most and shores up a position the league is thin on. I want whoever is cheaper between Fowler and Rasmus. I think that will be Fowler and I don't think either will be as expensive as you think. I could be wrong. Murphy is the one I fear will be the most expensive. Lastly, by cheap, I mean in comparison to what the major players are going to get like Heyward possibly at 175million. Murphy, Fowler and Frazier would be much better use of those resources.
  8. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) I think the only reason this board believes that managers don't matter at all is because the team we love has in fact a manager that can't really manage. Joe Madden is way better than Robin it is not even close. Agreed.
  9. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) Was just going through rosters and the free agent list and decided to share my thoughts on the most realistic options for the Sox to target this off season. Feel free to post more guys you would like to see us REALISTICALLY target, or just who you like the most out of my list. INF FA- Ben Zobrist Howie Kendrick Daniel Murphy OF FA- Dexter Fowler Gerardo Para Colby Rasmus FA SP- Bud Norris Dillon Gee Ian Kennedy FA RP- Tommy Hunter Bobby Parnell Antonio Bastardo James Russell Trade Targets Todd Frazier Andre Eithier Scott Van Slyke Marcell Ozuna Derek Dietrich David Peralta Wilin Rosario Danny Valencia Derek Norris For my ultra cheap, but compete plan, give me Murphy, Rasmus/Fowler and Frazier.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) They were fine when they had a healthy RYU. In hindsight, they should have held onto Haren instead of just dumping him...the Brett Anderson move actually worked out nicely, all things considered. Yes, but he wasn't there all year and they knew he wouldn't be. They needed a legit #3 all year long. They didn't want to trade Puig because they believed they were going to need him even though his teammates didn't like his personality (by all accounts, he's a fiery guy who also likes to have fun; not a dick, but just a loud guy). Mattingly sparingly used him and they have a few options at OF. They should've moved him. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) Harvey. Syndergaard could likely go Sunday. This is basically a side session. Yep. That's another benefit of having a #3 in the playoffs. He doesn't have to win you the game, just give you a shot to win it. Mets have that.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Both the Dodgers and the Mets aren't too impressive. Cubs are going to beat whoever they play the in NLCS. I think the Mets have a legit shot. My fear with the Dodgers has been the lack of a #3, but more importantly, their offense not clicking. Honestly, only Turner was consistent this whole year. And the way they're talking about Puig in LA now makes me think he could be had for Samardzja, much less Q. In the end, the Dodgers lost this game and this series. If they had a legit #3, they probably win Game 3. They're not gonna put up with Friedman if he still runs things like he's in TB.
  12. I think these fastball pitchers are better for the Jays to face. I hope the Astros pull through though. For a casual fan, this is nightmare. All the teams remaining wear blue as their primary color when the Dodgers beat the Mets. And the Dodgers and Royals have similar jerseys to a casual.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) Ok ya that's what I was thinking of. Well he didn't come out and curse the organization but he wasn't happy at all. Never say never in this league. This team will have offers and good ones when they're trying to move Quintana. I agree the Sox will have offers for Q, but Arenado is not one of them. He simply won't get dealt right now unless it's for some crazy package. He's in Pre-Arb years, he's a stud at probably the most drained position in baseball right now, and he's under control for another 4 years IIRC. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Q is another subject we might not see eye to eye my man. Unless the Sox are offered a haul they just cannot pass up, I think Q will be the #2 for the '16 White Sox. I doubt seriously the Sox are shopping Q. Just my opinion is all. One thing I'd like to point out is that this will be my third off season on this board and the third off season in which some members wanted to trade Q. I still remember the trade Q for Jason Castro idea a few years ago and thank goodness that didn't happen. I think so too, but the Sox have to get creative. Even if the just trade him for prospects, they need to trade him for multiple prospects. If they don't plan on going for it, then Q should be able to net you 2 or 3 really good prospects if you play your cards right.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) I'd be ok with signing Wieters at catcher. AC for stop gap SS. Then big blockbuster Quintana package for Cargo and Arenado. My dream for a couple months before shattered lol. Arenado is not on the block. If he was, you're not getting him for Q. Now you want him and CarGo for Q? That deal would take you Sale, Q, Fullmer, and Abreu. I don't think you realize how much Colorado wants to build around Arenado. I think you honestly have a better shot at getting Stanton. Either which way, out of the midlevel options I really like Murphy & Fowler as well.
  15. I like the names mentioned as ideas: Brandon Phillips Neil Walker Juan Uribe David Freese Daniel Murphy Javier Baez Starlin Castro Jason Heyward Justin Upton Yoenis Cespedes Alex Gordon Dexter Fowler Denard Span Gerardo Parra Austin Jackson Steve Pearce Colby Rasmus. The trade market could include Carlos Gonzalez, Ryan Braun, Marcell Ozuna, and Yasiel Puig. Ozuna would be particularly interesting for Chicago, as he’s yet to reach arbitration and will be earning less than $600K. He’ll be appealing to many teams, however. In the end, the Sox have options, but they're going to have to play them right.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) What's wrong with Mets fans I wouldn't mind it. On Soxtalk, every fan annoys us if they're not White Sox fans from what I've learned.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) I will never understand what the Dodgers and Cardinals were thinking at the deadline Eh, I'm on both sides of this. They had the ability to get Price, but they weren't going to give up Seager or Urias to do it. Their line of thinking was, why give up prospects when we can get him in the offseason. Problem is, they never had a guy who could step up and be a #3 starter. Honestly, they would've been smart to look for a Quintana for Puig type deal considering he's not even being used (I understand he's injured, but even if he wasn't, he wouldn't be the surefire starter). Friedman is overvaluing prospects though. I think this year, the league was as wide open as ever.
  18. Now I know why Kenny really wanted Jorge Sunshine. Any chance of a Robertson for Soler deal?
  19. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Bad time to have your worst game of the second half Arrieta. It's a bullpen game now. If the cards can hold the Cubs scoreless here on out I think they win this game. Big if of course. Series is over if Cards pull this one out. I have more confidence in the Cards' bullpen.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) I like that the MLB has too much to do and cannot hear the appeal today Piss poor excuse. If I'm the Dodgers though, I wouldn't bother appealing for Utley. He's been horrible for them this year.
  21. That was boneheaded. Why acquire an Ace if you're not going to pitch him like an ace?
  22. Is that theee Clayton Richard?
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) So much for the good offenses don't do well in the playoffs talk. Also, I think it's ridiculous to claim the Jays are the only team with a reasonable shot at the World Series title, none of the NL teams really look like juggernauts, and I think people are underrating the Rangers and Astros. I like the Cubs, Mets, Cardinals and Mets over all AL teams except the Jays.
  24. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) I'm not sure how Houston will respond after blowing this game so badly. Either they are young and won't be able to flush this game out of their minds or they are young and this motivate them. Well, the bad thing is, Houston started to go through pitchers, so whoever starts on Wed is going to have to go deep.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Jays are going to get a game 5 it looks like. As long as Price doesn't choke, they should advance. Yep, I want the Jays and Astros actually. Then in the NL, Cubs and Dodgers. IMHO, Jays are the only team from the AL with a legit shot at the World Series championship.
