  1. yeah I think this sounds right.
  2. Getz sucks we now only have shirley as a minor hope. Sigh, it'll be KW jr.
  3. was clear that he was just one of those players that could crush d league but was physically limited in nba to be effective.
  4. I would have preferred moving man over too. Not because I think we could execute a sac fly, but because I think the highest chance we had of scoring a run was by far a passed ball, which is 80% of our offense. Failed bunt is worth it, still the highest probability play was toronto accidentally throwing a ball in the dirt or hitting the umpire in the head.
  5. I think when sox were in the 20s we got some pretty good info on who they could take based on representation. I find this years mocks less compelling as at 15 there is a mix of top ten players falling and being in that position of the round where they try to stop falls to us. I guess I don't buy Jacob Wilson at all, and Waldrep doesn't sound like a Shirley guy either. I guess I think I buy them potentially stopping a Dollander fall. I buy the Yohandy Morales interest just based off sox taking quite a few miami players in the last decade. The one guy I thought based off of scouting reports I'd hear sox interest on was Nimmala but I haven't really seen it come up in BA/Law (haven't looked at mlb pipeline or mcdaniel). I guess just doing draft write up tea leaves plus what we know of shirley/sox I'd go Yohandy at 20%, Dollander/Bradfield at 15%, Houck/Miller/Troy at 12% split the rest up among surprise fallers and people not mentioned, but I guess I'm not including Chase Davis. I don't know, but I guess that makes this a fun draft
  6. Couldn't help but look at this roster last night and just see zero difference between it and 2019. Some good players that are exciting surrounded by AAAA or worse, and veterans on their last stop before (non voluntary) retirement. That's what happens when you fill up a $180 mill payroll with a bunch of long term bullpen contracts.
  7. I don’t know how you guys watch this team every game
  8. I was invited to a suite and the food starts at 7 so you’ll know when I arrive for Schoeltensfest
  9. i'm heading in later if i get one i'll message you and can mail it
  10. just last year the mariners traded for Matthew Boyd who had yet to pitch at that point of the season. He made their playoff roster despite not being a reliever. The giants last year signed trevor rosenthal on July 21st for $4.5 million then traded him 10 days later to the brewers for tristan peters. He never pitched that year and hadn't pitched since 2020.

actually nice little fun update one month in on that big group from the International Period: En Fuego (also stiven above) - Javier Mogollon / 17 / Venezuela .282 / .354 /.394 1 HR, 3 2b, 20% K-rate, 10% BB rate BA: Venezuelan shortstop Javier Mogollon signed with the White Sox for $75,000. Mogollon, 17, is 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, and while he isn’t that big, his offensive game makes him an exciting sleeper to watch. His righthanded swing is short, quick, clean and balanced, allowing him to barrel balls at a high clip against live pitching. Despite his stature, Mogollon isn’t a slap hitter either, with the ability to generate startling power for his size, even clearing the batter’s eye at the White Sox academy in the Dominican Republic. He’s also at least a plus runner. - Abraham Nunez / 17 / DR .348 / .464 / .591 3 HR, 5 2b, 10% K-rate, 20% BB rate ? BA: Nuñez Jr., is 17 and signed with the White Sox for $700,000. He’s 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, an athletic outfielder with good bat speed who performed well during amateur tournaments in the Dominican Republic. Scouts highest on Nuñez liked his bat control from the right side and strike-zone judgment, with the strength projection and bat speed to project his gap power to grow. He’s a solid-average runner who moves well enough for now to develop in center field, though as he fills out he might shift to a corner. Normal D'Angelo Tejada / 17 / DR .243 / .308 / .300 4 2B, 6% BB rate, 25% K rate Chilly Juan Uribe Jr
  12. maybe that's why we've had to pay over slot for college players in round two.

Stiven Flores another nice day in DSL (3-6, SB, R) From BA: Stiven Flores, C, Venezuela: Flores, 17, signed for $250,000. He’s 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and a potential power-hitting catcher from the right side. His offensive game stands out the most right now, with a chance to hit 20-plus home runs and drive the ball well to all fields. He has solid catch-and-throw skills for his age, too, with an average arm. Still no homers, but a 1:1 K:BB ratio.

good question. Maybe, Bryce Bush was still listed as active similarly last year though it was rumored he'd retired (and he had). But hard to know since we get no info on injuries and retirements are usually random tweets from like hometown newspapers.
  15. Of course they will. Sox literally traded a guy who was on injured list at the time and didn't even play for rest of season to a contender looking for a reliever.
  16. he was one of my favorite players in baseball just as a fan follow. But in 10 years I probably won't even remember he was on our team nor will the rest of the league. Add him to the list of forgettable stops on this unbearably boring team.
  17. was he officially signed?
  18. it works pretty well if you sing the first part as the whiney voice in taking back sunday and the second part as the screamo voice in taking back sunday.
  19. ANd I just got the Joe Kelly to the IL push notification...classique.
  20. Of course there is a return for Hendriks. It just depends what people consider a return.
  21. He wasn't really a prodigious power guy though. I don't know this all gives me flashbacks to the arguments that we couldn't develop high schoolers or athletes when really we were barely drafting them and the few we did just happened not to pan out as is common with draft picks.
  22. I do have moments of wanting to believe. It requires believing this shooting coach turning around every single athletic single dimensional wing into a top 3 pt shooter with ferocious defense. But that lasts a few seconds.
  23. And in both cases its clear when you have that as your top goal you aren't going to find the talent to even get you there.
  24. There is a high probability all of the first rounders fail. And we certainly have not been drafting for any sort of power profiles, which is not the same as players that should have power profiles based off of body but like to slap it to 2nd base.
  25. I actually think this handling of colas is pretty decent. Gave him a shot, was horrible, sent him down, bring him up with success. Not bad. You see the braves making early call ups on guys but also always letting them know they are in competition and need to improve. Vaughn Grissom was damn good last year. They took Arcia to start season over him. They had a good catcher, they traded for a much better one. It does a lot. You can't ever stop in baseball like the white sox do constantly under Hahn.
