QUOTE(White Sox @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) The suntimes has been GREAT all season with the sox. I get it every day. I don't remember the last time ive looked at the back cover and NOT seen the sox full page on it. The only bad part about the suntimes is Mariotti, who pretends like the sox don't exsist when things start going well for them. Speaking of which, did you see when Mariotti got pissed at Tony Reali yesterday for saying, "He Gone" when talking about the Sox. Mariotti got pissed and said, "here's a little advice and stop using that stupid phrase". Then Mariotti lost that round and Reali said, "Since you don't like 'He Gone!', how about 'You Gone!'

SOX All-Stars
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) I struggle to see hoe Hernadez possibly deserves to go to the ASG. I would definitely take Herm and Buehrle over him. We won't have one player voted on, they will all be picked by the manager so it's hard to imagine us getting much more than Herm-Mark-Jon. He has less wins but a better ERA than Buehrle.

Stop getting so pissed off at the media...
Kind of wrong time for this thread. There really was no media on them tonight and no one was really b****ing about anything.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Game sure as hell was fun tonight with a packed crowd. I can't wait until tommorow.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 13, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Because, while he is a good player, if Jose Guillen is the face of your franchise, you have problems. Not saying I wouldn't take him - I was one of the biggest supporters of getting him, especially since it would have cost us like maybe Willie Harris and Jon Adkins - just saying he has been known to have been a problem in the clubhouse before, and I don't think KW would f*** with that with the way this team is gelling. Just like he "f***ed with the chemistry" by getting AJ. When you have a majority in the clubhouse(every guy thinks the same way) Jose Guillen won't mess that up. Hell, I see him and Ozzie liking each other. With that said, he's changed drastically and values baseball. Him getting kicked off the team for the rest of the year last year was the best thing that happened to him. No way Washington trades him.

If the playofs started today...
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 13, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) I would send Freddy to the Pen. Just because he hasn't met our expectations and is inconsistent. Hasn't met expectations??? Are you kidding. Just because everyone else has overachieved doesn't make Freddy an underachiever. He's player great and has a low 3 ERA. He had the same ERA last year. He's doing his job and what was expected of him which is pretty damn good. Underachieving????? Wow, pass that crack over here.

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ May 13, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Why would Washington trade him? I just don't see why. Exactly why I don't see him being dealt. No reason to move him.

If the playofs started today...
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) 2 bad games and 1 mediocre performance. Otherwise, he has allowed 1 run in every outing. Two bad ones have been... 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER(3 R), 4 BB and 2 K against Minny on 4-18(104 pitches) 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER(4 R), 5 BB, and 3 K against TB on 5-10(91 pitches) His mediocre one was against Cleveland... 6.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER(4 R), 5 BB, 3 K on 4-7(96 pitches) So ya I don't consider 2 ER(even in 4.2 innings) as a bad outing. Wasn't that the one where he had to leave because of a hammy or some type of leg injury?? The TB was the only bad start IMO.

Putting this Trade Shingo talk to rest.
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Except that Shingo's arm is not burned out, and it is hard to make fun of the way Shingo looks, because he does not have a silly ass Billy-goat goatee. That's a badass goattee.

If the playofs started today...
Honestly, no one right now. What I would do is have Buehrle, Garcia, Duque, Garland & Contreras pitch. Or I'd have two of the pitchers split a game. Have El Duque go half of the game, then Contreras the other half. I think Contreras would be worse off out of the pen. He's been doing fine. I don't care about walks. I care about runs and wins. Contreras has only had 1 bad game. The rest, he's given the team a chance to won.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) This assuming Washington isn't blinded by it being their first year in the league and them thinking they have a shot against the clearly superior Florida and Atlanta teams, even if they are only like 6 out at the trade deadline. This also assuming that they realize Guillen has been known to be problem in the clubhouse. If they have no problem f***ing with team chemistry, by all means do it. I gotta feeling that KW does not want to f*** with team chemistry. You think Guillen would be pissed off about moving from a mediocre team to a playoff team??? I think not. He learned his lesson. He went to counsling. He's grown up already. I certainly would take him, problem is he's still relatively young and he is their superstar. Washington fans wouldn't like that.

Rotation for the Cub Series
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 13, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) heh, it seems like most of you guys hate Zambrano i personally love the guy, the amount of emotion he shows shows me how much he wants to win and than that 136 pitch complete game he threw was showing he is willing to put the team on his back and end the slide. Any guy with that emotion and will to win is on my favorites list... besides didnt he say before he was a white sox fan? mebe ozzie can sneak him over once his contract is up Im not 2 scared about Maddux but Prior can shut us down easy. One good thing is their offense has been as pathetic as ours... so our pitchers should be good.... just pitch around Derrick Lee I don't ever remember Zambrano saying he was a White Sox fan. I personally could do without his nut grabbing routine. It would be funny if Freddy or whoever pitches against him does it after each strikeout. I love it when our players mock them. Just like Jose Valentin and Timo. It's great.

Rotation for the Cub Series
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) He loved the fastball pitchers. He hit Wood and Zambrano hard. I know Wood for sure. I'm pretty sure about Zambrano as well. I distinctly remember Zambo getting pissed against us within the first 3 innings of a game. Didn't Felix Diaz beat him or Maddux last year at the Cell??

frank thomas was to be on ESPN Radio
QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Now it won't be until after 2PM. I don't know why the hell they do stuff like that. Could you give us info on what is said? I can't listen to the radio.

SOX All-Stars
QUOTE(Sirotka33 @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) The international vote will give Iguchi a big push... Yea, but Soriano has the American and Latin vote. Just the way it is. Soriano will get voted in and Francona will oversee Iguchi unless Roberts slows down drastically.

Tim Kurkjian's underachievers...
I don't see Aaron coming on at all. Is he better than PK and Dye right now? Yes. He definately isn't better than Everett right now. He doesn't deserve the 3-4-5 spot.
-
SOX All-Stars
I say Garland, Hernandez and Iguchi(though I could see why he isn't picked) so replace him with Everett if he gets his average a little more up.

Shingo>>>Hawkins
Mostly cas of Cubs fans probably. Closing though, I would trust Shingo more. Setup, I trust LaTroy way more and I trust LaTroy setting up over Shingo closing.

Rotation for the Cub Series
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 13, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Don't recall if he played a big role in those games, but we don't have the Carlos Lee factor any more. I still think we can take 2 at Wrigley. He played big roles against the Cubs in every game. Hopefully, PK could show why he starts at first base against us and starts hitting for once this season.

Tim Kurkjian's underachievers...
QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) Uhh you say "I'd never play those 3 together until they all get hot", but then you turn around and put them in the 7, 8, and 9 positions, creating probably the wettest dream for any pitcher out there. The bottom-of-the-order black hole. I say: LF-Podsednik 2B-Iguchi 1B-Konerko DH-Everett SS-Uribe C-Piersynski 3B-Crede CF-Rowand RF-Dye Speed at the top, Pauly in the 3, Everett cleanup with protection by Uribe. I'd prefer Crede to be a bit better with the bat in the 7 but I want him after AJ. I meant that's where they would bat while they're in the lineup. Leave their subs in that spot too. Sorry, I didn't break it down enough for you. PK can't bat third because he grounds into way too many DP's. I think he led the league last year. 3 is too high for him. His batting average doesn't warrant it either. He's getting his RBI in bunches(just like our offense for the past couple of years). Anyway, stop with the Rowand at 3rd. He clearly isn't good enough(not talking about only you in particular) right now. I don't give a damn if he's a nice guy or he signed your t-shirt at Soxfest. Put him were his #'s say he should be. That's at the bottom of the order.

Any chance of one of our guys hitting a line drive to Zambrano's nuts, so we could actually give him a reason to jerk off in public???
