  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 05:12 PM) Whoa dude, you read way too much into my post. I have never, no ever will, blamed MJ for his father's death. I was just making a crack about how there's always something "worse" people could do. I could have gone with rape, but, that'd be too far even for me! Oh, nvm. Anyway, no one will ever replace Jordan culturally. Do you all realize the only reason Chicago is known outside of North America is because of Jordan? Say you are from Chicago and the only thing people know is "Chicago bulls! Michael Jordan!" If you are lucky they know Al Capone. Beside that the world knows LA for hollywood and New York for being New f'n York. Now that that's closed, I want to bring up something: Sometimes it seems like media driven narratives become reality just because people talk about it so much. I believe Sam Smith tried to do this for 12 years with KG to the Bulls but it never took. Which leads me to right now. Something that will not go away nationally despite making no sense and not a peep locally is this: Melo to Bulls Thibs to Knicks. It's. not. stopping. Is there more there than I realize? Is this just national media laziness?
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Jrue Holiday has a stress fracture in his leg and is out for a long time. Another point guard bites the dust. Good lord.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) Seriously guys... Charles Tillman ‏@peanuttillman 3h I just saved 15% on my car insurance. I'm so excited, just thought I should share this with y'all. Hahahahaha! He just lost all good will from his years of charity AND football prowess!
  4. Well this has been one of the more interesting offseasons of the last 5 years, that's for sure.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) I hated Lebron when he did his whole thing. THe fact of the matter is he's an amazing player and a pretty good dude who always plays hard, works to get better, and is just a transcending player. I have a lot of respect as to how (post decision) he's gone out and shut everyone up. I hate the Heat (literally hade Dwade) and don't like rooting for them but I do find myself cheering for Lebron again. He was my favorite player in the league when he was with Cleveland and he is starting to become that again. Just incredible to watch. I feel this way. I also have noticed that I tend to like Lebron a lot more the less I watch him.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) PSU is going to have a really tough time in their division, of course not all PSU fans care about winning, for example: Always, Always holier than thou. To this day they think they are the cleanest program ever ran. Ha! What is that quoting?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 04:22 PM) Do other apps work with MMS? Or is it only Hangouts? Stock works with MMS. I just turned off hangouts handling SMS and everything is back to normal.
  8. So, I don't like MJ as a person (though my grandma did see him film a Hanes ad in Chicago and thought he was handsome), but Steve's sentence is kind of unfair. While it is terribly selfish to gamble to the point of a family member in trouble, it's not like he wanted his father to die if that scenario would be true.
  9. So, that one issue aside, James Franklin to me was going to be the best hire in college football. I thought if the stanford coach left he was a lock. Penn State will be a tough win for the next few years, and mizzou like gains back an easy win! Woo hoo!
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) Why can't you? From this: http://buzzmobile.us/sprint-apn-settings-android-us/, it looks like you can. Negative. The button is there but it's a grayed out link I can't access.a
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) We laughed at them because we didn't trust the FO, but moving Deng wasn't exactly a startling move, it needed to happen. Really, the guy made a duh prediction at the time when it was in the works and being talked about. Predicting James next move is a lot bigger of a shot in the dark IMO I don't know, I put a 2% chance of us trading Deng. I was shocked.
  12. I just don't think James will do that. He's not going to keep hopping franchise to franchise. It's CLE or MIA, but 99.999% MIA. But, yeah this NYDN thing, I am perplexed by how we're getting beat by this.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) But that would leave them unable to spend that money in March when free agency actually opens. They'd get the dregs in June. Well, couldn't you spend the money "set aside" for rookies, knowing you'll clear up the money for their salary after June 1? edit: this is actually a question, I don't know the answer.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) I think a lot of them can. Japan, for example, is a geographic nightmare. UK/France has a large salt water body between them. This is one place where you might be able to blame a lot of government-related things so you should like it. It's insanely expensive to build infrastructure in the U.S. compared with the rest of the world. Building the same train in the U.S. costs like 3x or more what it costs in Japan, and they're a much bigger earthquake risk to boot. It's probably a lot of factors. Local/provincial issues (I'm not moving my house!), tax issues, feifdoms, environmental requirements, lots of power in the hands of local issues/leaders (my richest constituents use that road every day, how can you put a train line across it), unions, the federal/state budgeting processes, and I'm sure you can add to it. Of course, one counter-point is that it might be easiest to make things like that happen in a country with an extremely strong central government that can shove people out of the way...which fits very well with why China is able to pull off a variety of projects like this today at dramatically lower costs than we can. That may not be the model we want to follow either. This is where infrastructure projects need to begin with this issue. The insanity is when a commission on this was done they couldn't even figure out a specific reason, it's just...all of it.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:41 AM) MMS works for me. Make sure your APN settings are correct (depends on your carrier). I can't b/c of sprint. And judging by their dev forums I'm one of many people with this problem.
  16. Can someone let me know when hangouts can actually handle MMS and isn't a garbage app.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:20 AM) Clarkson buying into his NBA hype? From the parts I saw, it looked like he forgot he had teammates. Looks like it. Whole team was garbage and game was called SEC style.
  18. So in BCS summary, Mizzou had two top five finishes, neither years with a BCS bowl.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 04:13 AM) Stunning loss, UGa has been horrible this year. I know they were playing for their coach, who just lost his father. And our players were playing for themselves all night. What a joke. This team is same as last year, will continue to be a garbage watch.
  20. Missouri's about to lose at home to an embarrassingly bad Georgia team. Absolutely horrible loss.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 11:26 PM) SF seemed to be more convenient but my experience is pretty limited This is insanity.
  22. It's okay, was just a joke, back to Tanaka.
  23. Will the freed up Luol Deng cash affect how much we have to spend
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) I don't know that I'd say that, but I completely understand. Then again, I think, especially with a Cover 2, you can find effective safeties for much cheaper too. Frankly, Cover 2 safeties - if they run a Cover 2 again - primarily just have to play deep zones and tackle. You can find a lot of guys who can do that. You would certainly think so!
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) If the Iowa game was any indication, it's going to be called old school with a timely touch foul here and there. It seems like refs have given up with new rules in big rivalry games, wouldn't be surprised if in conference it goes back to normal. For most conferences that's probably good, I'm a little upset if SEC doens't clean it up. I much preferred Big XII basketball than Mizzou's first year in SEC. It was just way too much arm grabbing, clogged lanes and hard hits because frankly a lot of the teams suck and that's how they keep it close.
