QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Basically, Rose is not super efficient because, well, he's just not super efficient. That doesn't mean he cant be. He's 22. But stop making excuses. Welcome to what everyone else is saying, now stop shooting for self satisfaction in your quest to pat yourself on the back because you are such a f***ing "realist".

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) I dont think Nash is as good of a player as Lebron or Wade, what else is there to say? I think Lebron may be one of the top 3 players in the history of basketball when its all said and done, Rose isnt 1 or 2, so why would I argue that Rose is better than Lebron? That would be stupid, last I checked Im not stupid. Wade (imo) was better than Rose, but Im not sure if Id take Wade today over Rose, so once again Im not sure what other year stats have to do with today. Once again, Im talking about Rose being MVP this year. I have no idea what you are arguing about. Basically. Who in their right mind would want to rely on wade for a full season or full playoff run?

I really like my iphone, the familiarity was a big reason for it. I knew where everything was and what it would do before even playing around with it. If you use apple it's a big advantage, imo.

BTW IT HASN'T BEEN MENTIONED YET Good god this playoffs have been so much easier to watch with an ACTUAL coach instead of vinny del negro. Things Vinny would not have done, given rose that 3 minutes of rest with 7 minutes left in the 4th in game 1, after which he came back and started the 16-1 run.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) Thank you, there is such a disconnect among some posters. I like how it's Rose homerism. HE. IS. GOING. TO. WIN. MVP. There is no homerism. It's f***ing realism. He's unreal, and I'd be posting that if he were on the Golden State Warriors. I just happen to be lucky enough that the NBA MVP, 22 years old no less, is on my team. Did some fail to receive the memorandum? There are a lot of really great players in the NBA right now. And I love the Chris Paul is back, it's ridiculous to leave out his injury history and evaluate him based off of fisher guarding him. BUt as a fan, intangibles do matter. Lebron can never be the best player in the nba after last summer. I don't give a s*** if he technically is pound for pound unreal. If he decided to take the pounding Drose takes and use his inside game he would be even better, but he doesn't try to achieve himself at his greatest, Rose does. And that s*** really does matter. CP3 I love but really until I see him back to full speed for a full season he's just not in the discussion. This team really needed a go-to guy and rose has given them that and then some. I'm not worried about losing games late b/c of waiting for ben gordon to hit a fall away three pointer anymore. I'm very grateful.

I find it funny how b****y the indiana fans are about the foul calls. The pacers aren't just fouling, they are fouling really effing hard.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) They are WAY better than when they started this season. They are moving in the right direction. they remind me a lot of the bulls 04-07. They play hard, are scrappy as f***, but in the end they are just a jump shooting team which never get very far in the playoffs. For example: last night.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else scream at the top of their lungs at boozer when he ran to give a screen for korver as drose was getting double teamed at mid court? God he is dumb. I like his attitude though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) No, reread what I said. I was marveling at how much better DR1 was at keeping guys in front of him in teh 2nd half. Every guard and their grandmother was torching him in the first half, and suddenly in January I stopped complaining about our guard defense. his number 1 obstacle as far as i'm concerned is getting around the screens, he's fast enough that one on one he can keep in front of guys enough, but once he can get around the screen then I think people will stop talking about his D. The nice thing is that I know he'll put all the effort necessary to become good at d.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) That's just it though when you say how team-oriented it is. When Boozer is 11th in the league, you can see how flawed the statistic is. Rose has made leaps and bounds defensively though and has shut down the top PGs in the league. As for the Paul vs. Rose debate, it amazes me how quickly people's minds change. Two months ago, it was Deron vs. Rose. Rose is the better player right now and there is no way I would even think about trading him for Chris Paul. I will say Paul is close to Rose, but you guys are advocating for a guy who averaged just under 16 points per game and whose numbers are declining the past three years. That's not a trend you want. And someone who has suffered major knee injury.

Would you support a second football or basketball team in Chicago?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) The Sox have been in Chicago for 110 years. Adding a new team will start from stratch. I really don't think it matters. Baseball for one is a terrible example, because their stadiums are huge and play 81 damn games each year and 2 months of terrible weather. But strangely enough a lot of cubs fans go to sox games and vice versa. There's a huge market for sports in chicago. I think you could find more sustainable support in Chicago for another basketball/football franchise than in a lot of teh other markets we think would be a good fit just because of population.

Would you support a second football or basketball team in Chicago?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) It takes a lot to get people to adapt a second team. People aren't going to adapt it just because ticket prices are chep. Yeah but i think the fact that people that probably identify more with chicago are now fans of another city now because they started winning a lot shows that these loyalties are a lot more fluid than we'd imagine. I think there is enough of a market of people who are half bears fans or who are big football fans to fill up 8 games. Do I think it would be as successful as the bears? No. Do I think it would be more successful than the jaguars? Yes. Same with the white sox. We may play second fiddle to a second team in the city but we grab enough to justify chicago having 2 baseball teams.

Would you support a second football or basketball team in Chicago?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) The same ideas would apply in Chicago. Simply adding a second team isn't going to change many minds. They have to win before people will really switch loyalties. but it also depends which city people identified with. Southern illinois are more cardinals fans b/c they identify more with STL than chicago. That NWI doesn't hold much sway. The fact that a winning team was able to move loyalties says a lot.

Would you support a second football or basketball team in Chicago?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) It has taken Peyton Manning to start to get people in NWI to switch loyalties. Unless the 2nd team offers a big time winner, it doesn't matter. Probably why we haven't discussed adding another team for indianapolis.

Would you support a second football or basketball team in Chicago?
I think in general people are overestimating loyalties. I think a second team of either sport in chicago would be the opposite of a new orleans following. Where the first couple years they struggle but would have a much better chance of long term sustainability. This market has proven to have a large amt of people willing to pay to see sports, and i think it probably has room to grow. The NFL is so popular right now it seems the easier option with it's 8 games it needs to sell, but I actually think a basketball team could survive pretty well.

that jesse jackson comment is stupid. I get that he's divisive. But in contrast to things like the tea party leader's HILARIOUS card in california, Jackson's comments aren't based on pushing the thinking that white people are devolved and an inferior race, which is the basis of the jokes this person finds so funny. It's such a different dynamic, he continually puts charges of racism that completely undermine any chances of progress, but there is such a huge difference between things essentially saying "You are not my equal" and "You are not seeing me as an equal". This whole anti-anti-racism being some huge rallying cry is just ridiculous and isn't even worth entertaining.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) ROFL. Guy is getting guarded by Derick Fisher. He isn't even close to the all around player that Rose is. Yeah. I was excited to see paul so quick on that knee b/c i want as many awesome players to watch as possible and you hate to see a guy fall due to injury, but that said: it was incredibly perplexing how LA was guarding him. I get that Phil likes someone who he can trust to run the offense at the point at the expense of some d, but for them to just throw him 1-on-1 on paul was nuts.
