2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) But this is a league of questionable people, you cannot avoid them. You want them to be good people, but sometimes they are not. I disagree on this, I don't mind giving second chances to people, but domestic abuse charges and sexual assault charges are a not the same as possession or dui charges. There are so, so many players that do not have anything like that, and they could have survived a year without mcdonald easily.

Conference Call with Rick Hahn, Buddy Bell
This was an excellent read. Loved the info on EJ and why Hawkins has stayed up.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) Its funny how Bernstein has gone from not really liking but understanding the McDonald move at the beginning of his show yesterday, and now has gone full b**** on twitter about it now. His assertion that Pace went about this in a psychotic way...actually, i'm struggling to even see in his debased mind what pace did wrong in the process of this signing. I don't like this signing, i hate the mindset of football organizations that don't care how the employees of their billion dollar product may bulldoze people and use their influence to get out of it, but getting internal buy-in for a move you know is not a run-of-the-mill signing, and getting everyone to stand behind it is a sign of a well-run organization, not a bad one. The idea that this could be a bad sign about pace, and not be referencing judgement in signing McDonald is ridiculous.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) At this point in the season I cant help but be happy with the development and maturation of everyone other than Rose. We really had no idea that we had a max contract all-star in Butler or a bonafide all-star in Mirotic. If we thought it was a possibility we wouldnt have said it was a strong one. This basically alters the way we will think of this team for years to come. If these two didnt play out of their minds this year imagine how down we would be on this team. We would want the whole thing blown up no matter what happens in the playoffs. well not everyone. Hinrich went from funny to hate, to being legitimately god awful. Taj really stepped back and has been injured, and Noah took way longer to get good this year than normal.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) This is actually a pretty good draft for 5T type guys. Leonard Williams - USC Arik Armstead - Oregon Henry Anderson - Stanford Corey Crawford - Clemson Xavier Cooper - Washington St. Also signing these guys for 1 year deals. You are in the same boat next year. I mean, no way leonard williams drops to bears, and you have no idea when the next ones will go in relation to bears. Jenkins is a signing I like. No real financial ramifications, not good, but young, and if he pans out you found a player. Tim Jennings was basically that. I don't have much respect for the defensive coaching the skins have used last decade.

I think "off the field issues" is my least favorite euphemism in sports. People throw all kinds of minor stuff (late for practice) with rape and include it in one big bag.

hate the mcdonald signing. I actively hope he gets injured, not even great consolation knowing he'll get paid.

White Sox aim to follow up on success of 2014 draft
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) Hold on, I thought it was something about his back and not his arm? I have no idea, I was just responding to the link where suddenly his velocity fell off a cliff. I have not seen follow-up reports.

White Sox aim to follow up on success of 2014 draft
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 09:52 AM) But being pulled from a game is never a good sign. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/brady...es-start-early/ http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/back-...s-kolby-allard/ Allard out for 6-8 weeks, back. Certainly sounds like a torn ucl. Rough, was certainly hoping this didn't happen because I still think it's ridiculous how the Astros treated the whole situation.

For as excited as I was for this year, and as nice as it is to have a project to watch like Mirotic, I really haven't enjoyed this season except December. Way too up and down. I enjoyed the Augustin bulls way more even though this has way more potential when everyone gets back. Obviously, if they have a real run in the playoffs all of this is erased

"Who is Jose Abreu" Article from Chicago Magazine
I was waiting for the online version to go up. Pretty heartwrenching stuff, it is pretty crazy when you realize that he probably hadn't seen snow until age 27. I don't remember if World Baseball classic traveled anywhere where he would have seen it.

Financial News
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Main convenience lost is nationwide use, but at least for mine they have a partnership with PNC so they have ATM access throughout the region. I generally hate the nationwide bank I use to enable that so it feels like "small inconvenience" in exchange for generally better rates and frankly more effective security. When you say better security is it because they are less attractive targets?

Anyone use a credit union? Do you feel like there's a convenience factor lost? Feel the same as a bank with some perks?

MLB's "demise" is greatly premature to declare
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) Live action content is a lot cheaper to produce than House of Cards, for example. But, as pointed out, theres a point where the numbers are so out of whack that subscribers resist and you end up with situations like the Dodgers where the majority of fans cant watch their team play. Unless they declare bankruptcy, like in Houston, youre going to end up alienating 50% of your fanbase. Remember the SportsVision diasaster, while the Cubs were using WGN and Braves TBS/TNT/sports south to build up their brands? Just put it this way....if the White Sox werent avail on tv at all but were getting $225 million per year for tv rights, and consistently were in the playoffs and highly profitable, would u still be happy? Or would u migrate to mlb.tv...gameday audio, etc.? Mlb extra innings? Those are blacked out.

The OU Frat Boys
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) Well, sticking to the topic of racist lynching, they drew big crowds less than a century ago. Yes. But they do not now. Which is kind of my point. Whatever level of immorality the placement of violent fictional entertainment means to today's society, it's certainly superior to days of mob justice killing hundreds and intimidating a whole section of the populace. A chant referencing those times positively is despicable and clearly outside the norms of this country as seen by the reaction. So I have a hard time believing violent entertainment has debased the countries morality when they would view references to actual violence as outrageous.
