  1. If only someone could give us more information to let us know whether we should investigate for more information.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Would you? I am not sure if I would be mad about that. They address the QB position and take a safety. I would be fine with it if they sincerely have Jimmy G tabbed as the next best thing. Far and away better than any QB they could draft. With Jimmy you are immediately paying market rate for a QB. You give up your #3 pick. If we gave up a 2 and a future something for him, maybe. Not giving up a #3 pick for Garappolo and essentially a 2nd rounder.
  3. I would be furious if they did that.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) I meant from a standpoint where they were never able to sign a bunch of the top talent in one signing period freely. This would have been the year for it with so many teams capped at only $300k signings. Yeah, I'm not giving them credit. I fully expected them to do this last year, after the cubs/dodgers/red sox had removed themselves. Hahn hinted they would focus on J2 at soxfest and prior. Then it came out a few weeks later we were basically tied to nobody. They didn't.
  5. TA just hit an oppo 2 run homer
  6. I don't necessarily think that's good news.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) The Sox got screwed with the CBA change. If it were still the same rules next signing period as it was the previous few years, they would be able to load up on a bunch of the top guys. But yeah, it changed so what can you do? Might as well sign the best prospect possible. And 19 at that. They did not get screwed. They knew full and well the next change would cut down on being able to blow past the cap. The white sox were helped by the new rules.
  8. He remembers it all so vividly now. I mean, he was even fighting for Ukraine and it caused great tension! Notice he has not recused himself from any investigation into flynn lying.
  9. Sounds like Sessions recused himself.
  10. Holland started this right?
  11. With all this talk, the one scenario that would truly terrify me is us not signing Robert and also having a 2017 intl class of no top 30 players again.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) Hawkins is a bad miss. Anderson is a good pick. The issue is that Reinsdorf was against spending money on amateur players and KW loved tools, athletes. Drafting tools athletes is fine but drafting ones that also don't cost a lot of money isn't a sound strategy. They need baseball players and Hostetler drafted many guys with more traditional baseball and on base skills. He is on the record saying that he wishes he would have taken more high school guys and he even said they are looking at high school players in this year's draft. It has to be both is what I'm saying. You always want guys that play premium positions because those guys can play other spots. Nick Hostetler comes from the Schuerholz school of scouting. I would expect a focus to be on power pitching and athletes. Dayton Moore subscribes to the same theory and Chris Getz worked under him for years. by a hair haha
  13. I still believe before a bill gets to committee they should be free to negotiate it outside public, but that they are so literally keeping it under wraps is hilarious.
  14. this continues to make me laugh: https://twitter.com/Atom_Murray/status/829757393441419264
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Remember, this is the 1st of many injuries that will happen over the course of 3-4 months before the deadline. A ton can change, and the Sox are sitting on one of the best SP's on the market. Patience may pay off. This post could be the biggest jinx I've ever seen.
  16. Given where Price is in his career and competitive window of the Red Sox, it would be super interesting if he were to try out the surgery that Seth Maniss just tried (though his UCL may just be better to replace anyway.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) The Sox can't shy away from this opportunity because he "might" be Jorge Soler 2.0 These guys with insane upside don't grow on trees, he's well worth the risk even if he amounts to nothing. Comparing him to Soler wasn't an insult.
  18. So there will be a 100% tax on any team before 6/15 right? Sox may have 2 million or so in the deal that would be not taxed at that rate but hard to know how much that will matter. If he signs 10 million, that's 20 million to the Padres and 18 million to the sox. Is that correct?
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) The loss of Price could possibly push the Yankees or Astros to move harder for Quintana though. That would be the best outcome. Good point.
  20. I think they'll roll with it. Just sucks for them. Sucks for everyone, really, would have been a fun rotation to watch.
  21. Man that just sucks to see.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) This guy at least athletic? Didn't really read the article. Yeah, they think he can play center. Soler is athletic.
  23. Sen. McCaskill may need to have a talk with her social media team.
  24. He sounds a lot more like Soler to me than Moncada.
  25. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 03:10 AM) I think a lot of people are overvaluing Seth Beer, yeah I've been on the bandwagon for a while (I prefer Gray to him) but let's stop labeling him the savior. Probably. He loses a lot of luster as a 1b. But dingers are fun.
