  1. It shows the futility of "winning" an argument with these people when something like "they treated my dad for ulcers incorrectly" as an absolute against biology and medicinal science, but the millions and millions of cases of the success and improved health outcomes are proof of nothing.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) I probably would see red if I caught someone doing that. I'm surprised you didn't light him up. Unfortunately did not see anyone, just that there is now a huge garbage can and chair in that spot.
  3. realizing that all my favorite blogs are now gone. It was a slow march. I'm most sad about what TPM has become. What once was a hard hitting investigative and insightful sight, has now become huffpo light. Marshall barely blogs. A commentor said it best on a really s*** article about MLK's mother being shot, calling it "the salonification of TPM". It hit the nail on the head. All it is now is John Oliver/Daily show clips, "wacky republican quote" and filler.
  4. How many games did Westbrook miss? He's having a terrific year too.

    Snowmageddon 2015

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) My brother who lives in lakeview stated that someone removed someone's dibs garbage from the street and watched someone park there only to get their tires slashed. I'm glad I use a zip car and my real car just sits around collecting dust. Seeing someone put dibs on a spot that my wife cleaned out made me want to throw them in the yard, but I figured the poor sap who parked there might take a punishment. All the more reason Dibs should end.
  6. Did not see that coming. Nice to escape. You can complain about lack of NIKO / DMD minutes but Snell was in that boat and then some, and he just played the whole fourth. The minutes come around.
  7. If you want to feel terrible about roses athletic ability, watch how Payton just came at him three times in a row at a helpless rose.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) Taj is so unathletic now. He looks to have lost two steps out there. Seriously. Suddenly we have no guards who can stop dribble penetration and only one mobile big to funnel them to.
  9. Good Jimmy game in one where Rose has nothing. Defensively Bulls have nothing in a real bad pau d game.
  10. Picked out my games from our ticket package today. Can't wait. We went to big hurt brew house to do it, thinking it would be fun. You know, harmless bar food. My god was it terrible in all respects.

so it's been 40 degrees two days straight and has been 8 days since the snow. DIBS IS OVER. ITS OVER, YOU DONT JUST GET TO CLAIM A SPOT ON A PUBLIC STREET FOREVER. It's behavior like this that makes me completely immune to the sob stories over digging out for 30 minutes only to lose your spot over a trip to the drug store. Maybe you should have walked there.
  12. Not sure we should use Bball HOF as a benchmark for anything. But what hurts most of those Pistons was lack of longevity dominating. But for 4-5 years Wallace was dominant, bill ups was dominant. But can the Hawks do it? Who knows. They are clearly the best team in the east right now though, so prematurely discounting them just by guessing how they'll do in postseason sounds silly.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) Not a single index fund? I've never heard of a provider who didn't at least have a 500 index. That too, though I think you mean fees, not cost basis. Cost basis is how much you pay to purchase it, which in the case of Mutual Funds is either the clean price or dirty with fees up front. It's the fee level, and how/when it is charged, that are relevant here. I am excited for people to see what I'm looking at to know if there are alternative terms that I don't understand.
  14. Let me export it this weekend, I don't want to format them right now.
  15. btw thanks everyone for the information.
  16. There is not a single index fund offered. I definitely need answers, I'd love to manage myself as there are plans I am a fan of, but I do not know how employee match is affected if I move to Roth.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Perfectly corresponding with the crash in energy prices. I would have thought that energy crash would have propped up GDP and consumer numbers more than jobs reports. But, obviously the revisions of recent GDP reports have been greater than 1% since q1 of last year.
  18. I'm very frustrated by our 401k fund options, all of which seem very expensive. There is a small employee match, however. They do have aggressive/moderate models that just throw you in %'s of all of them, but I don't understand how to calculate costs of that.
  19. What a jobs report. I would be surprised if q4 GDP does not get substantially revised upward.
  20. I would take every one of those 6 outfielders (some obviously, but whatever) over Dayan so that should probably answer your question.
  21. QUOTE (SnB @ Feb 5, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Is it just me or is the tide of public perception definitely turning on this subject over the past few weeks? Yes, hopefully no infants die in order for that to have happened. Seems like people realized finally it isn't a "quirky, hippy" thing to do as much as it is incredibly dangerous and selfish.
  22. Another listless bulls performance. I have gotten zero enjoyment from this team in 2015.
  23. After Texas State I thought that team was a borderline FBS team. That they improved into conference play says a lot. It definitely beat a number of teams with better talent, so not much more you can ask for there. They have a long way to go but they had a long way to go when he was hired.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 03:31 PM) If that's true, why doesn't anyone watch the NBA all-star activities? And I agree, the NBA does a lot better job marketing their stars, but I don't think that has anything to do with the lame all-star weekend they have. Just fundamentally, you see a basketball players face much more often than in baseball. Basketball is a much more intimate sport, the cameras are much closer and tighter to the action, as are the fans. Basketball shoes are such a huge business and every player has their signature shoes that helps spread a player's brand. Basketball players are much more recognizable and known than baseball players, but I wouldn't say that has anything to do with their all-star weekend. And yet Jeter was a huge celebrity. Baseball has had many larger than life figures, and very recently do not. This isn't like football and goalie masks where the "you can't see their face" excuse is there. Baseball very recently has done a terrible job of injecting their stars into pop culture relevance. You don't think marketing can change that?
