Why did the downfall happen and could it have been avoided?
Fun thing about the Call trade, you have to admit, is it was partly due to Hostetlers piss poor management of the farm, cramming college draft after college draft together and ending up with a legitimately difficult back log as players adjusted to AA. Call was traded out of that "surplus" in a silly trade to gain favor with Machado. As Call hits the big leagues and provides depth, we are basically out of outfielders as the remainder of prospects had washed out, been picked out due to 40 man issues, or traded. Creating a winning baseball organization is absolutely complex and difficult and that's why you should move on from people who cannot handle complexity, like Rick Hahn. Let him just go be a professional rich persons friend in winnetka and keep him away from the team.

Debt Limit Default?
nobody knows, the law states the executive branch cannot pay borrow beyond a certain limit but also congress has passed other laws mandating the executive spend via bills that have been passed. It is the silliest dance in the world.

That's another k0pech white sox winner
It turns out our SB against has impressed me and yet we are still 28 out of 30, but that just goes to show how low my expectation was lol

pitch com. Like call your own damn sequences then if the pitcher felt there was a difference. I've personally been impressed that the running game against the sox has not been nearly as bad as I expected. But why run when you'll likely get walked and move em over anyway amirite

also those splits aren't that damning.

If the pitchers don't like Grandal's game calling I have zero sympathy in 2023 where a certain rule change happened.

Nice to see Sean Burke back (perhaps he was already) after that shoulder shut down

The o in kopech I made a zero because just capitalizing the K wouldn't have been that clever.

Why did the downfall happen and could it have been avoided?
Unfortunately, none of those were the fatal mistakes. The single fatal mistake of the sox org can be encapsulated by the idea that they aim to be good enough not good as possible. Good enough gets you faster attrition as other teams pass you by. It makes injuries more impactful. It makes windows shorter.

Fire Rick Hahn
and this year their payroll is just comp balance tax of $88 million whereas in 2020 hahn had payroll up to $178 million (people forget we had a weirdly high lux tax number with the extensions) and $128mill. They have a competitive team just with their farm, margin scouting and player dev. Soon they'll get to add.

5/18 Games
I don’t know why but I’m my head Wilfred Veras is a hulk but he’s only 6’2 180. What you like to see is he’s cut his K rate as he moved up to A+, but the walk rate hasn’t moved. The Sox have to figure out how to work on this.

Kopech turns to rubble. (Fangraphs article)
Yeah... By results and how unprepared they are I'd say fire the pitching coach. Sox treat FO/management personnel as stronger commitments than marriage. Katz was good for his first few years wrangling the stuffy but uncommandy arms Hahn had collected. It's not working now. Find someone else. But, also don't fire him and just let them continue to be dumb together, what does it matter.

This was really entertaining.

Official NBA 22-23
There is only one thing I want the bulls to try to add and it's 3 pt shooting. Could care less about rim protection until they address that

5/16 Games
Successful season for Michael Turner so far. Maybe others have been following. He was our 9th round senior signing for 35 k out of Arkansas. Old for level at 24, but bats left and walks a bunch. Also Ks a bunch. But yeah go Winston-Salem. Crushing that damn league.
