  1. I liked the PPV alot. Rollins did as good as you could against a guy like Kane. Divas match was surprisingly good until that botch at the turnbuckle. Looks like Nicki returned the favor on Charlotte outside of the ring. Only matches I didn't like were Owens vs Ryback and Rollins vs Kane. I thought Reigns and Bray put on a good show as well as Taker vs Brock. Hopefully this leads to the Undertaker leading the Wyatt family, resurrecting Kane, and then it somehow leads to a Sting vs Taker match.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Illinois has 6'6 wing Kipper Nichols on an official visit right now. Previously committed to Tulane. They probably have a realistic shot at him, but anytime Illinois goes after a recruit another big school wants, they lose plain and simple.
  3. I remember Nuke. Best old school poster, especially in that '05 season. He made game threads phenomenal and whenever it seemed like the Sox were going to crap, he'd come out of nowhere with some funny stuff.
  4. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) I listen to Chocago sports podcasts sometimes when I'm at work, and here's a summary of what I heard this week: I downloaded the waddle and Silvy show from Tuesday (on location with Urlacher). Kaplan, Silvy & Jesse Rodgers were all pretty confident that the Cubs would win game 3. Waddle's assessment of Schwarber in the outfield was that he isn't as bad as everyone says. Silvy is upset that Sox fans were not rooting for the Cubs. He says that he was pulling for the Sox in2005. I'd love to hear those shows so I could verify that myself. On the score, listening to Bruce Levine after the series was comical. He's about as bad as the worst dumb caller when it comes to possible trades. According to him, Solef is an AL player because he's prone to injuries. Castro is a guy that a few teams really want and he can be a good SS. Schwarber is a really hard worker, so he'll improve in the field wherever that play him. The Cubs will target Shark (who Levine has a total stiffy for) because he will be much less expensive than some other guys out there. I heard him on two different shows (I listen to the score interviews podcast), and he was in full fanboy mode. I've managed to avoid mocking my Cub fan friends, but I'm so happy they lost because of all the douchebaggery in the media. I still remembered when I pissed off Waddle and Silvy on Facebook by calling out their interview methods.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) This morning Levine was suggesting Quintana for Baez or Soler straight up I'd do Q for both.
  6. That was horrible by the ump in the 9th. Even my Royals friend said why did Escobar get MVP, it should've been the ump and he started cracking up.
  7. I don't think there is a type the Sox should be spending their money on. If they don't play SP or 1B, the Sox need to look at upgrades at all positions. Cespedes would represent a large upgrade in the OF. Whether or not you agree with his plate philosophy, it's a start. The plan to rebuild is simple. 1)Acquire as much talent as possible. 2)Trade away pieces that don't fit for more talent.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) They should have gone before Thibs. We will see. It is really hard to take much out of preseason games, especially when they aren't playing with their entire roster, but it is interesting J G Buckets plays 37 minutes on Monday night then 32 on Tuesday in games that don't count, and not a word about the Mayor running his players into the ground. Thank you. I said it when Thibs was fired and they did nothing in the offseason. By simply firing Thibs and hiring Hoiberg, you are flat out saying, Thibs was the only problem and not roster makeup. If Hoiberg doesn't make it farther, then the target is on your back because you have consistently done nothing to fill the holes, in 12 years you have yet to make a trade which netted you useful talent back, you haven't been able to sign a big time free agent (which means that flexibility bulls*** you keep touting is just that, BS) and you have the same core from 2008 Gibson, Noah, Hinrich, Rose. In the end, they have not taken any risks and the only trades they have done is for cap purposes. I don't know how they've gotten a pass this long, especially Paxson. And it's not like his last few drafts have been great.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) I think the Heat will be pretty good, but their bench is awful compared to ours and Cleveland's. Strongly disagree. Last year their bench was awful, this year it's pretty nice. With the problems the Bulls will have defensively, I actually like the Heat and Bucks more. Just for the record, keeping Noah at C would still equal the same defensive problems, that guy is done. Dragic Wade Deng Bosh Whiteside Green McRoberts Winslow Anderson Chalmers Bucks are really long defensively and they use their defense to create their offense. They kinda remind me of the 90s Bulls teams in terms of length
  10. I'm rooting for the Jays since I wanna see Canada win. At the same time, they just haven't clicked all postseason.
  11. I don't care if the guy is an analytics type if our team doesn't have the talent which I don't think this team does for the most part.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) So the Bulls might suck without Thibbs. Who would have saw that coming? Not John Paxson
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) They did break the rules. They just don't care about the consequences. I disagree. They are dealing with the consequences of spending over allotted/recommended money. It's like the luxury tax in basketball. You can go over it, but there will be ramifications if you do. In the end, you don't lose players nor is it considered cheating.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) I don't think Colon is in the Mets future... Also man, if only you could combine the Mets right handers with the Sox left handers. Sale-deGrom-Quintana-Harvey-Rodon-Syndergaard. Rodon would be left off that rotation. Syndergaard is rated higher in my book. I'd go Sale deGrom Harvey Quintana Syndergaard
  15. And people said here that Murphy is not going to be worth a contract next year. That guy is locked in.
  16. That is probably the craziest ending to a football game I've ever seen.
  17. I usually won't do this to a non-pitcher, but this game is on Goins if Toronto loses. What the f*** is he doing out there?
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) i have been thinking of Rasmus the last couple of days.... i was just wondering.... does any still think the issue with his father is still prevalent?? would it be a problem?? next i read on mlb trade on a discussion of Rasmus interview and how the rebounded nicely this yr. of course i am paraphrasing the article .... basing on that article, can he flourish on the sox team?? Anyone who doesn't listen to the Sox hitting coaches is cool with me! ;)
  19. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Not sure if you're being serious with "ultra-cheap"? Edit: Murphy, for example, MLB Trade Rumors guy suggested will get a QO and Chase Headley money. And that's before his playoff antics tonight. Rasmus, I assume, will get at least Melky's contract. Fowler similar. Frazier ends up being probably around $20 mil for the 2 years plus several prospects in the trade. Frazier will cost a couple of mid level prospects at most and shores up a position the league is thin on. I want whoever is cheaper between Fowler and Rasmus. I think that will be Fowler and I don't think either will be as expensive as you think. I could be wrong. Murphy is the one I fear will be the most expensive. Lastly, by cheap, I mean in comparison to what the major players are going to get like Heyward possibly at 175million. Murphy, Fowler and Frazier would be much better use of those resources.
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) I think the only reason this board believes that managers don't matter at all is because the team we love has in fact a manager that can't really manage. Joe Madden is way better than Robin it is not even close. Agreed.
  21. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) Was just going through rosters and the free agent list and decided to share my thoughts on the most realistic options for the Sox to target this off season. Feel free to post more guys you would like to see us REALISTICALLY target, or just who you like the most out of my list. INF FA- Ben Zobrist Howie Kendrick Daniel Murphy OF FA- Dexter Fowler Gerardo Para Colby Rasmus FA SP- Bud Norris Dillon Gee Ian Kennedy FA RP- Tommy Hunter Bobby Parnell Antonio Bastardo James Russell Trade Targets Todd Frazier Andre Eithier Scott Van Slyke Marcell Ozuna Derek Dietrich David Peralta Wilin Rosario Danny Valencia Derek Norris For my ultra cheap, but compete plan, give me Murphy, Rasmus/Fowler and Frazier.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) They were fine when they had a healthy RYU. In hindsight, they should have held onto Haren instead of just dumping him...the Brett Anderson move actually worked out nicely, all things considered. Yes, but he wasn't there all year and they knew he wouldn't be. They needed a legit #3 all year long. They didn't want to trade Puig because they believed they were going to need him even though his teammates didn't like his personality (by all accounts, he's a fiery guy who also likes to have fun; not a dick, but just a loud guy). Mattingly sparingly used him and they have a few options at OF. They should've moved him. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) Harvey. Syndergaard could likely go Sunday. This is basically a side session. Yep. That's another benefit of having a #3 in the playoffs. He doesn't have to win you the game, just give you a shot to win it. Mets have that.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) Both the Dodgers and the Mets aren't too impressive. Cubs are going to beat whoever they play the in NLCS. I think the Mets have a legit shot. My fear with the Dodgers has been the lack of a #3, but more importantly, their offense not clicking. Honestly, only Turner was consistent this whole year. And the way they're talking about Puig in LA now makes me think he could be had for Samardzja, much less Q. In the end, the Dodgers lost this game and this series. If they had a legit #3, they probably win Game 3. They're not gonna put up with Friedman if he still runs things like he's in TB.
  24. I think these fastball pitchers are better for the Jays to face. I hope the Astros pull through though. For a casual fan, this is nightmare. All the teams remaining wear blue as their primary color when the Dodgers beat the Mets. And the Dodgers and Royals have similar jerseys to a casual.
