QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 11, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Great stuff NSS, as always. I hope that you are right, and that Gordo can potentially be left off the 25, depending on his level of suckage and the performance of those competing. BTW, is Saladino already reassigned? He's the guy I want to see replacing Gordo, sooner or later. Unlike Gordo and Sanchez, seems to kill LHP, making him more platoon suitable to the other personnel. And probably has the most pop of the bunch. Found some nice info on Danish's outing http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/pfx.ph...hamlb_kcamlb_1/ Apparently reached 92.5, not too bad. Found it through this article article on SSS, http://www.southsidesox.com/2015/3/11/8188...for-second-base talking about TD now throwing more of a slider ( "Coop calls it a cutter"), vs. the "slurve" type of pitch he had been throwing. Cannot wait until we have that pitch data for EriK Johnson.

I find it hard to believe, so much of the student conduct policy would seem to cover stuff like this.

Why would there be a first amendment issue here?

Still waiting to hear back from bank. Felt really anxious end of feb, now realizing we should just enjoy the ability to save with very low housing costs.

D'oh, my brother just sent me that it's behind a paywall, sorry everyone. They ran stats and found that players that outperformed their zips projections in spring training went on to overperform in the season, same trend in underperforming.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 11, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) Neither does Melky Cabrera at this point. Judging people by their numbers in spring training on March 11, is like predicting who wins a golf tournament based on the very first hole. This should be its own thread, really, but : Au contraire http://www.economist.com/blogs/gametheory/...ball-statistics

Reddy's civil cynicism has really overshadowed how great *I* am at voting.

I still think it's pretty clear Bulls are much better with him. he's one of the few players on offense strong enough to get to the spots he wants. He's just not making good decisions. Unreal the amount of turnovers from our guards this year. Kirk/Brooks/rose, just bad. Bulls really could have used a steady ballhandler presence like Andre Miller was last year for Wiz.

Snark aside, that was a great article. Did not know Phillips addition.

My prediction: needless handwringing about saying Micah's stock is up.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 11, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) Foles reminds me a lot of McCown. He got to destroy a lot of the same awful defenses McCown did in 2013, then was dreadful the following year. Foles bad season last year reminded me a lot of the best of what Bradford has done when healthy. I'm willing to believe, considering Sanchez, Bradford will outperform his previous stats, but I have a hard time believing this guy was worth more than foles considering salary and his injuries.
-
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradSa00.htm I don't know how you can look at those stats and say he is clearly better than Foles from his NFL time. Since college, he has not thrown a lot of pics, which is good, but barely 60% accuracy and only 6 YPA. So he MAY be a top 15 QB if healthy based off that. Foles 2013 was clearly way better than anything Bradford has ever done: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FoleNi00.htm

Oh my, that Files trade was AWFUL. Eagles get a fourth but give up a fifth and a 2016 2nd round pick. Unbelievable. I would have guessed you could get Bradford for a second alone.
-
Update: Rams sent Bradford and a pick to the Eagles for Foles, Eagles did not include pick. Still such a weird deal.
-
Hot take: Carlos Quentin was his most immature in his best season...

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) If the Sox think he's earned it fine, but all this talk is just confirmation bias after 20 PA. I mean seriously, PUMP THE f***ING BREAKS. Every single year it seems someone is anointed the next big thing in camp this year Rodon and Micah get to split the honors. I can only hope the Sox are a little more savvy then some of the fans and media. I can't think of the last time someone was annointed next big thing since like Ryan Sweeney was referred to as a baseball god. For a lot of people, there was wonder on just why the org tended to view micah with so much preference. This is the first time people can see that. Honestly, I think you can chill, you read 4 posts in a game thread and then go off the deepend. Heads up, every small action is a career indictment in game threads.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) This FA opening day has sucked IMO. Not the moves but all the reported moves or "interest" that may be false or may be correct. No one knows whats going on until moves are made official through the teams or players as far as I am concerned. Speaking of...is it official official the McPhee deal?

I am fine with what Bears are doing. They will end up with a new safety, but if they don't believe in a guy longterm, then don't sign them. We are not going to win a championship through Free Agency, but if we do, we have a GM from the one team who has. I trust him.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) If they sign Rolle as reported a strong possibility that would be why they didnt go after Searcy. I would reverse that logic.
-
Royal to bears already refuted.
-
I'm sure the deal is small, and the Bears have 2 WRs currently. No biggy. Would like to take a flyer on Danario Alexander Is he available?
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) Why would he not be available? No one knows that now. Best guess: he's saying that this proves Mariota will not be available past #2.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 51s51 seconds ago Filed to ESPN: Rams close to trading QB Sam Bradford to Philadelphia for Nick Foles and draft-pick compensation, per sources. Chip Kelly is crazy!!! I don't know money, but I am surprised the eagles need to give up any $ in that deal. For me, I'd take Foles over Bradford.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) We'll see in a year or two if guys like Noah and Butler can maintain their level of play I guess. At the end of the day, you're right, this doesn't mean much because they're not winning without a semi-healthy Rose. They can either achieve what they can and get to the playoffs and lose, or they can be hurt from overplay and get to the playoffs and lose. Noah is almost 30. if in a couple of years he falls off that sounds like most centers ever.
