  1. I swear we saw last week that he was about to report to W-S soon but still nothin
  2. Dang good for JBJ who has straight up doubled his OPS+ this year. He went from 34 to 68 so far.
  3. I AM CHICAGO WHITE SOX JUST IMAGINE I AM CHICAGO WHITE SOX
  4. This was the note from BA in the latest update (may 2022) But yeah how proficient that is remains to be seen.
  5. I feel like they are going to force wednesday to happen, I don't think they'll want a double header before a travel day. I hope they PPD until September, I have tickets wed I can't get rid of since everyone sees the forecast.

    2022 Catch All

I've been reading on my phone a lot, I should just get that. It looks like the murderbot diaries are on kindle unlimited. I know that name sounds very stupid, but it's a tongue-in-cheek name and a series that had me actually laugh out loud many times. Also very short reads. Not sure the whole series is on unlimited but the first few are and I highly recommend unless science fiction is completely not your bag.
  7. During a white sox game the benches cleared after a yankees player called Tim Anderson 'Jackie' and white sox players and their manager took offense. Posters have been talking about it, many within the rules, while others start calling people pieces of garbage. So threads end up locked. If this was between the Reds and Pirates, it wouldn't be in PHT. But as always, feel free to send all moderator complaints to @Kyyyyle23. That's kyyyyle with 4 y's.
  8. He's definitely a hall of famer, he was head and shoulders above the rest for a long time. But man does finishing a career like this take off some luster, especially from these number milestones. He hasn't been a positive offensive player since 2016. That's Tim Anderson's entire career ago before he was just a slightly above average player. It's been a decade since he was good, and more than that since he was Pujols. It's easy to say "you can't take away from what he accomplished his first 11 years" but it does absolutely take it away. Same with the sad, slow ending of Griffey. You just wish everyone could have a Posey like ending, or Beltre.
  9. Yeah I think Keuchel Opener would be better just for the lefty/righty velo change mid -game.
  10. So seems like this list is just coming out since a lot of guys that opened the year would lose eligibility. Guessing the update is just sliding guys up from their preseason list. MLB.com imo is a bunch of followers anyway. Excited for BA mid-season drop and BP.
  11. Honestly our web site was as bad if not worse.

    Homeowning!

    Terrible advice ?
  13. On the other hand if you didn’t set up this roster with Josh Harrison and Leury as your two big offseason additions then the manager wouldn’t be using them daily.
  14. Gotcha. I don’t think Kevin cash can make the Bham rotation passable. Sosa and Cespedes are a good watch but even then the rest are mostly old MiLB free agents. These huge chasms in talent between systems is revealing. But it’s nice seeing Charlotte with some fun watches every night at least.
  15. Yes these are all good points. I guess I’m just swimming blind because we have been just such an older system for so long that the only “guy blew up” stories are your 24-27 year olds (yermin was another I realize now). I think Yolmer was the last guy to really blow up in Birmingham back in 2012 when buddy bell promoted guys for not pissing down their legs until they were crushed.
  16. He's a good boy. We love him. It is exciting as I can't remember many near-age-appropriate guys who hit well in Birmingham and fell on their face in Charlotte, and it feels like the successful ones all made it up to the majors at some point. Mendick and Sheets both provided that "not amazing but they hit X home runs in Birmingham?" before pulling of some pretty good AAA campaigns and moving up. Romy lit up AA, made a cup of coffee in a year. But Romy, Adolfo were amazing campaigns last year yet pale in comparison to this. This is the kinda stats that Eloy/Robert put up. (Right now it's better) It is early though. I think it's fine for him to get some 300 PAs down here before moving him. Romy started off en fuego, cooled for a bit, then adjusted. But he can move up too. Who cares.
  17. Absolutely bizarre he gets punished for just joshin his best friend.
  18. Would be funny if JR was the most deliberate and in-control kinda player

I am not amazingly handy so I'd say while it is true that you can save oodles of money fixing things yourself, it is going to take some time to get there. Start small with stuff you are sure you can do confidently, and see how you feel about your quality of work before committing. There have also been small tasks that by the time I bought all the equipment cost about the same as if I'd paid. That's great if it's something you'll repair a lot, but not so great if it was a one-off. We handled a lot of the painting when we first moved in. I had done that as a summer job. But slowly I've built more things in the house. Youtube is your friend, it's honestly incredible how much product and version specific stuff is out there. One thing I'd say is I was surprised and pleased at how relatively simple and cheap toilet fixes were. That was something my dad always called a plumber for. But there's not that much in there, and the replacement parts are plentiful and cheap. By contrast, I've completely messed up a bathroom faucet that I tried to replace. Had to get all new hardware. Anyway I'd say just ask your neighbors for people they trust in terms of handyman and HVAC. Use youtube and plan liberally. Other than that you are just going to figure out for yourself what your tolerance is.
  20. Great conversation as always but I think it's time.
