QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) South Loop never boomed, it busted with over development and bankrupted contractors. Commercial is thin and its a buyers market through and through. Exactly, right now is a buyer's market. South Loop is up and coming. There was an article tying it into... QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) And most of "historic" Bronzeville is a crime ridden ghetto. So don't buy there, either. heh Bronzeville and South Loop with the mayor pooring in some decent coin to develop those two areas after failing to get the Olympics. I believe I read it on city-data or Red Eye. I'll try to find the article.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 18, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) Leverage for what? To get a better team that he can grow with in Cleveland. Similar to Kobe and the Bulls. He may like the Bulls alot and be enamored with them, but he wants to win a championship where he currently is at. Antawn Jamison was a good scorer on a crap team. He should almost never be a number two scorer. Mo Williams is a decent player, but he shouldn't be your 2nd best player. They were depending on an aging Shaq and Ilgauskus. Anthony Parker was their starting 2 guard which is almost as bad as the Lakers at one point having Smush Parker as the starting PG.

Is he still wearing his street clothes or does he actually have wrestling wear? -
I doubt LeBron is already house shopping. He's going to be working out in Chicago with Eddy Curry, but he did so last year as well(without Eddy). In fact, he spent most of his summer in Chicago. I still doubt LeBron comes. I'm pretty sure he's using us for leverage, Eddie Jones style.

I still think Ozzie is a decent manager. The problem is, KW let's him play GM with the roster and coaching staff and we've seen how that blows up in his face. What KW needs to do is pick the team he wants. Sign the players he wants to. For Ozzie to be successful, you must Ozzie proof the lineup.

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ May 14, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) Boers and Bernise talked about this on the SCORE months ago, and someone called up and said that they won't put in the turf because of soccer. That whatever governing body controls the international games played at Soldier Field doesn't allow the games to be played on that surface and only natural grass. I have no idea if that is true, but it would make sense as the Park District would be losing out on money if the soccer games were no longer held there. But who knows. I believe that is no longer true. Someone on this board brought it up months ago. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 14, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Its on him to prove he actually wants to win. The Bulls give him the best opportunity to win It's a matter of what's most important to him. Is it his legacy on the basketball court, or his life outside of basketball that is supreme? Remember, he stated he wanted to be a billion dollar athlete. Money is super important to him. If he wants pure money, he goes to New York. If he wants to be with what he knows, he stays in Cleveland, if he cares purely about his basketball legacy, he'll probably go to the Bulls. Honestly, I think winning isn't as important as you guys think he is. This guy is so self absorbed with himself, he believes he can win anywhere. For the most part, he is right. Without LeBron, Cleveland probably doesn't make the playoffs or they are an 8th seed. If he went to the Clippers, they would be a top team next year. Right now, he's mad because he lost after another great season. When they actually get a competent coach in there, they'll be fine. Of course, I'd gladly eat crow.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 9, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) Games on my list: Heavy Rain (waiting for when it comes down in price) 3D Dot Heroes ($40 seems like a fun price for a retro game) Red Dead Redemption (See above video) ModNation Racers (Love kart racers, love LBP) As someone who just played Heavy Rain, I'd suggest you rent it. It's kind of on the short side.

Honestly, I'm more interested in Alan Wake for the 360. My thing with RDR is that it's supposed to be bigger than GTA San Andreas. While tons of people loved how big it was, I really didn't. There was a ton of areas that were used for nothing more than scenery, not actual gameplay. I hated the long drives. The actual gaming portion itself was perfect though. I felt like I got the most out of my money with that game. Anything more though, and I would've quit the game and sold it. It filled me up to the top and gladly, nothing more. RDR, I bet, is going to have a ton of places in which you don't do much at all. The area is supposed to be, what, 4x's as big as SA? That's too much for me. And I'm not a huge multiplayer guy either with first person shooters. I like playing the story.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) I love Comcast's quality and speed, but they are too expensive. This. Honestly, my main gripe about them is how overpriced they are. Their internet speeds are great though as well as their picture(though it's not the best).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) I know there's a 'chance.' But folks are setting themselves up for some pretty massive disappointment. The thought of Lebron in a Bulls uni is just too improbable to comprehend. And I for one have never believed in miracles. I agree as well. He just wants to be showed some love, he'll get a new coach, get pampered by a couple of cities, then decide he wants to be in Cleveland where he is king.

The Bears should get the Field Play which is mixed in with real grass. -
Brown should've been fired ages ago. Heck, just last year, don't you remember when John Kuester had the board drawing up a play while Mike Brown was panicing in the background walking back and forth? The guy has been a joke.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 11, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Exactly. I know what it costs for the plant. Very, very well. That was my job. And I also know what they do to try and compensate. Most people won't know the difference. They turn on U-Verse HD and it looks decent... I know what to look for, though. And the HD quality of Uverse is a lot worse then cable. Uverse However, I do know that Uverse is also trying to change their technology a bit. I think they should have done so before they rolled out, but they were in a race to try to capture homes passed so they could drive their subs up. Now, they have to go back and spend more money to do it right. Cable - one of the first things that Time Warner did when they came into this market was upgrade the plant. But the problem with cable is that they run the signal through the nodes and you can have some heavy hitters on a node, and the node on the next block will be hit a lot less, but that's the breaks. They were working on controlling that, but they really have a hard time with that. They were trying to split the nodes to address this problem, but they can't totally compensate for it, so you have a degraded signal in one neighborhood as compared to another. Again, most common people don't notice it, but it does happen. Yep. In fact, when still on analog about 5-10 years back, in my area, channels 5 and 7 on Comcast would be completely blurry. I thought it was just my house, but then I went to several friends' houses in the same area, and it happened with every one of them for all of their tv's. Same lines and broken signal for those channels for almost every household. Only way around it seemed to be an amplifier from what I heard. Uverse in terms of Internet isn't bad. My gf has it and it gets the same constant speeds. She hasn't had a drop yet and she's had it for about 6 or 7 months. I will say their HD is not as good as Comcast's, but it is still pretty good and I don't think the average viewer can spot the difference.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 12, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) According to Sam Smith, sources around the league are saying LeBron is now taking the Bulls very seriously. If its a sign and trade, he has LeBron to Lakers for Odom/Bynum or the Bulls for Deng/Taj/1st. If it's just a signing then he has the Bulls being #1, and trying to trade Deng for a PF. The second I can, I sign LeBron, then call up the Suns or Wolves, who have both liked Deng in the past. Offer up Deng, a first, and maybe JJ in a sign-and-trade or normal trade for Stoudemire or Jefferson respectively. I lean towards Jefferson, as he would be cheaper. If they get Jefferson, sign Ray Allen and Brad Miller with the leftover money, then to round out the bench, sign Alexander, Pargo, Richard, someone else to minimums to round out the team. A starting lineup of Rose/Hinrich/LeBron/Jefferson/Noah with Taj/Allen/Miller coming off the bench would be near impossible for any team in the league to keep up with. That's not even feasible past signing LeBron. Deng would have to be traded, but the Suns won't take him because they don't like spending money, and they especially hate paying lux tax. Wolves won't take him, as he's in his prime now and the Wolves are nowhere near ready to compete for even an 8th seed. Last, but not least, his contract is going to look worse and worse as each year. Let's say they will take Deng though. The Bulls would be paying the lux tax without a doubt with either Stoudemire or Jefferson, and they would be paying quite a bit. Ray Allen will come cheap, but not Vet's exception. Maybe if you get LeBron, trade Deng and/or Hinrich, and go after Allen can you sign him. Brad Miller would almost definitely be gone as he's garnering interest from Houston, Sac-Town and another team I forget.

Back to the topic at hand. South Loop is my best suggestion. It's starting to boom and apparently, Daley and Co. are putting a lot of money into it and Bronzeville.

I say we interrogate them, Casino Royale style. Towards the end if you know what I mean.

Over under on 5 years until he's broke or should we set it lower? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2010 -> 08:30 AM) The question I care about is...what happens in his offense if you have both a play-making point guard and 2 guys who need to play down low (i.e. Bosh and Noah) or if you have 2 guys who are dynamic in attacking the basket (i.e. Rose/Wade or Rose/James). Bosh really doesn't play downlow. He's a faceup guy who prefers the high post, but he knows how to drive. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 6, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) That's where having a big with a jumpshot comes in handy. Ideally, you leave Noah around the rim, and you have Bosh cleared out a bit. The good news about both of those guys is that they're good enough handling the ball that they can drive. Bingo.
-
Yeah, the dribble drive offense is nothing like Phoenix's offensively actually. I don't know where Cal got that. It's more like Boston's. In fact, Boston runs a tangent of it IIRC. Basically, you don't need an awesome PG, you just need guys quicker than the defense who can get into the lane. The way it works is, Derrick has the ball, everyone basically clears out and he drives, once he gets right outside the lane, he has to make a decision. If he has his man beat, and no help is coming over, he goes to the basket. If the help comes, he dumps it off to the guy the defender was supposed to be guarding for an easy bucket. If everyone stays at home and Rose is unable to get into the lane, he can either spot up for the jumper if he likes it, or pass and they proceed to do the same. It works for big men that have speed(good for Noah and Tyrus, maybe for Taj; bad for Deng). That's the reason why there aren't high assist numbers in the offense. You are basically going one on one and passing it out if you are unable to make it past your defender and then they go one on one. Boston has a great setup for it though. They have a deadly shooter who will keep the other guard from cheating down, they have a PF who can beat most PF's nightly, they have a PG who's blazing fast, and they have another guy who can kind of do it all in Pierce. The only player who really doesn't fit that system is Perkins, but he's one of their defensive enforcers.
-
If we hired him, I would be happy if he brought World Wide Wes with him too. Then we'll have LeBron, Bosh and Wade all wanting to play for us.

Honestly, I had DirecTv for a year and Dish for 6 months. Honestly, I liked Dish's interface on their boxes alot more. Loved their DVR and the channel and picture quality wasn't too far off at all from DirecTV. The bill was pretty consistent. DirecTV seems like the pro choice, but my beef with them is their sports package to get Comcast SportsNet was 15 bucks extra a month, my bill was never the same month to month(I'm not talking $5 differences here either) and their prices on their boxes which you don't get to keep. Right now, I have Comcast as that's the only choice for me. I wanted U-Verse, but they charge for HD.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) IIRC most posters here felt Paulie offered the team a "home town discount". 'tis true. I personally didn't want him back only because I thought he was too slow, we started hearing about his hip condition, and in 2005, he didn't have a great year, save for the playoffs.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) I think part of it is that the jobs that he was interested ended up hiring before he could go through the interview process since his team tends to play deeper into the playoffs (Boston). Chicago might have hired him back when they hired Del Negro if they ever really had the opportunity to take care of that. It's actually because he's not a people person supposedly. There was an article today that compared him with the Hornets' first ever head coach. They said he was a greattttt assistant, but he just wasn't head coaching material for whatever reason.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) Couple of interesting pieces from a chat wrap by Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld (main rumors guy over there) that is Bulls related; Also, I wouldn't believe in Kyler. CBS just had an article today stating VDN wouldn't be fired "For Cause" and it seems like JR likes how he's handled the whole situation with Paxson. From what I've heard, JR is going to evaluate VDN, not Paxson. Also, the main thing in the article stated the players really liked VDN. I suspect that's because he allows them to play with freedom and has their back, especially in Noah's case which was stated in an article on Wednesday.
