Civil Unrest, Riots, Protests in Iran
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) It worked out so well with Tiennamen Square. China doesn't routinely play the "great satan" card.

These two men are NOT stupid, I know this. However, this is the STUPIDEST DAMN THING I'VE EVER COME ACROSS AS A SPORTS FAN! This isn't poor judgment in the "we don't know how to scout" category, or the "we sign the wrong guys" category, that just means you aren't cut out...this is willfully declining to sign a player you KNOW will make you better,a nd he's coming in at a paupers salary. KW is acting like his 8 year old son is in control of the team and he doesn't want to hurt his feelings. DIE EVERYONE WORLD IS OVER

I'm making the following tonight...
Overcooked the meat, I WAY overestimated how long that would take. I thought since I didn't brown the meat it would take longer, but it was basically boiling in the cream, I should've realized. Nonetheless, creme de leite is AWESOME! SOOOO much better than sour cream. My sister-in-law says that it's the equivelant of table cream which you can find in the latina section. EXCELLENT The vinaigrette is fantastic, seriously, best thing I've learned in brazil is that the s*** i was used to putting things on was SEVERELY limiting. (best example: mustard) BUt so, i used balsamic since I was w/o white wine vinegar, and it was still awesome. It's essentially pico, no doubt, but without the spice it makes it much more transformative I feel. so yeah. GREAT first try at brazilian stroganoff. Don't think I want nutmeg (don't much care for it.) but definitely missed the garlic.

since 2006 we've had a 100 mill payroll and since 2006 have been in one of the weaker divisions. And we have 1 division title to show for it. If we don't make it into the playoffs next year, JR should start looking at the idiotic holes KW places on this ball club for a manager who seems to think it makes his team better.

"Chicago Things" you don't like/do
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) This sounds like me. I have nothing against other styles, many can be very well done. But a loaded Chicago Style Pizza, correctly done, that's about the top of my list. This is the thing, for my money nobody has better sauces then the chicago joins, and nobody offers the sheer overload of wonderful ingredients and meats, all mixing and complimenting so well together.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Deep dish pizza was lasagna with a pizza crust after-taste. I'd rather make my own pizza at home, St Louis style. ahh, velveeta on a baseball card, I'm glad I know not to listen to your food opinions anymore. Emos is atrocious.

The Era of Over Reaction
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I agree. I also blame politics becoming a team sport with us versus them loyalties to political parties. It really hit home when I was teaching Washington's farewell address. Everything he predicted about political parties came true. hmmm...when I read washington's farewell address it kind of comes across as not so much political parties are bad as much as...that other political party is bad.

The Era of Over Reaction
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) oh yeah... I also hate Twitter and its effect on Modern America. thread is full of taking the lowest common denominator and proposing it as the sole virtue. twitter is fantastic.

The Era of Over Reaction
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Quite frankly, I don't give a rats as* what Bill in Baltimore thinks about the economy. But then neither will anyone else. There's no obligation to read what everyone is publishing. The potential of the internet is the true "marketplace of ideas". I, personally, think the analysis and dynamic writing of the blogosphere will provide as good of journalism as newspapers did. The reaction of "I just want to know what happened, not to know what to think" perspective is strange, arguments and analysis are just as important to look at with critical thinking as normal reports. And so we also get these fascinating debates, such as what happened with Manzi (which i will look for the link), where a bit of analysis led across a huge debate across many blogs. No one person was right, and it's up to critical thinking to decide your own views. BUt, if not for blogs and Harper's, who the hell would be covering the gitmo suicides? No network or anyone is covering it. Edit: It looks like sullivan had a pretty good link to 4 peoples reactions in the debate here: Chait v. Manzi It was an analysis of whether social democracies in Europe came at the cost of a share in world economic power.
