QUOTE (Dunt @ May 10, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) It's not going to take a top 50 prospect to get 2 months of Reddick. I'd do something along the lines of Adams+, but after that no thanks. With no chance of a qualifying offer, he will definitely hit free agency primed for a big pay day. Why do I feel like Beane will get the most out of Danish?

QUOTE (Special K @ May 10, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Not sure if Lawrie will maintain his OBP, but it's far better than whatever Rollins is doing. I am also fine with Melky in 2 hole, but it seems like Lawrie is better suited. Not Rollins tho. Maybe Avi if he maintains. Right, Lawrie would not be an ideal #2 hitter, but he becomes one when your #2 hitter has a .610 OPS. He may not have great contact but he has better power.

Do you guys remember the theme that Manuel gave too quick of a hook to our young pitchers like garland and didn't let them learn how to pitch. Then Ozzie let them in and they learned. Looking back that was pretty bizarre. Was nice that all 4 of those pitchers had rubber arms.

Do you guys mean successful business owners?

5/10 - White Sox @ Rangers Game Thread

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Carroll should be able to go more than one inning. Oh definitely, but if its a close game/we are winning I don't know we want him to. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) I remember that the team was so fundamentally sound that Ozzie could really do no wrong. Ha, yeah that plus insane bullpen really make you a great manager.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) This is kind of the feeling I had. I didn't have a negative feeling, but I remember being like "the Sox are just gonna be their usual above-average, but not great selves." I was shocked by how hot they started the season and once the summer started and they showed no signs of slowing down I was never excited about any baseball season like that before. The lineup didn't even really look that imposing on paper (even though they ended up hitting lots of homers). Jermaine Dye started off really slow that year, and Frank Thomas got injured early, but that didn't seem to stop them. I don't want to make too many parallels between this team and that team though. The whole 45 first half stolen bases for scotty pods was pretty crazy. Probably around this time when a similar game happened where we were trailing or came back to tie. Pods got on base. Stole second. Bunt to third. Driven home. Sox win. It was just automatic with him on the base paths. I had way higher confidence on that team. But, I do feel really good late when Eaton comes up and knowing what comes behind him.

Too obvious of trolling greg, try again.

You are right, we should always go by the last 2 games results to judge all actions.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) All the more reason I want to see a nice gem out of Rodon tonight. Helps to have a Lefty against this middle of the order. -

Who are the bullpen pieces we can rely on tonight: Duke (did he only face 1 batter?) Albers (because he's a horse/cat and non stressful inning Carroll - almost guaranteed Probably resting Robertson - 1 1/3 innings Jones - 1 inning Putnam (he pitched like 22 pitches) Jennings - 2 innings So, we at least need 6 innings. -
Right. I would like to move Lawrie to 2nd batting order, but, I don't want to mess with where he is as long as he's hitting. If Avi is legit, maybe move him up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Sox were picked something like 3rd or 4th going into the season. Fans were really divided on the Pods/Carlos Lee trade. Not a whole lot of optimism pre-season. Bandwagon got rolling early with a hot start. Pretty similar to this year honestly. I remember differently. I remember after the late AJ and Iguchi signings, people really feeling positive about how complete the team was. I don't think anyone thought world series, but I felt good about playoffs, as good as I had during 01-04.

Why on earth would anyone want Jose Reyes? Horrible person. Horrible shortstop. I'll take our .630 OPS over that P.O.S. anyday.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) One thing I will say is that Trump is bringing a ridiculous number of crappy and pissed off white people. For the first time since I have been alive, there were more Republican ballots taken in my county primary than Democratic, in a county that is 3:2 Democratic. I don't want to see Trump win, but I also won't pretend that there isn't something going on there. Despite that, it's unclear he will match Romney's "white people" share if his women numbers are so horrible. For Trump to win, he needs to win all of Romney's voters plus X amount of Obama's voters. With the nation becoming less white, do you think he has the ability to do that?
-
MJ had to deal with MJ fatigue from voters. Curry's season was amazing and that OT last night seals it. That it's the first unanimous MVP vote ever means very little to me. There are always a lot of stupid writers that don't take their job seriously.
-
she's consistently a 5-6 point lead. That type of lead is not synonymous to losing a bunch of states but winning nat pop vote. That poll is interesting for hyperventilating but meaningless.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) I thought it was a bit too obvious. Eh, I liked it. The joke from Richard was so out of nowhere I was barely paying attention I was laughing so hard. Silicon valley is so much better than it deserves to be for a 30 minute sitcom.
-
He gets ground balls. Once he stops walking people he has a better defense behind him. He's our 6th pen piece. You can do much worse, and Carroll would qualify.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Basically what the Twins did (had a 20-7 stretch and held on for most of the season until the end) and the Astros ended up doing last year... Hopefully we're better than both those teams record-wise (won't touch the comparison with HOU until we have a better idea at the 54-60 game mark Hawk always goes by in terms of assessing teams and their playoff futures). The ray of light there is that the twins were doing that despite a really poor run differential compared to their record. Whereas the white sox are 5th at +38.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) The White Sox are playing at something like a 110-win pace (I haven't actually bothered to do the math, I just eyeballed it from the record). Are they going to actually win 110 games, or even 100 games... probably not, but at this time last year and the year before, we were pretty much finished already. This was literally unthinkable. Right, my thoughts on this are get as many wins as possible. I align with the the posters that say things like "if we go .500 the rest of the way we will be 86 wins" or whatever we are. I also kind of look at baseball records as a series of floors, each 10 games apart. For the last 7 years, seems like the struggle was to establish the .500 floor. We would hit it, but not by more than a game and didn't allow a cushion to regress. Now we are establishing our new floor of 10 games over. If we continue climbing. If we hit the ASB with a new floor of 20 games over .500, I'll buy tickets to MD and we can high five.

So will Carroll be up until Petricka is back?

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) That's not really ironic, lol. That's just a similar occurrence from a game that happened a long time ago and Ventura happens to be the manager. The irony is it happened in Texas, where the Alamo is, and we thought Texas was lost, but then the "grand slam" of the us army then won a war.

That was the best. I also went from being relieved thinking sac fly to disbelief. Soooo happy!!
