  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) They did in the link “I’m glad I don’t have to face them (in the regular season),” Sale said. “Abreu got in there, and I was like, ‘All right, someone else can pitch.’ I’ll make sure to keep that L screen in front of me. Those guys look good. Everyone looks like they’re coming in, gaining some weight, looking strong. I’m looking forward to it.” Abreu and Garcia might have looked imposing, but they were hardly confident facing pitches at 90 mph-plus for the first time. Garcia looked uncomfortable facing Sale’s fastball and then laughed when the left-hander threw an off-speed pitch that buckled his knees. Well, it is Sale we are talking about. Glad he gets to face an ace in practice.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) It is amusing that this juror gives a face interview yet refuses to give her name to protect her family. Less amusing, that 2 people could actually believe self defense could be used.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 03:06 PM) I think that team could win a championship with Ronnie f***ing Brewer at SG. Me too.
  4. Why did Frank get all prissy on Twitter earlier? What rookie was compared to him?
  5. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) IF the facts are as laid out by bmags, and there wasn't actually a gun in the car, then the only way to justify the reasonable far of imminent harm/death is that a carload of loud black teens is sufficient to justify making the inference that one of them is armed. That's an awful decision by the jury. Yeah, it's up to the jury to decide, but that doesn't excuse the fact that it is a bad result under those facts. Well said.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 18, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) I agree with you. HOWEVA, there was SOME evidence (however strong or credible) that the guy thought the kid pulled a gun out. I don't believe it based on what I've read, I think it's totally discredited by his wife who testified that he never told her about a gun, but whatever. I'm not about to sit here and claim that based on my reading of other peoples' summaries of testimony/reaction that I know exactly what evidence was offered and how a reasonable person should have voted. This guy isn't getting out of jail anytime soon, and the murder conviction is just a technicality at this point. He may or may not get convicted with another jury, but the end result is the same - the guy is spending the rest of his life behind bars for being a dumbass criminal. But there was no gun. He'd get credit if there WAS a gun. But instead it was just a car full of teenagers being loud and he shot them. You don't get points for being that wrong.
  7. blah blah
  8. Just to reiterate what happened in this story: Man goes to gas station, girlfriend leaves the car and goes into store. Man sees car full of black teens with music blaring. Man drives up next to car and has words with teens. Teen driver initially turns down lyrics, but eventually turns it back up and words were exchanged. Man shoots gun into car full of black teens. Picks up girlfriend. Drives off. Man gets pizza, goes to motel and eats pizza. Man gets arrested. Man writes letters from prison that the reason the teen died was that he participated in thug culture. Man only gets convicted of 3 counts of attempted murder. I don't care whether the years applied to the sentence are lengthy, that you can't get convicted for murder with what happened above is infuriating.
  9. That's so frustrating, there were no weapons in their car.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 10:55 PM) These verdicts don't make any sense then. How can they find him guilty of attempted murder three times (implying that they didn't buy his self defense arguments and that the shootings were unjustified) but then not find him guilty of at least manslaughter when the 4th kid was shot and ends up dead? Completely agree. But apparently there was a handful of jurors that would not vote him guilty. "Sure sure, he tried to kill the 3 kids, but he didn't have anything to do with the kid who ended up dead! See what I'm sayin? Perfect sense".
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) Technically true, but that's only because of overzealous prosecutors. Incorrect, Judge informed jury that they could convict him of lesser charges, including 2nd degree murder.
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 06:41 PM) I see a Stand Your Ground type serial killer on a cop show drama in the future. He "thought he saw a shotgun".

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) Hard to believe the Sox have a home game in 6 weeks. This winter just won't end. I used to complain about how winter was just 35 degrees and overcast. What I would kill for that.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 07:21 AM) I thought the first episode of house of cards was amazing. It's was pretty lackluster after that but it's starting to pick up steam again. Just finished episode 10. I just really can't stand the idea that there wouldn't be more security cam footage for every bad thing that's happened. Find me a condo garage where important people live without a camera in it!

The police in house of cards are so hilariously inept though.
  16. QUOTE (Boogua @ Feb 16, 2014 -> 10:02 PM) 3rd to 5th. He could have easily gone later too depending on the combine and other factors. People are trying to make him look like a better prospect than he is to try to blame his draft position on him being gay. It's ridiculous. Thats what happens when sites like SI drop him 60 spots the day after the announcement.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 16, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) Is it really worth retrying the first degree count when they already got two second degree convictions? Attempted is the key word there.
  18. Again, Vandys offensive tackle he did that against Will be in the NFL. He also had high TFL and if everyone racked up that production vs weaker competition 10 sacks in college wouldn't matter. Even when Sam didn't get to the QB he'd have good pressure. When Sam got extra attention Ealy took off. Surprise surprise. Sam has really good potential as a specialist, but needs to work on being a linebacker or being a full time DE vs run.
  19. Michael Dunn not convicted of murder after shooting into a car full of black unarmed teens for playing music too loud. Racism is dead.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 11:27 PM) I've been saying since draft day when the Bulls passed on him. I know I'm jaded because of Michigan but just believe Hardaway is better at getting to the hole. Not the shooter Snell could be but can shoot and feel Jr does more on the floor than Snell. Time will tell. It seems like the progression of rookies under thibs is they look like hell while they learn his d, and then when they feel comfortable there we see their value on O. Same progression happens with vets except it's usually 1-2 months. This is why we have such slow starts last few years.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) That happened to me. Was dicking around forever and switched USB cords, making it work right away. Also, uninstall any others Android devices' drivers if you have those installed It was the USB, I did hours of dicking aroudn because I didn't want to go to the car to get my other one. ALso fun, because i killed the battery on my PC, I can't use the cyanogenmod mac installer because my phones on 4.4 now. Long day. If you find the htc one sprint img for 4.3 let me know.
  22. Not to beat a dead horse but not upset that under armour sponsored equipment continues to get bad publicity. I hope they lose all of their sponsorships so I never have to see their terrible ideas again.
  23. QUOTE (Boogua @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 07:28 PM) If it was 1st round talent that announced he was gay this wouldn't be an issue. LOL
  24. Sigh, i know this is going to end up being the USB.
  25. If he's not a favorite for this then we really f'd up.
