  1. One thing I've said before is it is curious that on a team so starved for power and so bad at defense already, that they couldn't find room for Burger last year.
  2. My personal opinion is there is no reason to not go all in on this roster. There is no "sustained success" in the minors coming up. There is zero help in Rick Hahn doing a rebuild on the fly, which he has failed at, or a full rebuild, which he has failed at. He has also failed at putting a roster over the top. But anyway. I love colson montgomery. I love Mena. I will not get enjoyment watching a team with a great colson montgomery and Mena surrounded by like some bullshit slappy first baseman playing outfield. Time for hahn to lose some trades. Send out Montgomery to the tigers for Baez and salary relief. Shoot Mena out of a cannon to the pirates for like mitch keller. You are gonna say like "these are bad trades!" of course they are. They will be disasters. Let's burn the ships man.
  3. We are back. We are sooooo fucking back
  4. It’s funny how after the draft I can tell you how many siblings each draftee has, and then when they return the next spring I’m like “who the s%*# are this guy”
  5. Brewers, giants, mariners. amazing what you can accomplish when you try to be good at something and what you can’t when you don’t,
  6. You are saying you think we should imagine him as a genius that can accomplish anything with moxy so no.
  7. It's like when you try and win the record for most positions played in a game. You only need to suffer as catcher for .5 an inning and hopefully pull off a few hidden ball tricks.
  8. I've been thinking a lot about how this season is in fact Reinsdorf's masterpiece. We know that the worst years of Reinsdorf's life was having Larry Himes as GM, trying to tell Reinsdorf things that weren't "you are wise business man and so loyal". Since then Jerry has been able to hire industry people that were sufficiently flattering and aligned to his project of "sport executive who admires Jerry". But there is always risk there. They may have come up in a system that prioritized winning, and not executive admiration. He couldn't be sure where they'd pivot when the times got tough. Hahn was his long-term play. Get a boy from a well connected family, who grew up getting told by the elite of chicago that he is smart and nice. That is his home. Spoiled enough he could get multiple degrees in his twenties to continue to boost his self esteem, and then have one of his family friends get him a meeting with Jerry. It was hahn's decision to go be a scout? Hardly. I don't believe it. I think Reinsdorf realized this was his chance to put a true blue Jerry believer in from the ground up. Monitor his progress, create an infallible resume. Multiple degrees from top universities and came up as a scout? Of course that is Gm material. It was the perfect plan really, hahn's clockwork promotions were a sign of his talent, and the promotions were controlled by ole Jerry. At some point, or maybe always, Jerry's main goal shifted to "still own the white sox but in a way that is guaranteed to have every face-to-face employee express love to me." Hahn is his masterpiece. This season may be a disaster on the field, but in that air conditioned office, likely with no windows or media allowed, it is still a loving atmosphere. We need to imagine Reinsdorf as happy.
  9. It's something that the organization has to be clear they prioritize from training/pd to player acquisition. When they then go and sign Elvis Andrus it's clear it would just be half hearted.
  10. My take on Katz is while at San Fran he learned a lot from an org that provides a whole bunch of support and focus for their pitching philosophy. Katz can bring some of the philosophy, but the Sox approach is to hire someone, say they are in charge and that’s it. Basically I’m saying the farther away he’s from San Fran the worse he’s going to get. Like muscle atrophy.
  11. It sure I’ve seen this many nice catches in the org in the same day.
  12. Yeah I’d just hope he improves throughout year
  13. Kanny bizarrely sat camiletti but Sprinky with 2 doubles and a walk. Gettin hot hot hot!!!
  14. Not really surprised. He was a curious target for a team that had plenty o singles slapping, contact already. They needed power so so so badly.
  15. He was awesome in July that year at least.
  16. That said embarrassing pitching in this org. Hahn cannot keep his job.
  17. Mario camiletti. Basically Kevin youkilis
  18. No I’m sorry it’s Mario
  19. Uhhh it has our most promising hitter
  20. I think they should still get credit for major league production. He could have easily flamed out. But yeah I think if I were an Owner that gave a s%*#, I'd look at the Braves and say "you have had similar payroll, you have similar rules/advantages (draft picks, lottery pools), why haven't you had similar results?". Hell they lost their lat am operation for years and still were able to keep a top 15 farm until this year when they emptied out for Sean Murphy. There are real things that make it harder to make the sox competitive. But...it is what it is. Get over it. Similar orgs are kicking your ass. If Hahn had any shame he'd retire. Also he should apologize to me and give me his degrees.
  21. I sorta feel like it’s unfair to not give credit for cease, kopech who were both raw in A. Which I mainly mention because I feel like the problem is just not getting enough talent into the org. I think paddy is a good evaluator but literally doesn’t bring in big enough classes. I think Shirley is interesting but made a big mistake with his 2020 / Draft strategies that went too targeted with bonuses at a time when our minors essentially were barren. You had scouting director and intl director both go after small classes with higher certainty quality guys at the same time. Ok if one does it, but both at same time made this an inch by inch rebuild. You’d assume Hahn would be like creating an overarching vision for these guys to understand how to execute, but it seems like they are managed as “you are talented and safe; just go find some guys you like!!!” This org desperately needs to be treated as a bottom market for it to be competitive, because Hahn is way too lazy to exploit all talent avenues to their fullest.
  22. When I watch other games its like "damn this is so easy to score a run this is stupid" then I watch the white sox try to score runs with a man starting at second and fail and I'm like "wow this must be like psyching out our hitters this is unfair they should start with bases loaded"
