I'm glad kap finally recognizes the state of things with the status quo.

um, one of the reasons I like this, is that while I'm very confident of us keeping track of our own nukes, Russia hasn't really been that on top of things. SO yeah, we can bomb the world over, but i'm glad less nukes can be "lost track of."

If this gets held up...sigh.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) It also screams Q losing his mind on the bench with his only respite from the disparaging voice in his head being the 4 or 5 PA he'd get per game. He'd be bat s*** crazy by week 3 of the experiment. It also leaves Juan Pierre and his league-worst arm in left field which does not please me in the least but then again if you move Pierre to DH who becomes the starting LF? Quentin? He was a pretty awful defender out there and we are kind of banking on him going back to his plus defender days with a move back to his natural position of RF. Rios? He's an elite defensive RF with a plus bordering on elite arm, seems as though that would be wasted in LF especially with Quentin and his mediocre arm in right field. Jones? If he really is the best defensive CF on the team why would you put him in a corner OF position? And besides; I don't think Ozzie would do that to him anyway, he's not going to put a 14 year vet with 10 GG to his name in a position other than the one that he was playing super elite defense at only 3 years ago. I suppose what would really happen would be a rotating OF with Pierre and Quentin getting the majority of the games at DH, Jones picking up a few as well and the 4 of them rotating between OF spots depending upon personnel. I also agree that he's a tremendous injury risk especially playing a near full time role in the outfield. That's why I wouldn't even attempt it for the first month or 2, rushing him out there would just be asking for trouble. Yeesh, this would just open up a whole new can of worms. BUT THE FACT THAT WE HAVE FIVE PLAYERS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED AS OUTFIELDERS MEANS WE ARE SO FLEXIBLE!

Ugh, but god, say he is batting capably, moving Q to DH and then Andruw to CF just screams injury.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) There's a 100x better shot that Jones becomes the starting CF and Rios shifts to right. stop making me nauseous

to bigsqwert this was a comment on yglesias' blog that I laughed out loud at: mark f Says: March 26th, 2010 at 12:37 pm One time a guy on his cell phone rear-ended Eric Cantor at a stop sign, so really both sides are doing it.

What kind of logic is it that they think they can just wait it out? IMO, a mass resignation would be GOOD for the church. You can't think things have changed when everyone who was responsible is still in charge.

2 years ago we visited the vatican and their new journalism/PR school they were putting in place. it appears they didn't follow any of the crap they spewed to us. This was the exact stuff we talked about, in crisis, would they serve as accurate liaisons for the church, or would they again close up. They took the Roger Ailes media to heart.

Within the last month, new huge scandals have been uncovered in Ireland and Germany. With Germany, of course, is the huge blockbuster news that Pope benedict knew of abuse going on in Germany, and handled it, well you can guess. The NYT found abuse in the sixties of a priest molesting deaf children in a closet. He spoke sign language and was the reason the family brought their kids there. When the children grew up, they brought it to the church. It was ignored. They were yelled at. http://www.jsonline.com/features/religion/89121802.html Milwaukee story The national catholic reporter: The future pope knew: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/26/world/europe/26church.html An irish bishop was removed. That has been the only position so far that I know has been removed. A. Sullivan makes the case that it's because the church has chosen to view this as a sin and not a crime. But, with it now being a global crisis with the current popes hands red, action is being called upon. I hope to see some serious reform. So far benedict has tinkered around the edges.

Yeah, well it's focused in Ireland and Germany. With a sidestory in NYT in Milwaukee of deaf children being molested in a closet by their priest, and the church ignoring them. ...f*** you are right this does need it's own thread. I won't discuss much in it but i'll start it.
-
um...i guess i'll just say if you want to read about the church scandal go to andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com he's a good aggregator. Personally, I guess I just don't want to discuss it much because it really makes me sick.

Yeah, i mean, isn't this even worse, though, than Boston? They've found proof that Pope Benedict knew about the abuse and did nothing. And they continue to refuse to apologize or any effort to remove those from the church. They are trying to build their congregation after "turning the page" after boston, this explodes. THE ONLY WAY to fix this is to show how serious the catholic church is on fixing it. 1. Using the countries local law enforcement 2. Letting priests marry.

I thought this was a funny line, from Josh Marshall: "Cantor's claim seems to be that he was attacked by one of those Renaissance military engineers from Italy who first discovered the parabolic ballistic equations that allowed you to shoot artillery nearly straight up in the air and have it hit your enemy on the way back down."
-
since technically one of the stipulations was you could use the money for fixing curbs, they used seemingly all the money on that. At least the majority. And then would just paint a stripe with like 7 inches of room on the major roads, where cars go 55 mph and in bad weather are awful. So no biker still rides on those roads, but the city saved itself money by fixing the curbs with grant money!!!!!!!

# James Barr March 12th, 2010 11:37 am: Sorry to burst your bubble everyone, but this is a worthless test. Go cook a USDA prime filet mignon and let it sit on a plate indoors for a year, and it’s not going to rot because it DRIED OUT. Set it outside, and it will rot. Common sense…this test is 100% worthless and furthermore, extremely misleading. Seriously, try it with a prime cut of beef if you don’t believe me. Anything that is allowed to dry and remain in an indoor, dry environment will have the same result. There are valid reasons to avoid fast food restaurants, but this is not one of them. # Nonna Joann March 12th, 2010 12:10 pm: Okay, I know the climate played a part in my Happy Meal’s preservation. I’m well aware that this was not a scientific study. I did NOT call it an experiment. I saved the Happy Meal to observe and blog about. Which I did. I recorded my opinions. You might want to take a look at these McDonald French fries which were placed in a sealed jar. It’s amazing that after 461 days they don’t look too different from mine> http://www.davisonshire.org/Junk/McMold.htm
