  1. The Head of the Judiciary Chair of the Republican party, ladies and gentleman: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/gras...yor-wise-latina
  2. Would much rather play hayes/coats than waste a spot on a 35-year old first baseman when we are in 4th place in June.
  3. The sox strategy of being a lower-half payroll team that will stay competitive through free agency signings doesn't seem like a strategy anyone would advise. But here we are.
  4. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) He has been soaring up draft boards since he was transitioned into the bullpen mid-season. Has shown very encouraging (but raw) secondary stuff along with a big fastball and good slider. He was mocked at #11 by Keith Law and Jim Callis and Sox have scouted him heavily. I would venture to guess that he is the back-up plan if Ray doesn't fall and/or Rutherford or another prep wants way overslot. He was transitioned INTO the bullpen or OUT OF the bullpen? Currently he's a college reliever?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) The daughter of the first African American president will get to cast her first vote for the first female presidential candidate. (Stolen from a tweet). I think this party can be fairly content with that. Sure, unless you realize that their being inclusive enraged Republicans into being intolerant and they had to nominate Trumjp. So...unclean hands.
  6. While I think it's crazy to blame this on Sale, as I did in the winter, I'm fairly confidently leaning on the side of us being competitive faster by trading some core pieces. This whole "fielding a team with minimal depth and always erring on the side of seeing if one more marginal upgrade puts us over the top" thing doesn't seem to be working out.
  7. Didn't know much about Dunn. That's a live arm. Is he expected in the top ten range or someone that could possibly drop?
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/6/7/11876...7858.1463293193 This also happens to be the rare offseason when all of the big free agent deals are working out pretty darned well, other than Heyward and Upton. That's usually not the case. Fwiw, I would also include Alex Gordon on the list, although the argument for keeping him isn't insignificant from a pr/hometown hero perspective. Those are some pretty big "Other Than"s. Cespedes sure would have looked nice in our lineup.
  9. Honestly, I'd rather they err on the harsh punishment. I don't want tennis swirling in these doping and match fixing scandals. Endurance is a big part of tennis, if you are illegally enhancing that, it's not fair.
  10. 2 year ban for sharapova. I'd be surprised if she even comes back if that holds.
  11. As a person, I feel for Robin. He jumped in, tried. Good for him. But, aside from being contrarian, I see no reason to pick this hill to die on. If he was not responsible for their failure, I doubt you can say he was responsible for success. If a baseball manager does not matter much, it should not matter much that you fire him. In ordinary circumstances, that seems unfair. But there are only 30 of these jobs in the world, you are paid well, it's a great job. If he is not specifically making it better, why should they stick with him? Will firing Robin actually surge us to contention. Probably not. Will it send us in a death spiral worse than the one he is healming? Probably not. Has he done enough to keep one of the 30 best jobs in the world? Probably not. So fire him, move on. SHould have been done last year after Hahn told him to teach Micah to be better defending.
  12. What a terrible idea. I'm sure we'll deal for him soon.

I probably could have accelerated this a bit. These chapters aren't very long.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) What? They aren't actively at war with other houses, these guys have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. They just don't disappear like that. I'm not saying their castles and all of them die, but in kings landing now, you have the players that if removed would essentially move two houses off the storyline.
  15. Keith Law just tweeted in response to someone that noted Callis*(?) just put out 60 tools across the board for Ray, that while Ray is his favorite in the class he's more likely to be a LFer.
  16. QUOTE (Nixon @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) The show doesn't have time for any of Marge's long cons. She's going to have that blow up in her face along with the caches of wildfire. I hope so, show sure has slowed down. Tyrell and lannister house should have been destroyed last week. I feel like any minute we'll here that season 9 has been approved.
  17. What stage of grief are we on? Are we only on denial still?
  18. Oof, gross. That was a hell of a lot more Kings Landing than I expected. I'm guessing Marjorie is going to "outpure" the high priest, and, armed with legitimacy of faith and crown can reclaim it. Maybe.
  19. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) I'm interested in seeing him in a more neutral environment, where every insult isn't met with an applause break. That's true.
  20. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 06:47 AM) Quick, how many titles has Nole won since this board labelled him a choker who fails at the big moments and isn't dominant enough last year? EDIT: Also, Murray is perfectly likeable off the court. He's thoughtful and I like his politics. On the court is a different story. Honestly it kind of annoyed me how as soon as Murray won the US Open originally he was suddenly a part of the "Big 4" label. Obviously he won wimbledon shortly after, but nobody named Wawrinka part of the big 5 when he won the australian open and french.

  22. Juries aren't judges. Judges are legally trained and presumably able to look at bodies of evidence and apply prior standing and logic to create a judgment. They have their ideologies but those would apply to the CASE not the defendant. The consitution says "jury of our peers". Clearly they believed prejudice existed.
  23. The Hound better be a big role coming up. Because to introduce a character in the last 3 seasons to kill them off in the same episode seems very Lost spider episode to me.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) I have no doubt she'll murder him in debates. She has incredibly thick skin, he's got incredibly thin skin. He won't have Jeb! to push over either. He's locked in the room with her, not the other way around. I don't think it's possible to destroy Trump in a debate, similarly to Palin. When the standards are so low, any moment of coherence from Trump and everyone thinks "oh my god, he's winning!". He has an incredibly effective "politicians are corrupt and shills" line which he can deflect and get back to easily.
