  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Just when I was thinking "at least the Trubiskey pick makes the bears potentially interesting at some point this year," you remind me of why I hated it back when it was made. FWIW Carr only spent his sophomore year in a pro-style offense. Tim DeRuyter was his next coach and he spent his last 2 years in the spread.
  2. I recognize the "it can't be worse than now" rarely works out, but seriously. Glennon is strictly dumping the ball down to the runningback. Defenses will give that up all day. Trubisky can do that, and get more reps at dropping back and calling mike. Re sacks: frankly a ton of them have been due to Glennon not stepping up. Trubisky is much more mobile in pocket.
  3. I think if they were going to they would have done it by now.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 01:11 PM) Its football. Violent sport. People get hurt and a lot. It's getting worse. I'm tired of watching the defense being comprised of half of the september practice squad every year. The 2006 bears had an offensive line that played all 16 games together. Whens the last time any position had that for the bears? I don't think this is just the bears, but the NFL now is if like the entire MLB was the Mets in terms of injuries. Oh yay, can't wait to sit down to watch gary nichols, the undrafted WR from nicholls state face off against bran darbo the 7th round corner back. Should be exciting.
  5. The royals have always been an incredibly streaky team as their high contact finds holes, we could very well be facing the "May" royals that stormed back to relevance, or the 'April" royals that we embarrassed.
  6. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) Brutal injuries with this staff over the past couple seasons. And the injuries aren't felt broadly. Seems like 2-3 positions just have their entire 3-deep wiped out and it's just like how the hell do you win without any linebackers or receivers
  7. So Kwiatkowski likely done for year. So incredibly annoying every year seeing half the defense go on IR in weeks 2-4. Especially in preseason when everyones like "now that we are healthy we could be great on D". Football kinda sucks.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 09:58 AM) I lost one of those in each league. Hoping I can get Jesse James tomorrow for Greg. Yep. Same as every year for me. Start week 1 on fire, by week 2 half of those players go to IR and I pick the wrong replacements.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Our best offensive weapon so far maybe out and Speight is the most inaccurate QB that I can remember. He also is an awful decision maker. Brian you are great, but, Michigan fans aren't allowed to complain to mizzou fans about being bad.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 06:12 PM) They'll probably beat us next week. What we drinking? Not to discount Purdue, looks like they've found themselves a coach. But do not underestimate how bad mizzou is and has become under Barry Odom.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) Fulmer's delivery doesn't look nearly as violent as it did in college to me. No you are right but looked less contained than spring training.
  12. QUOTE (Quin @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) Coop fixed him? I kinda want to know something actually changed. His delivery kinda looks like his old one though.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) I think that was bmags. Fulmer looking good. Base hit for Abreu leading off the sixth. I'm so good at this. Call me reverse ron
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) The reason the popular metrics don't like Engel is solely because of his arm, apparently- but it's puzzling because his arm must be a complete and utter liability in order for it to offset his glove by so much. That's not totally true. His range metrics were worse than Leury at least last I checked.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) He rated a 0 in 2016 as well. And this data doesn't include the impact of the arm, right? Just catches made/not made. Correct
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Goes to show you how fickle this all is. There are Sox fans on Twitter who berate other fans for wanting guys like Beer instead of Kelenic or Turang, which is also pretty foolish IMO- what if Beer has a huge 2018 for Clemson and raises his stock again? So much can change between now and draft day. Maybe, but Beer is performing poorly with wooden bats for 2nd year in a row. And has no positional versatility. I really would not be surprised if he ends up dropping hard. He was hitting something like under .200 with the USA team.
  17. What if we signed Avi to 4/60 right now? Buy out his Arb years and get a 2 year extension? edit: I'm not really advocating htis, I'd rather we just let him play and then if he's still good either let him leave or sign him. But I question the "he'll get 100million" ideas.
  18. So regarding Engel's lukewarm defensive metrics...I trust this more https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/outs_above_a...2017&min=50 God I love baseball savant.
  19. I'm still always surprised by Moncada's speed. Speed is something where sometimes its kind of like a tier, where you are either fast, or acceptable, or paul konerko. And then some players just hit you with how much faster than "fast" you can be. When Yoan rounds third sometimes I think it's going to be like a cartoon, where he's running so fast the ground is going to start rolling up like a carpet behind him.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) This is a good post. Plus if you wait another year you get to see if he sticks to his conditioning through another offseason.
  21. This figures to be a high scoring affair, so when you mix in "baseball gonna baseball" I'd say 2-1 sox win.
  22. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 12:26 PM) They got a #7. I think the Nets pick will be in that range (unless the ping pong Gods say otherwise). I don't see it being demonstrably worse, especially if what the pundits say is true, i.e., that this upcoming draft won't be as good. They didn't get a #7, they traded UP to a #7. They gave up their first round pick to move up to a back end top 10. Had the bulls received that, they would be looking at 2 top ten picks next year. And if they didn't like that draft, they could spin that asset off for future drafts or players they preferred. It is very valuable.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) I don't disagree with any of this except for the "demonstrably worse" comment. I still don't see the return being "demonstrably worse" than what Cleveland got. If you think the purpose of trading Butler is to get equal NBA talent I guess I could see that, but if the purpose is to get the best future assets to set off rebuilding a championship team, I don't know how you don't see the unprotected Nets pick as an example of the single most important thing the bulls needed to start collecting. Instead at the end of draft night they had less picks than when they started. How they are still around...
