  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 10, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Our only hope is that Joey T's up Lebron or Wade for all their constant whining about not getting foul calls. Eh, Joey saves up his angst for random players most of the time.
  2. Forgot this thread existed, good bump.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Good god no, I'm sure there are some teams who haven't even started signing players yet. Rumor is though that Long was going in the top 24 anyways, no matter what I drunkenly rambled about on the night of the draft. Those rumors I never believe. They come out after every reach in an attempt to justify the pick.
  4. I'm still really mad about 1 think about last night: The heat were doing cheap shots, the bulls were fouling hard. Yet all you hear is the game was "physical". All actions were equal.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) I'm guessing he wants to be paid like a 1-20 pick, while the Bears are arguing that they overdrafted him big time. Have picks around him signed?
  6. Anyone have 18,400 lying around? There are 2 courtside seats available for Monday's game.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 9, 2013 -> 07:19 PM) Am I the only one who found The Great Gatsby book in HS to be extremely boring? I mean, I'll admit I only read about 5% of the assigned books throughout grade school/high school/college, but I remember the Spark Notes being incredibly boring w/ that book. I guess I just don't get it, or I'm not cultured enough. Yeah, probably.
  8. Shame that it has died so fast in Illinois.
  9. Seems like a guy trying to spout his mouth to get a better sentencing.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) the thing is, it pretty much guaranteed a blowout. the refereeing got so out of hand early that the Bulls trotted out a lineup of marco-teague-nazr-cook-gibson early in the 2nd quarter. The Heat did nothing but bully tactics and cheap shots and got away with it. THe bulls pretty much had no chance to win this game. This. It was a good strategy by heat. Start doing a bunch of cheap fouls and goat the bulls into retaliating, bulls were more than happy to comply, refs feel like they have to gain control of game and call a bunch of tic tac fouls that put bulls in foul trouble. Bulls then come into second half scared to foul, leaves lanes wide open for layups, suddenly we are down by 40. The game should call into question why daquan cook is playing so much. He hasn't hit a 3 pointer in 12 years. He keeps stepping out of bounds...which is just bizarre. He's okay defensively, but such a negative otherwise. Meanwhile even Malcom Thomas and VladRad showed more than him. Radmanovich has like 8 steals and 14 points in 10 seconds. I get that Rip sucks, but no way he is worse than Cook at this point.
  11. Duncan has that old man sixth sense now, where they are old and slow, but seem to be able to just use their big ass to move you out of the way and get a slow motion uncontested shot in.
  12. Nuts. I'd try again if I were you.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 8, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) Tried to get a deal with Comcast today, of course I don't actually have any alternatives and they know it so I get charged more for the same plan than many other people in the area. Did you do this over the phone? I've never been denied when actually speaking to someone. As long as you are willing to wait they usually don't even push back much.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) Not only that, it took a WS to bring attendance back. Even when the White Sox successfully rebuilt and got Thomas, Ventura, McDowell and Fernandez in 4 consecutive drafts, and suffered through 3 seasons of barely drawing 1 million fans, it didn't lead to the "sustained success" that many here now say is a requirement for fans to come to games. I really think people are confusing the NBA with MLB. Not many teams bottom out, trade all their best assets for prospects and are contending anytime soon. The strike kind of killed baseball good will in mid 90s.
  15. It's a shame what the refs do to the poor Canucks.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 8, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Wasn't brought up here yet, but the Incidental Economist blog has a whole bunch of posts covering the Oregon Medicare study that came out. Oregon Medicaid – Power problems are important How should the new Medicaid study change our policy preferences? Oregon Medicaid experiment “is a Rorschach test of people’s views of the ACA” What about power for the blood pressure result? (And so much more) That study is a prime example for Nate Silver's prescription in "The Signal and the Noise" to prefer a Bayesian method of scientific knowledge.
  17. I'll just choose to be happy that a player who tore his ACL looks back to normal.
  18. on NPR this morning, apparently LAPD brought 70 police in riot gear to a party of black students at USC. 6 were arrested. They were responding to noise complaints, the students had registered the party with campus officials and had been checking student id's at door. No guns, weapons or drugs were present. Across the street a party of white students went unharmed. But since there are no racists, we can only justify this by saying they were using some formula, or that the neighbors felt threatened and needed to be prepared.
  19. I have comcast and have had no problems. However, I'd never rent equipment from the cable company, it's a racket for them and they treat the equipment like hell. I remember returning a router to comcast at their equipment drop off, she grabbed it from me with two fingers and tossed it across the room into a box.
  20. Speaking of Thomas Jane, this is the greatest thing ever. Seriously, read this below: http://brianjaeger.tumblr.com/post/27339881979/w-t-underwood
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 8, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) 94 Rockets. Unless you consider Sam Cassell or 2-3 year man Robert Horry a star. Ha, I was gonna say Vernon Maxwell but then I looked it up and holy hell. 13 ppg on 38% shooting. I was young those years, but I thought he was better than that.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 8, 2013 -> 04:00 PM) Hawks penalty kill has been awesome, Hawks power play has been not awesome. Tepid and boring PP. Last night was the first playoff game I've been able to catch. Felt gooood. I'm not too concerned about our first line, we should just more be thrilled that our 3rd line has done what they should be doing. Also, loved Foley calling out how bad Handzus has been, then Handzus scoring immediately. I love when the reverse jinx works out.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) You can seriously make the argument that the only two teams to win an NBA Championship in the last 30 years that didn't have atleast 2 stars on it were the 2004 Pistons and the 2011 Mavericks. Considering Chandlers progression, fair to say he propelled himself to "star" status that year.
