One that won't make me nervous, wondering what to do, one that makes me feel when I'm with you. When I'm alone with you.

Where would he play?

Where do you think the Sox will be at seasons end?
retro1983hat replied to chisoxdavid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it's a 4-team race to get 2 playoff spots. Red Sox, Yanks, Twins and White Sox. The only saving grace is that Boston and NY will still play eachother causing one or both of them to lose a fair share of games. We need to keep winning, but you gain ground by SWEEPING series. If we take 2-of-3 from the Tigers, we gain 1 game. We sweep, we gain 3. -
Also, with the current state of over cautious companies, I would expect at least two more rounds of interviews. Probably one with your direct supervisor and then one with that person's supervisor as well as some others you would be working with. I once had an interview for a GREAT job with Allstate. They said they received 350 resumes for this one job. I had to do a phone interview, HR interview, supervisor interview, department interview, and a director interview. For the director interview it was down to me and another person ...... Damn it, I didn't get it. That's just the way it is sometimes. Other tips I have heard is not to talk salary in the first interview. It all depends on your situation. If you really need the job, you will probably not talk salary until the end of the process or until they offer you the job. Whereas if you already have a decent job and are just looking for something different, you might want to ask up front so you haven't wasted a month of your time. Especially if you have had to come up with creative stories to get out of work for the interview. Keys are to: Ask questions. Follow up with a thank you note and remember to include something you talked about in the interview that will make them remember you and you can highlight your skills. Turn questions into a positive. If they ask why you don't have a master's degree, you may say that you plan to work on that soon, or highlight your experience instead. Sometimes, it's just plain luck. But you will only have yourself to blame if you didn't do all you could to get the job, and didn't get it.

I keep hearing that the Sox have not fired on all cylinders this year. Perhaps, this is the team we have. One that has enough talent to be in it until the end, but is not sound fundamentally. If we had lesser talent the way we are playing, we'd be 20 games out. Remember how many Thome home runs and 8 run games made up for the fact that our starters have been average to below-average this year. Now we are in the dog days and hitters always go through slumps and our pitching is still just as bad as it was at the beginning of the year. Last year we won plenty of 3-2, 2-1, 1-0, games, this year if we don't put a 6-spot on the board, we are going to lose.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) FYI, to anyone that wants to go there and pay... they have camera's all over the place so whatever you do, or have done to you, is being filmed. And since you have to know someone to get that "treatment" you can bet that information is being saved to haunt you at a later date. I suppose this is true. Besides, the fact that the Admiral doesn't serve alcohol (and the $20 cover) means you won't be there for long. I was there for a bachelor party once and after about an hour, we were just a bunch of sober perverts vs. drunk obnoxious perverts. Wasn't as much fun sober.

I don't like having my ice cream mixed with the 3200 other people's ice cream that came before mine. It sounds oh so novel of a concept, but in the end, they could get the same result mixing in M&Ms in your own bowl with a spoon.
-
I hate them all. I can go out with my wife if I want to spend a fortune to go home frustrated. The Admiral is especially seedy. I think the Admiral can be better if you know who to talk to there. I think they have MANY back rooms and hidden areas where you can get into if you know certain people or if you are willing to spend.

No way he plays tomorrow. Ozzie always rest a hurt player a second day.
-
Ozzie should be considered a terrible in-game manager if he lets Vasquez go out for the sixth inning in his next start. How many stats and lost games does Ozzie need to show him he can't pitch past five innings. It's not only dumb, but ignorant.
-
Why Booooooo the greatest player in Sox history. I have no problems with Frank. As a fan, he didn't disrespect me at all. He, Ozzie and Kenny can have their pissing contest.
-
How many times in the last two weeks have we had men on third and less than two outs and failed to get them in? Too many. Last year it seemed like those were automatic runs. We are playing dumb, slow, 2001-2004 White Sox baseball right now.
-
The blockbuster trade may be us having a fire sale. Three run lead for Santana is like a 10 run lead for most pitchers.
-
Ozzie flat-out mismanaged this game. Pitching to the best hitter in baseball with first base open. Dumb! This team thinks that because they held off the Indians by the skin of their teeth last year that they can just turn it around any time they want. The division is close to being over and by the weekend we could be in third in the wild card.

Hawks Finally Make a Move

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) If the Hawks could nap someone like Peca that would be great. The Hawks have been napping for 10 years. -
Brooks Boyer: AJ, we are putting a copy of this letter signed by you on the White Sox Website. AJ: Huh? Boyer: You know, a letter to thank the fans. AJ: Uh, OK.

My wife and I watch it. It's great brainless summer TV. I do have to say that if you've never watched it and you just randomly turn it on, you would think you've stumbled upon the dumbest thing ever leveled upon society. I do have to admit liking it though.

I'm pretty much done with Jim Thome!

Rowand would've had 3 HRs. -
I have noticed this year more and more, DJ is doing the bulk of the play-by-play and Hawk drops in a word or two each inning. I know the Wimpy used to do an inning and for a while DJ used to do one as well, but it seems as if DJ is taking over the PBP. Anyone heard anything?
-
I have voted a ton. But for some reason, I don't get the feel the push is as great this year as last. I even think the Sox took out ads in the newspapers last year for Pods.

He has written about the Sox in his column for years. He has been a life-long fan.

Who won the world series the year you were born?

Pitsburgh Pirates, 1971. -
Rowand would've hit it farther.
