  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) I totally agree with you and I said at the time both Pittsburgh and Houston were stupid to not be in on that player. I wish them best of luck with the guys they have and hope they in the end are satisfied with how this season turns out. With Huntington he has to deal with being on the edge so much more than Houston. Q should have been a good fit but they have very difficult balance of how many positions they virtually have to fill internally. With the Astros, I straight up just think their scouting did not like Q and they seem to have a very inward looking and confident player eval system that has worked for them. I would bet against them on Q, but for the Pirates I just feel bad. I wish they'd have gone for it but if they had Q would be mired in a nother "just not quite good enough" team.
  2. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) Do people realize they are doing to Kahnle what we hate other fanbases for doing to their prospects after they are traded? Acting like he sucks and will be a bust even though there have been multiple articles about how Kahnle is one of the best relievers in the game. Uh nobody thinks that he sucks. But, as a fan, I have seen the sox get screwed by a dominant jesse crain losing his arm, nate jones losing his arm, robertson blowing 8 run leads last year, etc. You would be much better off constantly trading overperforming relief pitchers like Kahnle than trusting that they will continue their performance. I respect that system because it will be right more often than not. You want to bet that Kahnle will be in the "not", and that's a bet I don't want to take. How many relief pitchers have been good for more than 3 years?
  3. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) Not to mention they are also up against a 40 man roster crunch in the offseason so they need to unload some guys or risk losing them. Maybe Cashman can't manage to do that and we steal a guy. That might make me like this trade a little more. Our rule 5 next year could look a lot like Pads this year.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Honestly I'd take just Rutherford back for all 3 (Somewhat kidding) Ha, did soxfan ever follow up on this? I was at game and had a lot of fun, but missed out on this fun.
  5. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) What makes you think odds of Kahnle keeping it up is slim to none? The fact that he's upped his FB velocity to 98 MPH, his increased his swing strike % and is amongst league leaders, his extremely low FIP, xFIP, or his relatively high BABIP? Oh, and he's going to be cheap for the next 3 and a half years, while it may take the same time for Rutherford reach the big leagues, if he does. Did Kahnle increase his FB velocity? I thought he always threw hard, i thought it was just swarzak with the increased velocity.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) Hopefully we at least floated the idea and maybe the Yankees weren't willing, but I wish we had ate some money on Robertson's deal to get a better 4th piece than Polo. But oh well, hard to be that upset about getting a guy like Rutherford. Yeah this is how I feel. Frazier I expected nothing. And quite honestly the robo/kahnle for Rutherford doesn't seem insane, it's just I worry about putting our hat on Rutherford as that guy. Had we been the ones responsible for getting them below luxury tax, I think we could have gotten a more interesting player.
  7. The big disconnect here was basically money. Robertson got basically a non return because of the Frazier/robo cash. Kind of annoying but Robert and all.
  8. Ryan McGuffy said last week that Moncada felt about 90% with his wrist and when he felt 100% he'd come up.
  9. It is sad that this was like, the end of our trade rumors in one big blast. Rutherford would do well to hit some more grand slam walkoffs soon. Swear to God W-S and kanny better win the damn 2nd half.
  10. I'm not crazy about bragging about Fulmer at #59 like that's a real thing anymore
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:37 PM) Not yet, need some big INF prospects. I like Burger and Sheets but after seeing Jimenez, Moncada, and Rutherford coming through those two look average at best There's this Moncada guy
  12. I'm not crazy about Rutherford after his power outage but I think it's largely due to that damn fake trade tweet anchoring me
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 09:35 PM) Pretty bizarre of them not just to dispel the rumor immediately, like the Nats just did. See how easy that was, Astros? Everything leaks from the Nats. Either from their location or something else, reporters have sources in Wash up and down.
  14. Lol it was for a baserunning mistake.
  15. Gonna put my guess on someone nobody suspects. That's all I got.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) I still believe they will get it done. I did and still do, but Moran and Lee just came out against it. I think they can be won back since they did not list demands, but I don't know. It was a pretty hefty statement.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) You also have your primary residence in your main district. DC is absurdly expensive. Maybe I'm tone deaf, but I can appreciate the concept. I agree but maybe they could also use this opportunity to relax the height standards in DC that cause housing shortages?
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Get caught up on a very busy week down on the farm in the weekly News and Notes article on FutureSox. Big trade, small trade, injury updates, releases, promotions, in-person reports from AZL, and more. Lots of good notes (actually they were kinda sad) on player health updates. Man, year 2 has been so annoying in player development. Burdi TJS, Curbelo knee, Call ribs. Thanks for the updates on where these players disappear to. Sad news on Cooper, hope he is getting whatever he needs at home.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) They have Goldman coming back and added a few veteran DB's. I think they're a top 12 D I'm done relying on any bear to actually stay healthy. We may as well just look at our 2 deep and expect that. It's been so frustrating. How many games out of our all pro guards do we think we'll really get?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Elaborate on why he's a ******? You can ask indians fans for the day to day stuff, but when people have a problem with Bauer it's largely around his twitter feed. He has a reputation for being a handful, and being oft-injured most tribe fans don't think he's worth it.

  22. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) Regarding the speculated trades of Groome and Chavis for Frazier and Kahnle, plus Andujar from N.Y., for Robertson: I don't know if someone has mentioned that, in addition to the overly optimistic nature of this return, I can't understand why our Sox would be seeking both Chavis and Andujar in these trades. That would add 2 more third basemen to our number one pick in last years draft. You could even add Matt Rose to the list, as he is considered a plus defender, at 3RD, with a power bat. It seems a little like "overkill" at the hot corner. 1. Not all of them will pan out. 2. We have no current MLB 3b 3. They could move to 1b if they truly warrant it 4. Matt Rose isn't a consideration for anything. We need redundancy at every position, IMO, for this to work. Because we'll also need bullets to get a TOR or Bullpen guy in all likelihood.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Well technically worst case scenario would be Yordano Ventura or Jose Fernandez, right? I think we got to the bottom of this
  24. Good lord. I'm cynically reading that as now that MLB cut them off they are just going to roll with a 20 million dollar payroll to pay for their stadium. Just force a sale of that ridiculous franchise.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Y2Jimmy0 getting it done! Y2Yimmy now
