  1. They'll probably be fine and it is cool they are investing and getting used to the mechanisms and language. But it really is gross on tiktok now, a lot of really dangerous, stupid stupid (incredibly stupid) stuff. It really is a 1) everyone buy this 2) prices go UP 3) Profit! thought process without a thought as to who they'll sell it back to when it's time. But I doubt/hope many of the younger kids involved are doing it on margin.
  2. Man Odorizzi is underrated here. If we signed him, he ain't getting replaced. He's doin the replacin. That guy is gonna get a multi-year, 14/yr+ type contract and he deserves it.
  3. anyone in 1b, my sister-in-law got one in (manufacturing)
  4. I don't want to act like this is wishful thinking. This is profoundly depressing. But baseball is particularly fun to look for rebound guys, so here this all is. I mean we are going to look back at this thread and these guys are likely all 100% awful or not in the league.
  5. I don't know why, I just feel so bad for that guy. To fall off a cliff right when your team arrives, has to just be the worst feeling.
  6. Isn't the fact that Melvin Capital was able to secure billions to cover themselves proof that they didn't borrow more than they could cover? I don't think people have an actual grasp on how much risk some of these day traders can take on. I remember last year someone was leveraged millions without putting barely anything down (here it is: https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/robinhood-infinite-leverage-free-money-cheat-user-1-million-2019-11-1028661632)
  7. I feel like this is something that owners absolutely care about, but if I'm forced to trade watson, I feel like your #1, #2, and #3 obligation is get as much back possible to get a winning team together.
  8. So we're at this point of the season. 1) Jimmy Nelson Dodgers liked him enough last year to give him a shot, based on his bullpens in milwaukee post shoulder ripping off his body. His fastball was slower at 92, but he featured a much better curveball. Then he hurt his back and womp womp was out for 2020 so we don't know, then the dodgers didn't pick up his option that wasn't that expensive. Not a good sign! but this is GARBAGE DUMP PITCHERS 2) Folty He completely lost his fastball and was awful. But what this post presupposes is...maybe he didn't? JK He's probably trash 3) Matt Moore He was really good to start 2019, then tore his meniscus. He was really good in the NPB last year, and wikipedia says he's a free agent. Remember when he was really good way back when? Probably still is. 4) Trevor Williams There is only one number that matters here, he is 29. That is not particularly young, but hey. Pirates pitchers that had some talent started to do better last year. Not williams, he was garbage. But maybe he won't be. 5. Anibal Sanchez So his fastball declined a full mph into the danger zone of below 90 last year. The only thing that I think is optimistic about a 37 year old pitcher with a LOT of mileage, is if he isn't completely done, wouldn't it make sense that perhaps it was due to the start/stop/start/stop of 2020? No? Probably right. 6. Chase Anderson - Objectively horrible last year but his stuff still looked fine? People barrelled up everything. Maybe we can just say "2020 shrug"? Thank you for your time. And before you ask "what about?". If they are good, they are not allowed here! Other guy I thought about: Tommy Milone.
  9. 50k+ again. 50k a day puts us on track for phase 1c by April 1 like they planned. BTW, if anyone is trying to get appts for their 65+ family in chicago area, I highly recommend just keeping track of the Jewel/Osco (albertsons) website. They let you search across locations for ALL DATES easily. It will probably be full when you look, just keep refreshing and checking back, they do update for cancels and re-schedules. Good luck!
  10. good newsletter this morning from joe weisenthal calling this an "upcrash"
  11. "Citadel made a deal with Robinhood to short their position and then close all purchases" 100000 likes 50000 RTs The unprecedented volatility made it increasingly expensive to settle 4 likes 10 rts
  12. Yes, but if you aren't that, you won't show up in his rankings often.
  13. I don't think they are trying to be ken rosenthal. Rosenthal only publishes stuff very likely to happen. This is a gossip account, not a news account. And gossip is ok, it has a place. Like all gossip accounts, they are very annoying, believe the attention they get is actually because of their own personality, and often wrong. But damn if it isn't entertaining when you are obssessed with something like we are with the sox.
  14. for the billionth time we dont' need people copy-pasting chain emails from their uncle.
  15. I'll actually say as someone that follows their tweets that I think saying "he went from cruz to wainwright" is unfair. The cruz stuff was led by gomez, and I don't ever remember the cheesy beef account going over their skis and listing anyone but the twins as the favorites. Same with Wainwright, it was always that cards were most likely. That's fine for me just to read a fuckjerry-like account that sources sox rumors. Could it be possible that people tied to sox thought they were interested in cruz . . . and cruz went with a different team? No, no way. Everyone feels like a hero talking crap about these accounts but honestly if you had a general feeling for how the white sox operated and followed only these accounts you'd have a decent expectation for how this offseason would go. My impression of the sox front office is they are incredibly optimistic about their chances to do stuff that they don't have the resources for.
  16. looks like good ole fashioned etrade still executes them.
  17. What was actualy going to happen though? A bunch of people believing the perpetual motion machine joining at the end and losing a bunch of money. I don't buy the "good ole boys gonna throw the redditors in jail". Their plays have been pretty creative uses of options to create gamma squeezes before, but this took on a life of its own. They weren't doing market manipulation. But in the last day? I've been seeing on tiktok and twitter make statements that could easily qualify as lying in their telling people to keep bidding. At that point, the people who were going to get hurt weren't hedge funds (they were already hurt).
  18. For pitchers it's a lot about body though. He's not going to rank an under 6 ft RHP often. Not a lot of lanky dudes, he doesn't like side arm. He likes tall pitchers with good athleticism that have a clean delivery. That was his only rationale for staying with Giolito, and the reason Giolito was able to reinvent himself? Because he had a basleine to work with of being a very athletic 6'6 frame that gave him great deception with his fb/changeup arsenal while allowing him to re-do his delivery in an offseason.
