2015-2016 NFL Thread
So, Maty Mauk was suspended so I get to see Drew Lock. I don't think I can plan on him being very good, but Mauk was terrible. I do feel bad for Mauk, whose dad just had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. That and a fanbase being brutal to him...tough stuff. But Lock is clearly better at passing.

Thompson catch last night
Awesome catch. Trayce was such a bright spot this year. Hope he's not a bright spot like Josh Fields 22 hrs were a bright spot in 07.

first day of iphone 6s on ios9. Got into work with 94% battery. Typically was around 63-70% at this point. Left work around 25%, so we'll see where that ends.

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition
11th pick is just a worse case scenario for me.

I think Jones will just be too raw for a first round pick. maybe the first qb off board in 2nd/3rd.

I mean, dude is so ridiculous. We all know he's in a civil suit that will likely settle and first thing he does is come into camp talking about money and then promptly gets injured. It's like a kevin hart movie.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Vereen waived. That's 8 Emery guys gone from the lineup. It's not hard to figure out why we're so bad. Holy shmoly.

Financial News
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Miller and Bud are talking about a $100 billion merger. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/29/...N0RT23620150929 This would essentially make 1 macro right?

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Bill James said something to the effect that a given statistic isn't worthwhile if it doesn't surprise you sometimes. That doesn't mean every stat that is counterintuitive is automatically good, but the whole point of PFF is to give you information that isn't in the box score. You can't refute it with the box score. Their system could also be bad or wrong under certain circumstances or it's totally right and we aren't appreciating that Rodgers was carried by his teammates. I don't know. People aren't refuting it with the box score, they are refuting it by watching the game and seeing that Aaron Rodgers was clearly the best player on the field last night. He is not only executing a play as it happens, he is setting up the play before it happens for success. PFF has proven worthless the longer it has been in effect, which is great because it's proven sample size is an important piece.

My/Your Off Season Plan
The upgrade offensively at catcher from flowers to average is just not as exciting to me as other positions.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) To take it to Verizon, you have to pay the rest of the lease though, right? Is their also a contract breakage or do you just have to pay off the lease (and thus just own the phone)? No, my lease is through Apple, and verizon is also CDMA. I am no longer on contract with sprint so can leave at any time.

NCAA basketball 2015-16 thread
I'm not saying SMU was innocent, I'm just saying it's funny how SMU has twice now been the one school the NCAA could throw the hammer down on.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) If you watch that game last night and grade Rodgers out as negative, you need to rethink how you grade players. They gave the same grade to Teddy Bridgewater who had 121 yards passing, 0 TD and 1 INT. Rodgers had 5 TD, 333 passing yards and 0 turnovers. So to them, that is pretty much the same performance. Also, the original grade they had on Rodgers was -2.2, they changed it to -0.8. So originally they had him and Jimmy Clausen having equally bad games. If you replaced Claussen with Rodgers, you are telling me the bears would have had more than 63 yards passing and 18 punts? You are being a homer.

I mean, I don't know how you can get that angry at rose. I understand getting angry, but it's hard not to just laugh at the absurdity of it. He's just so bad at the media. I think the dude just has 1-2 thoughts he can hold in his head at a time and the good news is it means he can work hard if that's what he's set to.

Getting new iphone today, leasing through apple and staying on sprint. Doing this for my wife, but like the fact that I can take us to verizon at any time if I find that more problems were with htc one one sprint vs. sprint itself.

White Sox official website has a possible Quintana trade chip post
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) Except guys that get paid a lot more then us have access to these sorts of metrics, and a lot more. Even if fans don't know this stuff, a lot of baseball execs do. Honestly I have zero belief that if the execs were to rate the top 20 pitchers in baseball that Quintana would make the list. Look at how he doesn't make the top 50 value pieces in baseball over and over. There is a global conspiracy to believe this great pitcher is great.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 08:19 AM) Pro Football Focus gave Aaron Rodgers a grade of -0.8 for his play last night. I like PFF, but I don't know how you come up with that. PFF seems to mainly function to confirm your biases when it shows it and ignoring everything else. PFF routinely rates Matt Forte as like, the worst Bears offensive player.

I thought pitch perfect 2 was fine. It's first 30 minutes weren't good but I thought it had a strong last hour.

I'm worried about trading quintana. I feel like the entire league and media and world has been colluding to convince everyone this clearly top level pitcher is actually a back of the rotation starter.

We probably will trade Q because he's the only one I don't think we should trade anymore.
