  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) I'd bleep myself if we got Kemp. How is he doing this year? Not great. He's doing better as of late, but his owner questioned his desire which is never good.
  2. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) True, but it's not unheard of. Kenny did this a few years ago with the Rangers (McCarthy for Danks). Yeah, but didn't we give up someone else to make it "even"? I gotta look it up. But still, those types of trades happen very rarely.
  3. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) The Padres are contending and A-Gon is under control for another year. He's not coming. Votto would be a surprise, but aren't the Reds contending as well? Justin Morneau me! Frank Thomas out of retirement? David Ortiz? Kevin Youkilis? Billy Butler? Manny Ramirez?
  4. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Or pick up the option for next season that Berkman may require to waive his NTC. That too.
  5. My guess would also be A-Gon. Or maybe it's not even a trade. Maybe he's trying to revive Ken Griffey Jr. Watch him pull off a trade for Joey Votto though. That would be amazing.
  6. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) Agreed with all of this. Jackson is barely a major league starter, and he's owed ~$10M. If Kenny was looking to move Hudson before he was exposed as over-hyped, he could've dealt him for another prospect. Taking on that salary for a below-average pitcher when the Sox already have something like $70M committed to next season and several holes to fill makes little sense to me. Usually teams don't trade top prospects for top prospects for the reason you mentioned. The team receiving the overhyped prospect would think to themselves, "Why do they want to trade us their top pitching prospect for one of our guys?" Then they'll proceed not to do the deal because they'll think possible injury, lack of potential, or lack of major league potential.
  7. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Yes trading a SP who's under team control for 6 more years for a SP who's marginally better, cost 10x more, and is only under team control for another year; qualifies as a sh**ty move. More so than the Swisher trades. In the 1st Swisher trade no prospect came close to Hudson's value now(losing Sweeney sucked but we didn't completely overpay); the 2nd trade, we did get screwed return-wise, but at least we were dumping Swisher's increasing salary that helped us re-sign Floyd, trade for Peavy, and acquire Rios. In this trade we took on ~$10M in salary for a minimal upgrade. And please don't give me the "he's young" talk, he's under team control for another year and guess who is agent is....Boras. Don't talk about how someone is a great young project when they're paid like a proven veteran. Sweeney had arguably as much if not more value than Hudson did. Hudson was an unknown up until last year. The 2nd Swisher trade, we received absolute garbage. Betemit sucked it up so bad, that despite Ozzie trying to force him to play at least halfway decent, he couldn't. Even Ozzie mentioned it. Marquez is hot trash and Nunez ain't so much better. I'm also pretty sure Floyd would've been resigned regardless. Rios was considered a dumb move by everyone when it actually happened except for like 5 people on this board. Peavy was no sure thing. Also, hindsight is a dangerous thing. Who's to say KW wouldn't have had a different plan to get us some players? KW usually has a Plan Z for things. As far as upgrade, you haven't seen him pitch with us. We do not know how he's going to perform. You can say he's sucked this year, but that's why he was available to us. He also was pretty good the previous two years in the AL against good hitting ballclubs. You also don't know if Hudson will ever figure it out. He can easily become another Brandon McCarthy.
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Not according to what I've read, which is the astros got crap and yanks are just absorbing salary Looks like kenny doesnt want Fat Elvis Or KW isn't willing to take Berkman's contract at his production. I wouldn't either as he hasn't been fantastic for awhile.
  9. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) This is a terrible trade for the White Sox, maybe one of Kenny's worst. I have all the faith in KW and there have been numerous times where we've all been proven wrong and I pray this is one of those times. But on face value we traded our best pitching prospect, who was filling in nicely as the #5 but had the ceiling of mid-rotation, who was under team control cheap for 5+ years for a mid-rotation type who's under control for one more year after 2010 and who's contract will balloon to $8.35 M next year. Not to mention we also kicked in another decent(LHSP? I thought we were low on those) prospect in Holmberg. Nothing against Jackson, he's got potential, but you don't trade Hudson for him. The only way to rectify this is if we make an even swap of EJ for Dunn. No other prospects included; i f**king mean it not even a Josh Kroeger type. No Viciedo. No Flowers. No Morel. Just EJ for Dunn. That way it works out as Hudson/Holmberg for Dunn. But even then were left with a hole in the back of the rotation Seriously guys? This is the worst trade KW has ever made? This has been a terrible deadline? I've seen several people mention it so far. Um, this guy has way better stuff than Hudson does, is still relatively young, has experience pitching in the AL Central, has experience being in a pennant race, and is under control for another year for decent money. Now I know what people mean when they say the Sox have overvalued Hudson. The way I think of him is the way people thought of Jeff Bajanaru.
  10. I haven't read everything and probably won't because I don't have that type of time. In the end though, I'm very happy if we keep Jackson. As a 4th or 5th starter, he can definitely get us to the playoffs. In the playoffs, he can be an electric arm out of the pen. I think if he can get with a good pitching coach, he's a better player for it. I won't be too upset if he isn't flipped for Dunn or anyone else.
  11. Honestly, Uribe wouldn't be bad. He can show Dayan how to be good at defense while still being fat.
  12. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) We seem to trade an awful lot of pitching. Which I guess makes sense considering that is what most teams want in return, but geez...I would think we are going to get smoked on one of these deals with pitching some day. Well, the good thing, for the most part is that we have starting pitching in their prime. We don't have much to worry about with it now. In the future though, we should probably hang on to Sale, and draft high ceiling pitching prospects. I want to keep Hudson, I really do, but Dunn's out there and I think he would help us much more.
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Levine says to acquire Dunn it is going to take Hudson + one of Flowers/Morel/Bad Danks. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5414243 I'd give up Hudson and D2 or Flowers. I don't forsee Flowers or D2 reaching their potential. Plus we have Mitchell as a backup OF. We need to find some catcher in Cuba somewhere to take over for when AJ retires.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) I honestly have no idea what I'd think if the Bulls signed Shaq. I'd lean towards being against it though because he looked so terrible in Cleveland last year, they were better when he wasn't on the floor. Agree and Disagree. The Cavs were better when he was off the floor, but that's due to two reasons. One is the Cavs love to push the ball because they cannot run any efficient halfcourt sets. The only thing they knew how to do was give the ball to LeBron and let him create by driving and getting to the FT. With Shaq, that's all they did as well when he was on the floor and they never really moved without the ball in the halfcourt. Shaq was still getting opposing centers in early foul trouble and he was still a decent option on the floor. I'd certainly thinking about bringing him in. Him and Boozer would flat out handle Bosh and whoever else you throw next to him.
  15. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) What was that song that opened up the episode last night? It was pretty tight. Big Boi - Shutterbug (Produced by Scott Storch)
  16. Yeah, Upton is probably the most laziest player in the majors these days. Guy always has a bad attitude, even if he's in the wrong.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) I can name 3, maybe 4-5 people who deserve one. Problem is...I worry that teams will start overpaying once they miss out on the top 3. Lebron, Wade, Bosh guaranteed, Amare, Lee, Johnson, Nowitzki, Boozer LeBron Wade Bosh Amare Dirk Ming if he opts out Lee, Johnson, and Boozer won't get maxed out. Of the 3, Boozer has the best chance though.
  18. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) Deng is going to play. That's not going to be an issue. The Bulls had to trade a 1st rd pick and $3 million just to get rid of Hinrich's much more absorb-able contract. The Bulls can't just drop Deng's contract for a 2nd rd pick. If they could have, I'm sure they would have. It's going to take talent and a lot of cash to get rid of it. The cost of trading Deng would be greater than the cost of keeping him. It's a big contract, but it's really not hindering the Bulls from doing what they want. Kirk Hinrich has been terrible for 3 years. I would LOVE for the Hinrich of 4 years ago to resurface, but at this point he's defensive specialist, and certainly not a good 6th man. The drop from him to a guy like Chris Duhon is negligible IMO. Deng is not much better, especially at his contract. Keep in mind, he's getting paid as much, if not more than Andre Iguodala and he's not better than him. He's a vastly overpaid player as a starter. When you're paid that much, you're either an all-star, or you have a huge impact on your team winning games. Deng really is neither. If you put him on the bench, he is Allan Houston bad. Deng should've been traded before Hinrich.
  19. BTW, anyone try mlb.tv on the PS3 this weekend? They gave a free preview. I'm shocked at how good the HD feed is on it.
  20. Microsoft wasn't a mess at E3. They just had a lot less to offer. Nintendo pulled out all the stops.
  21. I've always been a fan of Science & Industry. They have their new storm exhibit up too.
  22. "When he and his wife fight, Oscar De La Hoya promotes it on PPV."
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) I don't care about his philosophy, i care about the results. The facts are that we haven't hit worth a damn since 2006, someone should take the fall for that. This.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:19 AM) You are pretty much screwed. I believe the lemon law only applies to new cars. However, the fact that you have your extended warranty should cover you. I also should piont out that Jeep is notorious for having serious issues with there products. I know there will be people who will tell stories about there jeeps that have worked well, but in general, they build a very very poor product. The reason it is popular is because of the uniqueness and the Jeep Wrangler is a fantastic off-road vehicle. This.
