  1. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) Likely speculating on the price. I'd be thrilled to land a top 100 prospect for him I just think it's weird to go out a limb like that. Tweet I would expect: White Sox looking for a top prospect or two in return for David Robertson. And they think they can get it. Tweet we received: Sox will get at least one top 100 prospect for Robertson. This just after good but not top 100 guys were traded for 2 good bullpen guys. Just weird.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) Not only that, but he actually points out the quality of the return. That's a wild f***ing tweet. Seriously. Optimistically you'd want to hope this come from knowledge that there are some already on the table. But maybe even it's coming out of Nats saying they would have had to give one up for DRob? Weird timing and content. I don't feel like you see a prediction that explicit (top 100)
  3. 7 IP of shutout ball, 12 Ks. I knew Q would live up to it. Love that guy.
  4. Per White Sox Well deserved.
  5. This will be a painful second half.
  6. QUOTE (TRU @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) I think people are underestimating how bad this team is going to be once more of these guys get traded Seriously. Especially when our bullpen is gone.
  7. Good piece and great speed getting it live. I've referred to this about 5 times already.
  8. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) The Wsox should really try to add DRob and take on some of his $$$ to get a really nice package here. We were eating a bunch of robertsons salary in the proposed Nats DRob deal and only getting lizardo/Ward so I'm just going to expect about same. Maybe luzardo had a big reputation among scouts though.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) I don't see them "ponying up" per se. I doubt Robles, Fedde, and Soto are going anywhere. I think anyone else could be on table. Yeah I think they seriously expect a lot of Fedde in bullpen soon.
  10. I don't have FOMO of that return, at least. But sure makes me bring down my expectations for Robertson.
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) The fulll 3/4 seems an excessive price...that's an immense benefit to Texas and allows them to sign numerous prospects, they otherwise wouldn't be able to sign. And it costs them only 1 prospect? Most of the top 50 are signed. Not like they could use this to sign the top 10 guys.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) I'm not sure what you're asking. J2? If you mean international signings, I will ask this - how many of the top prospects we just acquired were international signings? But that's not my point anyway - my point is that we just gave Texas a goldmine, and received only 1 modest prospect in return. Now we may not have had any use for that goldmine ourselves...but you could say the same about Quintana - we had no use for him the next 2 years, but we still tried to get full value. I don't disagree with you on J2 and our performance, but complaining about this trade too much is essentially saying I didn't want to sign Robert. We could have treated this cash a la Baltimore and just got jack nothing for it, so to get a projectable SS is defensible. Because of Robert uncertainty in both money and time to negotiate I'm not shocked we couldn't fill out much of a class for 2017. I expect more next year.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) If this was the best offer for our cap space, I am 100% OK with it. It is a high ceiling guy with some flaws. If you can get through to him to stop swinging at everything, he has the tools to turn into something. If he busts, its not like we could use the cap space anyway. We did sign 2 guys too.
  14. https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/07/13/trade-rum...-home-runs-cubs Reminds me of Bo Jackson schoolyard legend type stuff
  15. Well I hope someone interesting comes back. Spent way too much time checking my phone.
  16. Not a good final for men's either. Cilic started weeping in second set. Go Rog though. Incredible.
  17. I look at as not much different than hoping on a prayer of a 16 year old LatAm signing, better this than letting it go to waste.
  18. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 10:53 PM) Just because he was relatively highly rated doesn't mean it was justifiable. There's nothing I can find that makes me think he gets any further than AA. Flete might never see the bigs but at he'll at least provide solid organizational depth. This kid just put up a 1.8% BB rate in A ball (where every second pitcher struggles to throw strikes). He gets to AA and he'll never see a hitable pitch with his lack of discipline. If he wasn't a SS he may have never moved past rookie ball. But when he has hit it he's shown pretty decent pop for his age. He also hasn't struck out that much considering his approach. To me that means he has decent contact ability if he can become moderately more selective. Is it unlikely? Yeah, but there aren't that many good defensive shortstop prospects with a power profile so you have to hope you hope on a weakness gets managed in their development, he's still 20, so he's young for high A. To say it isn't justifiable is crazy. Most prospects look like this, at least this guy isn't maxed out in body or projection.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) The 3-4-5 in Kanny right now is just all of the fun. 2 run double for Micker.
  20. Was going to say same. Damn I thought yoan had that. Warning track fly ball.
