QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) Todd Collins sucks. Seriously, how bad does Caleb Hanie have to be to not beat out a 38 year old with no arm who has started like 6 games since 1998. Only reason why he's #2 is because he knows the offense. -

It's completely on the offensive line. You can clearly see the talent, or lack thereof. They got a bunch of 3rd stringers playing. -

How come the Cena vs Wade match wasn't in Hell in a Cell. Isn't that what it was advertised as? If I ordered the PPV, I would be pissed and ask for a refund. -
Saw it Friday. I was one who thought it's stupid to make a movie out of it, but Aaron Sorkin did a damn good job. Only 2nd to Inception for me.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) Jayson Werth is a FA, just saying. Who's being marketed as a CF by Scott Boras. No thanks. Honestly, if I'm KW I go after Matt Kemp. -

Honestly, they should only keep the WCW World Heavyweight Title. That looks like a real championship belt. The WWE championship looks like s***. And the unified title belt looks almost as bad. Agreed Randy sucks as a face And John Cena needs to lose on Sunday -

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 12:41 AM) Not saying you're wrong at all, because the offseason warrants anything, but- I remember Ozzie stepping into s*** after he was especially vocal about retaliation. I think his feelings on this matter were clear to the point that umpires may have shat, so to speak, on his parade by throwing out warnings early on. Guillen isn't broke but getting fined for thousands of dollars probably doesn't and shouldn't sit well with him. The uber-informative media (which as much as I'd like to rip, I can't because they're simply doing their job) lets everyone know the scent of Corky Miller's farts, so Guillen talking about how much better a Twins hitter would look with a fastball (not from MB) on his torso would probably make headlines in Bolivia, or Saturn . I think his message was made clear when (I can't recall his name off the top of my head) ran out of vagisil and couldn't quite locate a hitter and ended up the f*** off this team. I don't need to read it in the Tribune to know that Ozzie doesn't like his guys getting hit. Similarly, ANY manager or coach is going to kiss the ass of the team that beats their team to win the division. What can one possibly do or say in such a situation? Final standings speak for themselves. Ozzie said he doesn't order retaliations at all anymore. That's up to the players to protect each other. He said he didn't want to get in trouble, but if a teammate feels that another teammate was hit intentionally, and wants to order a hit, then he's all for it. The only time when a hit was ordered by another player was when Konerko got hit by the Twins. And Ozzie amongst others on this team compliment the Twins so much on how great they are. I didn't hear much of "We're a great team, we can beat them." It was more like "They're a great team. I told everyone in Spring Training. Oh yeah, we're in first now, but the Twins are coming." It was like they conceded the division before they got their asses handed to them. And PK was as much of a factor in that as Ozzie. -

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I love both of the younger starters, but I see Floyd being moved before Danks, with the latter getting an extension. If one of the two were to be moved I'd certainly rather see it happen like that. The return should be nothing less than a player who contributes and makes the Sox a better club at once, nothing less. In a perfect world Danks, Peavy, Jackson, Buehrle, Floyd- that is a rotation that implies the team is serious about winning. This is of course assuming someone's nose, eye, or pitching arm doesn't randomly detatch (Peavy), no hitters and perfect games are kept to minimum (Buehrle), and others don't get traded for the sake of being traded just because (Jackson). I get the feeling that if Konerko wants to stay here, he will, payroll be damned. Reinsdorf will do that for this guy. Konerko's statement today was nothing more than a canned statement that pretty much any good ballplayer stepping into free agency says. I hope he's back for 2 years/reasonable $$$ I love all his contributions, but I'll take no PK next year and some cash. I think we need a different leader in the clubhouse and it can't be Ozzie. We need someone who would order for a retaliation when one of our get hit. We need someone who won't take getting our asses handed to them. And we need someone who will b****slap someone for complimenting the Twins on how great they are. BTW, Danks will be traded first. He'll demand more money and will be a pain to sign. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) did anyone happen to net any tickets to the bulls heats game in January? the presale started at 10 am, and all the presale tickets were gone for that game at 1, and only a few singles tickets remains for the laker game From what I heard, tickets other than single seat were gone when the presale started. Naturally Bulls fans went after Laker tickets, then Boston. I knew I wasn't going to get Heat tickets unless I got a season ticket package, so I decided to hold off on that. My woman gets a discount through her job anyway.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) On the SCORE this mornign they were talking about how the Bears kept Harris over Alex Brown because they felt Brown would be a rabble rouser when it came to the players union....ya that is good move. The Bears need to just realize that Tommie Harris is not good anymore and be done with it. Haynesworth is a headcase but at least he still may have talent. Harris is just injured and bad. Well Drew suprisingly was trying to calm him down saying he's still coming back from injury, he has to understand the Bears' stance, etc. Kind of weird, but I think Harris just needs a change. -

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Bears benched Tommie last night because they got wind of him having a conversation with his agent Drew Rosenhaus about how the Bears disrespect him and he wants out immediately. Tommie for Albert swap? -
In the end, I see both sides just waiting to see what the figures are for contracts under the new CBA. Joakim sees it would be significantly less and signs the deal on the table now.
-
BTW, it's been reported Joakim was offered 5 years/57 million a few weeks ago, and was none too happy about it. Apparently, he's looking for max money, or at least what Bynum got. The reported figure when the story first drop was higher for the initial offer.
-
Harris is more of a scoring combo guard. The plan in NJ is to matchup Melo and Lopez, possibly bring in a guard next year, and build the rest with role players. It would make them a perennial playoff team which would be good at first, but I don't know how much farther they would get. I think they're better off keeping Favors. I think he has a ridiculously high ceiling.

Jets are a talented team, but they are overrated IMHO. Sanchez is not the QB everyone thinks he is. They're a playoff team, but I just can't see them beating the elite teams when it comes time. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) From the White Sox perspective, why would they give Ozzie an extension now when they control him for 2 seasons? I think KW did the smart thing as stayed above it all and quoted JR as being on his side. Obviously this is a childish fued that needs to stop one way or another. Telling Ozzie to go make a deal with another team and the Sox will discuss compensation with that team is the way I would go. Pinella netted the Mariners Randy Winn. The Marlins are always looking to dump some youngster about to get paid closer to what they are worth. Its a match made in heaven. I wonder if Oney does Ozzie's prep work for him. One day Ozzie is talking about a team that dropped 6 games in the standings in a week as a team that doesn't quit and how proud he is. The next, he's looking for an extension. If he didn't like his last extension, again, I wonder why he signed it. Good post. I wonder where it'll go. Honestly, I think both KW and Ozzie end up staying.
-
I'm in between them all. I like Ozzie, but no so sure to what degree if it comes down to obtaining a different manager. For example, if we hired Cito Gaston, I'm sure we would've loved some of the moves he did in game, but at the same time, would have hated his lack of feel for the game. Like when a pitcher is hot, and he takes him out just to put in his closer who the hitter is batting .097 against in his career. Then the closer gives up a blown save. I'm sure soxtalk would be asking for his head for taking out such a hot pitcher for someone else just to play a numbers game. Bottomline, if we win with any manager, we're going to need the horses. At first I wanted to see Ozzie go, but now after thinking about it, I'm not so sure. Who else would be significantly better? I sure wish his kid would shutup about team business though.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) A higher pick means nothing. There are too many variables in the baseball draft to think a spot or two matter. I'd think you would say Teahen "screwed us over" by maybe impressing somebody to not get rid of him this winter. Hopefully Kotsay simply won't be invited back. Thanks for the victory today, though, Mark and Mark. I'll take it. This team won't lose 13 in a row and tie for the all time record White sox losing streak. Guess I should've used green.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) James Bond drinks martinis, plays Baccarat, drives Jaguars, and wears tuxedos. If you de-Bond him like they've been doing, you might as well make it a Bourne movie. Aston > Jaguar Martinis = teh suck Hold'Em > Baccarat He wore tuxedos with Dan Craig. And last, but not least, Vesper > Any Bond girl ever.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) I believe I'll be taking my talents to NBA 2k11 this season. The Elite demo was pure TRASH. This is coming from one of the biggest NBA Live fans around too. So disappointed. The demo did some good things. The bad things are, the remote at times is unresponsive. And the controls take some getting used to. But the controls in the end are great at the same time. I liken it to FIFA. Total control with the ball. I think it can be great a few years down. I also liked the Legendary mode. No doubt about it though, 2k11 seems like the better game this year though.

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Media Day for the Timberwolves is on Friday, with Training Camp starting the next day. I'm really looking forward to this season, for some reason. You're a T-Wolves fan? The bright side is, their uni's are less horrific. And they got a decent player in the draft. I still see them in the lottery. And that's honestly what they need. They need to load up on young good talent so they don't get stuck in mediocrity again.

Even when the Sox win, Kotsay and Teahan screw us over. Worse chance at a higher pick thanks to them.
