  1. That's ridiculous. The board as consensus pretty much knew 07 was going to be pretty awful, it didn't make 07 any easier. There's few told you so moments, in 05 the battle over those throwing up the flag when cleveland was steaming behind and those rally crede-ing did create some ha-ha's when we wrapped up the division (nobody cared when we won the WS). It's pretty easy to understand this message board. YOu have thousands of posters who are really passionate about their team and want to read about them constantly. We do this because you want to be able to understand the team. We want to be able to understand why we are doing well, or why we are failing, because it's fun to understand. But these predictions don't have any control over the emotions of the season. IF we win, we are happy. If we lose, we are unhappy. If we thought we'd be bad and are, we are still unhappy. If we thought we'd be bad and are good, we are still happy. A lot of these people Ranger is classifying as can be negative about anyone to no consequences because they'll just celebrate anyway if they are good, well yeah. They are able to celebrate because most all of us here invest in this team through watching games and merchandise. We don't NOT follow the team and then follow when they are great, our investment in this team at any level is enough to be able to celebrate the success. We don't all need to fool ourselves to think everything about this team will work out just so then if it does we can celebrate it guilt free. Guilt would come from celebrating the team when we don't know a damn thing about them.
  2. ugh, look at the bug eyed POS. Gross
  3. speak? I think he spoke at a forum but not a speech.
  4. Was super excited to watch the pacific since I loved band of brothers so much. But it was awful. As I told my friend, it was more Pearl Harbor the movie than band of brothers.
  5. 20 ks is incredible. That performance was amazing. Both showed how exciting great pitching can be, however.
  6. Well, if they do, lets just hope they broadcast it on youtube first.
  7. Man charged after threatening to kill eric cantor on youtube... http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2...deo.php?ref=fpa Bravo police. And bravo youtube for making it so easy for us to find the whackos.
  8. ahh, i can just see it, an email from Tim Kaine to supporters saying he just watched michael moores sicko and how awesome it was. And how cknolls would not miss the point on that email.
  9. no biggy, those people keep me employed. Love how they pick and choose when to follow the constitution.
  10. Good to know the catholic church doesn't believe in personal responsibility.
  11. I mean, considering their history of price cuts in 2nd gen and the possibility of some seriously boner upgrades, I have never bought at the launch. Especially with this one though, since i have $7.
  12. you don't understand kap, strangesox. If you criticize dbags for being dbags, kap reads it as everyone remotely related to the subject is dbags, including kap himself, so he turns it around and claims that YOU are the dbag for calling kap a dbag, all of which never happened.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) The talk around town as it was the beginning of pitch counts and how to keep pitchers healthy was that the conditions were such that the game could have a negative long term impact. Mechanics and what not became the thing a few years later with Tom House v. Mike Marshall. The impressive part as I look at it is a guy doing something really out of the norm. Brady Anderson, if not Ped enhanced, is impressive as at the time 50 HR were rare compared to today and for a guy like Anderson to do it was impressive. I just think there is a difference in comparing the accomplishments. Kind of like comparing someone hitting .400 and somebody hitting 60 HR without PEDS. 50 Hrs is more common today than in the late nineties?
  14. Um, I have a feeling that what ozzie could consider a success for kotsay at third would not match up with what reasonable production for batting third would be. If he's batting .280 with horrible power in that position i'm sure ozzie would keep him there.
  15. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Whoops. Why leave the corn starch in the recipe, then? There's a health food store basically across the street so I will use the real thing if I try this. Yeah, out of context from her blog it doesn't make sense, right? But she basically is documenting all the stuff she is baking. Since she used corn starch, that's what she wrote for the recipe. It's more of a conversation right now than a recipe book.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 27, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) Oh, only slightly? Man, that sucks. In order for utopia the proper redistribution of wealth, you better hand over more then slightly. One of these days, you're going to be "rich". TOTALLY.
  17. I'm glad kap finally recognizes the state of things with the status quo.
  18. um, one of the reasons I like this, is that while I'm very confident of us keeping track of our own nukes, Russia hasn't really been that on top of things. SO yeah, we can bomb the world over, but i'm glad less nukes can be "lost track of."
  19. If this gets held up...sigh.
  20. three strikeouts, allllllllllright
  21. who buys software anymore? It's 2010.
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) It also screams Q losing his mind on the bench with his only respite from the disparaging voice in his head being the 4 or 5 PA he'd get per game. He'd be bat s*** crazy by week 3 of the experiment. It also leaves Juan Pierre and his league-worst arm in left field which does not please me in the least but then again if you move Pierre to DH who becomes the starting LF? Quentin? He was a pretty awful defender out there and we are kind of banking on him going back to his plus defender days with a move back to his natural position of RF. Rios? He's an elite defensive RF with a plus bordering on elite arm, seems as though that would be wasted in LF especially with Quentin and his mediocre arm in right field. Jones? If he really is the best defensive CF on the team why would you put him in a corner OF position? And besides; I don't think Ozzie would do that to him anyway, he's not going to put a 14 year vet with 10 GG to his name in a position other than the one that he was playing super elite defense at only 3 years ago. I suppose what would really happen would be a rotating OF with Pierre and Quentin getting the majority of the games at DH, Jones picking up a few as well and the 4 of them rotating between OF spots depending upon personnel. I also agree that he's a tremendous injury risk especially playing a near full time role in the outfield. That's why I wouldn't even attempt it for the first month or 2, rushing him out there would just be asking for trouble. Yeesh, this would just open up a whole new can of worms. BUT THE FACT THAT WE HAVE FIVE PLAYERS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED AS OUTFIELDERS MEANS WE ARE SO FLEXIBLE!
  23. ba dum ch
  24. Ugh, but god, say he is batting capably, moving Q to DH and then Andruw to CF just screams injury.
  25. Per Andrew Sullivan
