  1. Tyler Cowen with interesting thoughts on what to expect. https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/201...ics-chapter-one
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) People who spend their days arguing with strangers on social media need to get a better hobby. Take that frustration out in the gym or on your toilets or even taking a walk with your kids. Literally anything else other than that. Baseball themed message boards however are the cream of the crop Exactly. Historians will set baseball message boards in their rightful place.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) Sure. But it doesn't mean that a large portion of the country isn't doing exactly that, and then using that information in the voters booth. Yes. It's definitely a reality.
  4. Legit didn't even know that timeline still existed. I don't really click on or use facebook, have always liked twitter more since the timeline feature, but am always surprised when suddenly someone's link reappears and that you realize the same 4-5 people make up your timeline.
  5. I'm calling it being some Minor League fodder for cash first.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) Yeah, I know I have had discussions about people only seeing what they want to see, and becoming dumber for it. It's kinda different though, right? There's an element of them not knowing they are only seeing what they want to see. I don't think people are so consciously doing it on those mediums.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 06:33 AM) No one will f***ing care at all. Hell I half want Hillary Clinton in prison for letting a white supremacist beat her in the election. ha, I've thought about that.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) And I respect that and sympathize with you. I shouldn't have commented. I know it's a dramatic comment I made. And I know why you said what you did. Not trying to diminish others struggles:
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I sympathize with those that are upset, because I am too..that being said, the white guy saying this was the worst day of his life is not exactly the best look right now - it's certainly going to raise some eyebrows, be honest. You could consider that it's because I've had to see so many people I love and respect in pain, and look my students in eye asking if people will hurt them.
  10. Great rabbit. Move along.
  11. Politics is about people.
  12. I've been struggling with that soxbadger. I focused on cheap housing to make it cheaper to move there, but I don't see how it is resovled without government assistance at least for this generation. The economy is providing more and more jobs to services. Services are more productive in dense areas. What happens to resolve that tension? Go back and time and make less jobs for all?
  13. We've lost our ability to manufacture with human labor cheaply. We manufacture cheaply just fine.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) Any jobs are going to be the result of trickle down business from reduced taxes and bringing back manufacturing. Both of which are most likely a fairy tale. Weaker dollar as well.
  15. Last night was maybe the worst night of my life. It has severely changed my outlook. I became a democrat in height of the technowonks. I knew something was amiss but kept rationalizing in macro data. The data wasn't bulls***, but it was bad government. It added help with no responsiveness. It was not efficient. It was easy to dispute. Feel lost.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:36 PM) I doubt it. I think she is his black "beard". He's not racist. He talks to Omarrossa. There was an NPR report from North Carolina where Omorossa was going around meeting with black leaders saying trump would set up a whole new program to get former felons jobs (the voter was a former felon and was voting for trump). Interesting to see if some of this stuff is real.
  17. Plus dems would cave anyway.
  18. Can't really gather what the f*** is up and down now. Clear dems took shortcuts on policies that were "helping" in macro but not nearly broadly enough. But I also worry that Our news consumption means we'll never think we are doing well. I live in a great neighborhood with great schools. 50 years ago I bet I'd say the country was doing well, after all, look around me. But now I'd say country is fubar. All of the worst things nationally are digested as locally. All flat.
  19. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) America hates me. Or maybe it's Americans. I don't know. I mean, I knew that already, but now it's quantifiable. This kills me to read. Been posting with you for over a decade, your post this morning killed me.
  20. Bush 04 was a blow I'd never felt before but I'd gladly feel that again over this.
  21. Sorry everyone. I'm sad and angry and I'm not sure I'll ever get over this.
  22. It's over and I'm just watching this zombie s*** on tv
  23. I understand what you are saying soxbadger but I just don't think it would matter.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) You can register same day. Back when I went to school there waited over an hour to vote. Dane County is at less than 70%. So there is a definite chance. But this is on Hillary, she took a lot of people for granted. I don't think so. She had a pretty extensive field operation. Rural whites just existed more outside likely voters than hispanics.
  25. Yes feingolds blowout was the deathnell for me.
