sigh realizing how much our drafts are going to be boring.
-
He was definitely good in the cape but his k rate also exploded so may be something to watch for in bigger competition.

Seems like the seniors the sox picked have performed well in wood bat leagues. I wonder if we'll hear these guys were good value that got screwed by last years pandemic backup

We got a ranked player again! Brooks Baldwin The Colonial Athletic Association player of the year hit .347/.406/.621 this year, marking the second straight year that he’s posted a .900-plus OPS. The switch-hitter should be able to remain a plus hitter in pro ball, with plenty of bat speed and line-drive oriented swings that produce extra-base hits in the gaps more than home runs. An above-average runner, Baldwin has played second base, shortstop, third base and all three outfield spots. He is best in the outfield, where he has an above-average arm and average range, but he may profile best at second base. Baldwin turned down the Giants in the 15th round last year. He was even better this year, and a strong performance in the Cape Cod League should further help his draft stock.

Baez, C out of ASU, who is a weird utility catcher, goes to MN Twins

I'd love to know what these draftsa re like in the room. I can't remember a draft where our best pick of day 3 was round 11. Does negotiating not begin in earnest until the first round starts? It's so weird.
-
he is not on ba500 or mlb 250, but he did hit pretty well as a 21 year old in ACC .347/.425/.599 with 13 hrs. Transfer from SE louisiana

It's the big event of the summer! Also you can't find it because everything is still promoting the home run derby

per Fegan, Peyton Pallette is overslot.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.

listened to the Rosenthal podcast yesterday and had an interesting point. Taking on Strasburg has been a popular idea - but Stras has a no trade clause. If paired together its effectively handing over the power of where Soto can be traded to Boras (who reps both). Thought that was interesting. He said Corbin would be the better salary dump. -
But he's a lefty.

this article is an excellent reminder that baseballtradevalues is the worst baseball site to happen to the internet: https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2022/7/19/23269038/juan-soto-trade-ideas-rumors-yankees-dodgers-padres-giants -
wouldn't mind nabbing Kirschsieper out of U of I Some discussion on getting good defensive players who can hopefully learn to hit. Colby Shade out of Oregon may be that. Since it seems they are targeting power, Nolan Schubert as a flyer HS would be interesting. He's huge, yankees should probably go after him: HT: 6-6 | Wt: 210 | B-T: L-R Commit/Drafted: Oklahoma State Age At Draft: 18.1 Schubart is a physical, lefthanded hitting outfielder with significant power potential. Listed at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Schubart was one of the more impressive power bats at last summer’s Perfect Game National showcase. That power should continue to get louder as Schubart fully fills out a frame that has more room for strength, but it also comes with significant swing and miss. His bat path can get lengthy and while it is leveraged for power with uphill loft, it can get too steep at times as well. He’ll need to show power in-game, as he’s a definite corner outfield profile, with below-average running ability and average arm strength. Schubart is young for the class and could be a difficult sign away from Michigan.

you missed on the elk burger joke. The joke is you are using elk meat for the patty.

Your daily camilletti

He was mid 90s before the shoulder, then was low 90s. 100 sounds uncommon. God MVP 03 was the best though. I put it on the lowest difficulty and hit 120 homers with Griffey
-
stay out of my lane.

Definitely. I'm going to be Camilletti's biographer at this point. Or at least tik tok influencer focused exclusively on camilletti content.

hmm, maybe expand it so that AAA is still team affiliated. Prior to the draft, there is a rule 5 type draft where teams choose their 40, and other teams can choose to grab unprotected players. However, you can only draft players into open positions on your 40 man. So if you want to participate in the draft, you have to be at 38 prior to the draf.t Then there is a 2 round draft similar to the NBA.

I am now pro-Elko. I apologize. This is crazy: https://theathletic.com/3379458/2022/06/23/college-world-series-ole-miss-tim-elko/?source=emp_shared_article

to be fair he's only 23, and is a real 23 year old unlike old man Turner.

oh wait sorry I can't do dates, he tore his ACL last year...I don't know if it's still torn.
