Gordon Beckham's hand... (not) actually broken
I guess some people just refuse to look at the facts and forever hate Teahan. I wasn't that big of a fan of him, but he has produced since coming back.

I take that back. I'll have ketchup on that crow please.

Anyone else rather have Brent hit than pinch run? Castro's up and it's over.

=[ Just weren't destined to win this game with Manny on the bench, Ozzie managing, our hitters being 3 for 15 with RISP, and Buehrle still pitching.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) Taking strikes, swinging at ball....every AB with RISP has been the same it seems. Yep. Sadly, if we started Manny, I'm 99% sure we would have the lead in this game. I don't forsee it happening today. 2-1 loss...ugh

Yeah, screw this whole keep guys fresh. It's the last month of the season and you trail 3 games. You need to put the best team out there every game from here on out. What will end up happening is us losing and Minny losing as well. We kick ourselves because we had a chance to gain a game and instead we stay status quo. 3 games back.

Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) WR Juaquin Iglesias, DT Jarron Gilbert, LB Tim Shah, OT Josh Beekman, S Al Afalava, DB Cornelius Brown, QB Dan Lefevour, Woodny Turenne, Quentin Scott and Aaron Webster, linebackers Kevin Malast and Kelvin Smith, center Tim Walter, fullback Eddie Williams, wide reciever Freddie Barnes, and defensive end Mick Williams also were waived. Also, Tight end Richard Angulo's contract was terminated There is a whole bunch of Angelo AND Smith fail in there. Lovie was a big fan of Afalava IIRC That shows how awful Angelo is at drafting. I thought Al and Lefevour should've stayed, but apparently not.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) WHY THE HELL ARE WE BUNTING? AND WHY IS ANDRUW SO SLOW? The first question is the dumb one. Andruw is known not to be too fast. He has average speed. We telegraphed the bunt and they caught us. That's being outmanaged. There's no reason we should have a bunt on when Alexei can crush his best pitch.

Daniel Hudson watch thread
I'm sorry, but the Hudson love is on overflow. Does anyone honestly think he would've done as good as he has in the AL? How about in a small sandlot that we play in? Jackson always had the stuff and he's still pretty young. Hudson has decent stuff who didn't have the problems that EJ did. With that said, Jackson always had the higher potential. I'm sure KW wasn't like "We'll give you Hudson for EJ...waddayasay?" He probably started with Threets and found out he had to give up Hudson. Maybe Coop didn't like something Hudson did, or didn't do, similar to BMac. Maybe the people who still want Hudson here were BMac's biggest supporters. Either way, keep in mind Jackson was in high demand. You were going to have to give something up. Especially considering they give up Scherzer for him.

Sox @ Red Sox (Game 1 and Game 2)
He's either going to dominate, or he's going to suck. Let's hope it's dominate or else we'll be playing catchup with our bullpen.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) So would you do it? I would. 2 years 14 million. Nobody will offer him more than that. Wouldn't that be fair to both parties? I mean if you don't want him, who do you want at first? Viciedo/Teahen platoon? Paulie makes more sense than that. Depends on what KW does with the rest of the team.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) He may not be finished, but with his age and hip he is a HUGE risk to fall off big time in the next year or two, so to sign him to a 2 or 3 year contract is VERY risky. Just look at AJ, who has been healthy, but that one extra year on his body has slowed him tremendously, even though he just had one of his best offensive years just last year. So offering Konerko a 2yr/20 mill contract is EXTREMELY risky. This. I don't like power hitters with hip conditions. I also don't think he will come close to this year's numbers. JMO.

MANNYPALOOZA 2-0!!! SOX WIN!!!
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) No. We said he's not an ace. Not yet. His potential has always been an ace. He's played like an ace since he's hooked up with Coop. If the Sox were somehow to make the playoffs, Edwin should be the Game 1 starter.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Just thought I'd list the highlights of the game thread. I just got in and read it now. My favorite: fat f*** after Bobby gave up a hit. That last one wasn't a rip. Fathom was being nice. He was just concerned at Jenks' heavy work load of late. Maybe they didn't mean it like you didn't mean you didn't care if the Sox won, even though you posted it in the Manny thread.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) You guys don't think Konerko can hit for 2 more season?? You have that little confidence in a guy having an incredible season?? I was saying "If" he didn't hit he wouldn't be a complete washout cause the guy can field. I cant imagine him suddenly sucking at the plate next year. I don't considering the condition of his hip.

His GAR is terrible. He's at negative 8.

Why is The Cell pointed South-East?
Soldier Field is atrocious, but you can't really blame that on Daley. He wanted an indoor venue to host many different things. Either way, I've never met anyone who likes Soldier Field's design. PLUS THEY HAVE BLUE SEATS!!! As far as the Cell, I like it a ton. They have come a long way with that ballpark. I don't forsee them moving for a while though. I'd probably say maybe in 50 years if that. The United Center is a place that should've been moved. It's in a bad location, but it's arguably the best venue we have.

Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 02:54 AM) Ugh, I cant believe TV Land put that show on its late night lineup. It's not that hard for the first 3 quarters if you're interested in seeing your team's draft picks and young guys. The 4th quarter is too hard to sit through. And it could be worse, ie Spring Training. I honestly would rather sit through that than preseason football. It's brutal. At the same time, it is necessary IMHO. That's why I hope the NFL doesn't change the season to 18 games. Can you imagine all the records and stats easily broken because teams are playing two more games a season?

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:11 AM) This. Tony Pena gets some blame too though. As a reliever, your job right there is to minimize the damage and keep your team in the game. Not only did he let the two inherited runners score, but he also let two of his own batters score as well. Unacceptable. Tony Pena gets some blame. And ordinarily, if this was almost any other game, he would get all of it. But not today. Today Danks is the goat. He took a Thumper Dumper all over last night's game. Never gave the team a chance. Even when his offense was trying to back him. He had one of those Estaban Loaiza 2004 games where 10 runs would've never sufficed for him because he'd give up 11.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 02:29 AM) Yes but we didn't acquire him as a bench player. If he had played third all year instead of good glove Omar, you could argue we'd have never been in the race. Omar has made some great plays and makes ALL the routine ones. Mark? Yikes. And KW penciled him in as everyday 3B. Honestly though, you are sounding like Balta with Edwin Jackson/Dan Hudson when it comes to Mark Teahan. Your expectations are ridiculous for the guy and you are just waiting to pounce on him whenever, regardless of circumstance. Did you think he was going to be one of our main hitters? I definitely didn't based on his Royal days. I expected him to be a solid 8th or 9th hitter with some pop, but lots of K's. I also didn't expect him to play his whole Sox career at 3B. He's not a butcher, but he isn't anything more than average there. Whether that has to do with him being moved around so much or what, doesn't matter. But of all things to complain about, you're going to complain about the size bat he brings to the plate and the fact that he couldn't get a solid hit off of the best closer in history and his ridiculous cutter which he probably has a patent on? Really?! How about let's blame Danks who did a #3 on the bed? How about Pena who has been worthless since he came here and has never shown a spark? How about our pitching as a whole minus one Edwin Jackson who have let us down since the ASB? Nah, it's easier to blame a guy who's been playing pretty damn good since he came back from his 2 month long DL stint.
