  1. You know you had a bad game when I look at the final score the next day and saw you only lost by nearly 50 points: http://www.nba.com/games/20140209/PHILAC/g...nfo.html?ls=slt edit: Meant to say, "and am impressed to see you only lost by nearly 50 points"
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Also, Vandy's OT that he was going against is going to the NFL and was their best offensive lineman. The reason Sam is falling is because at the Senior Bowl he did not play well as a LB when that is what teams really wanted to see. But when he put his hand down and went straight ahead he was electric still. For those who want him to succeed, like me, I think best place would be Seattle, where late round picks suddenly, ahem, get way bigger and faster than everyone else.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 02:33 AM) Only "leak" I heard about Sam was that he ranted in his class for 20 minutes about how he couldn't feed his puppy due to not being paid. The general student population had 0 clue. Uh, really? I've heard that he was pretty open about this since. Like October and I don't even know anyone still in Columbia.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Except for the snowflake snafu, I actually thought it was a pretty cool opening ceremony. There was too much artsy fartsy stuff (they all suffer from that), but projecting pictures into the ice and having people walk/march in line with the projection was pretty cool. Agreed, and considering Russia's history with ballet and theatre at least the artsy fatty stuff fit better. The projection technology was awesome.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2014 -> 06:47 PM) That's so crazy, at such a young age in such good physical shape. Good that he should make a full recovery. My friend at 22 suffered a stroke, it was strange, he just started slurring his words and vomiting, and the furthest thing from your mind is stroke. It took him a while to get back to full strength.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 03:48 PM) I've never particularly disliked Mike Brown, but I would be for firing him now too. That team direly needs leadership. My sense is that the problem is actually Kyrie Irving, to a great extent, but I can't fire him just yet...so I'll hire a coach and hope things can get right. To me the NBA is so strange with coaching. It seems like as soon as you get a coaching gig you are in that circle, and guaranteed to get more and more gigs. If Mike Brown was in the NFL, he would never see a HC gig again after LA and now Cleveland. But the NBA keeps hiring retread coaches that were just bad. Vinny Del Negro will find another gig somehow. Look at all the best coaches. They are either great at handling personalities, or incredible at x's and o's. What is Mike Brown? His calling card hasn't shown through in two teams now. Why hire him instead of an assistant getting their first shot? It's just bizarre.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 6, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) It seems to me that Cleveland is a team where the inmates are running the asylum. I think they should be better than this They should. And in the East, having Luol Deng as your second best player doesn't mean you are a bad team. Contrary to Bulls fans opinions of every single player on their team, Luol is actually good! They have more than enough to win, and it's the coach that gets the axe. Look at the bobcats, less talent, imo, but same squandering lack of identity. They finally get a coach who demands they play the way he wants and suddenly they are a playoff team with Al Jefferson as their #1.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) I think I'll just prefer to be pissed at the person who is a d*** about it to everyone. And your mom can be pissed at her doctor, but she can't sue them! That would make her greedy and ridiculous and cause our healthcare system to spiral out of control.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Oh, highlight film battle? I like high school highlight film. I find the variety of undersized kids and mammoth giants dominating them to be hilarious.
  10. Tavon Ross highlights (Mizzou recruit):
  11. Watching Mizzou game last night made me hate college basketball.
  12. Mizzou with a real nice class. It's one that ranking wise will be back of the SEC, but I like how they found players they thought would fit and were under the radar. And low and behold, these two star recruits suddenly have a break out senior year and alabama and others come knocking and their star rankings climb. Tavon Ross's youtube is just sick (low level of competition) as is Nate Brown. I think this class will feature the next level of playmakers, and some nice in the trenches pieces as well.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 06:37 PM) They are listed by position, according to the article, Dermis Garcia (SS-3B) is the top guy and is expected to sign with the Yanks for $3M+. Article also says that Yanks plan on spending $10M+ this summer in free agency. Not sure what the level of penalty is they receive for that, but that seems a bit extreme as they are likely to be allotted around $3M total. I like how I believed the Yanks were serious in staying underneath luxury max.
  14. Yeah this is fair, and kind of a gut punch at how hard it is to stand back up in the MLB.
  15. Really glad to see this. I feel like I started asking questions about Anderson in early August and people at that point were pretty down. Glad to see he recovered and still excited people with his tools.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 06:05 PM) WEll, he is and has always been a defensive coach, so there must be something he is doing right to produce such a successful defense. After watching NFL for past decade, I'm less enthralled with crazy schemes than coaches who are able to develop talent and teach their scheme to perfection. Seems Carroll is very good at both. That whole organization seems on the same page, and that is so rare in the NFL and difficult to accomplish. See Browns.
  17. No sour grapes intended, but it was striking last night watching all of these undrafted and late round guys looking bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else on the field.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Not sure if this should go here or the video games thread... The Breaking Madden Superbowl I was crying laughing so hard reading that. I had to stop after the midfield thing because I was too loud.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) The East front court sucks. In all honesty, Noah and Millsap aren't all-stars, especially when Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins didn't make the team in the West. Boo hoo, this is the first year that another conference has been stacked at position that the other wasn't.
  20. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 03:07 PM) As expected, Tennessee announced it's switching form Adidas to Nike. I'm pumped... Adidas has lost 2 of their 3 biggest football teams in the last month. Maybe Adidas will be able to pick up the teams currently on the trash factory known as Under Armor.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 12:56 AM) Are you serious? In '06 and '07 Kobe was running with Smush Parker,, Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown and Wite, I mean Luke Walton. He had no choice but to fire away. Right, poor choice of words. I mean some of his most prolific scoring years he had free reign to jack up every shot. I don't think it's a bad thing though. To me 2006 is when I really started to respect Kobe on his own, and the struggle those years to the top at the end of the decade was a good story. But then he threw all the good will away that away game where he kept the team waiting while he shot jumpers the rest of the night (with media watching).
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 02:52 AM) Oh, and I'm totally off the Kyrie Irving bandwagon. His handles and commercials are nice. But the Cavs have sucked for three years running now. He's just a great fantasy player at this point. I've also never actually seen a game where he played well (though I hear they happen).
  23. For the record, they ended up changing the title to "Still trying to get the White Sox to trade Dunn".
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 12:33 AM) A less contentious and perhaps more easily measured question -- what caliber of scorer are we talking about w/ KD? Is he the best since Jordan (that would mean better than Kobe)? It's hard. Kobe's numbers also rely on a few years of not giving a s*** about getting his teammates involved. That 2006 season was insane for his rebounding and scoring, but yeah. So maybe with KD.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) With how the SS position has evolved, I find this to be very much 2000-vintage thinking. Right now, if you're tolerable with the bat but great with the glove you're a $50 million/5 year contract level shortstop. Tolerable is the key word.
