  1. why not get rid of pablo so mack is of more use to us, and he can take over infield spots more, where his subbing there would give us more power instead of a slap hitter like ozuna.
  2. honestly i really don't see us trading him. This whole thread scares me but i really doubt we trade him.
  3. i will add my name to remembering the offseason before 05 to be very positive around spring training. heck, if i remember correctly, as soxfest wasn't that the year where kenny was "blown away" at how positive the response was? But reading that i'm having trouble remembering one thing, it keeps mentioning the "walker signing", was that the terrible relief pitcher we had in 04? i'm not remembering following that that offseason.
  4. i wish ozzie was just pulling our chain because this is absolutely ridiculous. We've all heard that he is an 'honest manager', and i think it's pretty shady to say its a competition for CF and then hand it to a rusty vet whose underperformed and could be a detriment to the team.
  5. QUOTE(Damen @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) Reviewing the new andrew bird or modoest mouse anytime soon? yeah, i'm getting killed in my journalism class though. New modest mouse later, andrew bird sooner. Love the dosh angle on the new Abird.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) Can't guarantee I'll be able to sit @ the computer for the whole game, but I'll contribute what I can. Gameday Audio I'm on, appears only the Oakland feed is available today. Ozuna goes 2-0 and doubles to teh wall in LF. Cintron can't get a bunt down, but grounds out to 2nd. Runner to 3rd. nice guy!!!
  7. i plan on balta somehow doing play by play fer me.
  8. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) My major point was that right now, on March 20th, we not only have no idea who are fifth starter is going to be, but we have no major league depth at the starting pitcher position vs. the last two seasons, when we had 5 seasoned starters going into the year (El Duque was the fifth starter in 05, Vazquez in 06). In the beginning portion of the season it's not likely to make as much of a difference, but if Contreras goes down for three weeks or so, what the hell is our rotation going to look like? We were already counting on: a) Contreras not to age much and hopefully still have lightening in a bottle left B) Buehrle returning to form c) Garland not going through the same April-May as last year d) Vazquez being improved now on top of that, we're counting on all being healthy AND getting a serviceable .500 ish pitcher out of the fifth slot from this erratic (read: motley) crew? Again, I like Danks for 2008 but he needs a few more ticks in the oven, no? When I look at the list of what we're counting on from this unit this year, about 5 different alarms go off in my head. This could either go really well if we can stay healthy and get career avg numbers from all our starters, or it could derail and get really really ugly really really quick. counting on buerhle, garland and vazquez being healthy is not far fetched.
  9. who was that short white outfielder for the royals that in 04 kept making ridiculous catches against us and hitting all over us? also...anyone planning on going to the sox @ royals game on april 20-22 i believe are the dates?
  10. man i don't like this. I hope it works out, but i hope we don't dig ourselves a hole in april before we figure out it doesn't work.
  11. is this eminem thing gonna stick? mine is the same as baltas. i'm so excited that logan came back. The legend will show up.
  12. i'm sorry that floyd having a great day and danks having two poor innings but knowing what he did wrong doesn't shock me. I see nothing here that is discouraging.
  13. danks honesty probably won't last that long so these quote are pretty awesome. He seems real cool. That third article makes me root for all of 'em though.
  14. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) I'm really digging Ola Podrida - Ola Podrida. And if anyone cares, the new version of MediaMonkey is glorious. ooo i had no idea. thanks!
  15. QUOTE(zimne piwo @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 05:38 AM) Just loaded the DVD player and watched "Inning #6" again last night, let's just say that despite how great the first two ALDS games were, that was the defining moment where I first thought "hey, we're going to win this whole thing!!!" Let's not forget that El Duque didn't stop there and pitched two more fantastic innings after that!!! very true. He was so on during the playoffs it was incredible.
  16. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 02:43 AM) I don't think that's true. When Crede first made the big leagues, he seemed to be pretty overwhelmed at the plate and not very aggressive to me (and that's not criticism -- I can't even imagine what it's like to try to hit at the big league level). I think that's probably how a lot of players are early in their careers. Lots of players have recovered from terrible starts in the bigs, and lots of players haven't. At this point, I think its too early to write Anderson off. Given the health problems of Pods and Erstad, I'd hope the Sox don't ship BA off just yet. the august before crede tore it up one september i think 03 maybe, crede was up in bases loaded situations seemingly everyday and kept popping it up to ss. I remember one game i attended he had two such situations and the same thing happened.
  17. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Well Let me submit this inning... 8th Inning vs Houston 2005 World Series Game 1 4-3 White Sox... Tavarez doubles off Contreras Cotts replaces Contreras Berkman singles off Cotts... Cotts then K's Ensberg on straight gas...1 out (OK now a DP gets us off the hook) Cotts then K's Lamb (13 straight Fastballs from Cotts to the 2 hitters)... Jenks replaces Cotts to face Bagwell Burke runs for Berkman Burke steals 2nd on 0-2 After several foul balls with the go-ahead run in scoring position ...Jenks K's Bagwell...Crowd goes wild!! Lead perserved, Sox add insurance in the 8th, the sweep started IMO a better IP and more important IP than El Duque, but it did take 2 P's i was amazed at how little coverage this got in the dvds. Seriously incredible inning in an overall great game. but the el duque one was absolutely insane. Funny story, when he struck out damon i thought he had walked him, and i was screaming and swearing when everyone else was cheering, it took me a second to adjust and then acted like my swearing was the good kind.
  18. yeah, pretty surf rock-ish. Better than his last but not as good as tyranny of distance.
