that actually sounds harder

friends of the park will not look kindly to the cities proposed plans of increasing amenities that may bring more people to the park, which goes against its main purpose of looking pretty for lakeview condo owners.

dalquist might net us a bounce back middle reliever. He has very little value.

I still think Vaughn hurts us in a way others don't. But I do get you are at least getting a real outfielder (yes hes bad this year) and a lh one.

I'd like sox to sign James Shields back for a day for this:
we were all there. Nothing we could do.

to be honest the pitchers (with a big caveat being our new free agents) have held up their end on availability. Maybe too much.

I think both are guys that know what it takes to be ready, teams know that, and both will try to wait for the first big tackle to miss significant time and make leverage there.

Colas 99th percentile might be current Juan Soto Juan Sotos 99th percentile is Barry Bonds

correct, helps against RHP not left. But considering: Eloy vs. RHP - 84 wRC+ Engel vs. RHP - 93 wRC+ Sheets vs. RHP - 96 wRC+ Pollock vs. RHP - 57 wRC+ And considering Engel/Sheets are backups, he doesn't hurt us. I do think Happ is a perfectly fine addition, but I just don't see reynolds as likely. If I was Cherington I'd rather wait until the offseason and see if he has a nice 2nd half.

would also prevent the Guardians from getting Sean Murphy. And what will happen is the As take back Carlos Perez and him and Langeliers become the best catching duo in history.

BA org rankings of the teams in the running: Which three teams do you view as the favorites to trade for Soto? Padres 8 (21st in BA) Dodgers 7 (7th) Cardinals 3 (18th) Mariners 3 (1st) Mets 3 (16th) Rays 3 (2nd) Yankees 3 (11th) Giants 2 (17th) Blue Jays (19th) Brewers (25th) Cubs (15th) Rangers (9th) Red Sox (11th) Has nothing to do with farm rankings and everything to do with which orgs aren't run by cowards.

The bears are very interesting in my emotions. I so desperately believe they needed to clear the decks and re-set for a year, but it is very difficult to undercut Fields. But also, Fields was not Justin Herbert last year. Or anything close, and I also think it's prudent to not act like the guy is the future when he still hasn't shown that. But also he can't show it when you put this offense out there with him. But also great QBs can still show to be good in shitty offenses. But I would have been fine with shitty position players as long as they had given him strong oline. And man, this one could really be awful. I am holding out hope this FO/coaching staff are super oline whisperers, but this looks bad.

yeah, honestly funny to me that process. "shit we just lost literally the worst guard in football...now we should replace him with a good football player"

If the White Sox trade for Shohei Ohtani they have a chance
it is exhibit A that a team cannot build through free agency. The additional revenue the white sox make over their division should be plowed in a much more advanced player dev/scouting network, not just puffing our chests and signing a 4th middle reliever. The returns, they are a-diminishing. But I'm sure trout alone makes the angels look like excellent drafters over the decade.

If Boston are sellers...
He addresses the weakness of hitting the shit out of the ball which no one on the team comes close to him. yes in theory, Grandal should not be hitting 40 wRC+ but for 3 months maybe we let his legs be super resty.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.
If the Cards acquire Soto though, can we please stop giving them comp picks and instead give them to the true charity case of the MLB, the white sox? Change the CBA to be "competitive balance picks go to the ten smallest markets by metro population or any team owned by Jerry Reinsdorf"

I knew I liked you.

this is what hurts to me. I know the sox aren't getting soto for a million reasons. What I dislike is that i'd much rather sox save bullets for players like these than the million marginal players that end up being so expensive for them. They add up. When Turner became available, the sox weren't there. When Betts was available, the sox weren't there. And of course, not getting them gave them the flexibility to add *chortles*. I remember post Abreu signing, where we heard a lot about how even though they were unlikely, Sox were pushing hard to get Tanaka offering different creative deals. I really miss and just wish they still had that in them. Because now it's the sox still being supremely confident that they know better than the rest of the league, and they don't.

Bears sign Michael Schofield, who played for the Chargers last year at G. Big relief, though now that we are basically at camp I have come to grips with this being the worst bears roster since 2016 I think. PFF did grade him slightly higher than Whitehair, so legit depth.

I'd like sox to sign James Shields back for a day for this:
I kept thinking about this article I read back during the time when we were all talking about how Tatis would bust because he had a high K rate as a 19 year old in AA, and how Shields may have panned out only because he helped fix giolito or something I can't remember anymore But boy, boy do I wish someone would say this to our trainers and some of our position players: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/wil-myers-credits-turnaround-to-james-shields-telling-him-to-quit-being-a-baby/ Again, the full story has many more details and it’s worth a read. Myers later said it was the best advice anyone had ever given him. What followed was Myers blossoming into a star. And as we all know, now Myers is one of the games biggest stars. I think Cueto could also play this role. Guy is 300 years old, had no spring training, came back and shows up every 5 days and slings it, with a bunch of 23-25 year olds that need to be rested every 3rd day and don't have to run to first. (I definitely 100% think this is our overzealous new training staff, but we need a player to push back meow.)
