Miami or Jets for sure. But if I'm him I certainly would want SF or Indy. I also wouldn't hate getting paired with Jefferson in Minny ? As I have said, I can't pretend to know what to do with QB. I'll ride with @Chisoxfn 's takes as they are optimistic and I can only take so much bears dredge. Tua, Wentz, Darnold all scare me. I don't know that I can handle uncertainty unless from a guy whose clock is up quickly. And If I'm Houston, I think I'd rather go after the 3rd qb than Tua? That is a disaster for the Lions.

Looking at all the dumbest people on twitter complaining about this, I feel safe saying the people helped today by trading restrictions were not wall street.

After Giolito and Lopez beat my estimate for arb I took the high end for the rest of they guys but we will see.

Keith Law's Top 100, 2 White Sox make the list

when has Law ever put bullpen guys on his top 100 though? He isn't going to start for Garrett Crochet. -
Keith Law's Top 100, 2 White Sox make the list
bmags replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in FutureSox Board
He liked Moncada (top 20), Giolito (when no one else still did), Eloy (top 10), Robert (top ten) and Kopech (kept in top 50), and now Vaughn (top 10). Tim Anderson was still top 100. This seems like a pretty accurate summation of the sox top prospects. He was low on Lopez when BA/MLBP were high on him. Check. Here were his thoughts on Cease: Ryan: What are your thoughts on Dylan Cease? Results at the big league level have not been great so far. Can he be a top of the rotation guy? Keith Law: I don’t think he was ever a top of the rotation guy … when he was throwing super hard, he couldn’t stay healthy. I get questions like this a lot, but I wonder why it’s always about “ace” or “top of rotation?” If he’s an above-average starter, that’s a huge win for the team – those guys cost a mint in trade or free agency. And I think Cease can be that, given time. Keith Law has really proven to be the one worth reading. Yeah, currently the sox lack high end talent, we agree with that. His rankings agree with that. But the good news is he thinks Vaughn is a top 10 guy, he has been great with grading hitters. Vaughn should be a star. I remember thinking he was way too infatuated with Dom smith for too long. Then Dom Smith started destroying the ball. And let's not even bring up he who must not be named, whom he put on his top 50 before anyone and we all said he was just trying to embarrass hahn. He's the best evaluator by far. And to me he is like Ebert. He has his type, he describes his type, and you should go into things knowing that if they aren't his type he won't like it. And some of those dudes will be an outlier and make him look silly. -
They definitely have a progressive rate, he's going to be paying a 45% rate on quite a bit of his income. I think the flat tax of 10% is to account for their workforce that works in multiple countries, and their japan income would get at least 10%. But they have a progressive personal income tax.

Good god, sorry, I don't actually think they are "surprised". But the way they operate looks a lot more like a team that expects to be able to use FA as a major pipeline of talent when that is not the case. You'd thinkt heir offseason would have looked a lot more like San Francisco's than what they did.

I took ~10 million off for hendriks so that's where 120 comes from.
-
hmm, I don't think this is right.

I'm really grossed out by how MLB is so indifferent about other leagues being legitimate competition for top talent. Go NPB, keep retaining and taking mlb talent.

I continue to maintain that the bigger issue isn't Jerry's spending limits, it's that Kenny and Rick continue to act surprised by them. This is a team that has a lot of cheap talent. Thankfully, Hahn was able to lock them up so they can grow for years. But, all eyes for them need to be on drafting, INTL and development. I love having hendriks, but if you were to tell me the sox were going to roll with a 120 mill budget this year but they plan to take advantage of other teams cutting back in intl and going big with scouts and upgrading DR facilities, I'd say that's a good use of money. Sox with their farm have to get lucky. No regression from the guys that look like they'll be great, Vaughn and Kopech need to hit, and we need our young prospects to show a lot of promise this year to help us load up on ml cheap talent, if not use them.

Remember when for no reason at all the Sox fed nightengale to say they specifically NOT going to put a bid on for Harper after losing Machado? They knew they wouldn’t get him, but this made sure a fellow owner didn’t negotiate against themselves.
-
No no no. It’s that Jerry will not let his team be a bidding prop in the media because that raised players salaries. And suppressing salaries is Jerry’s #1 goal.

53k yesterday in IL. Monday was really low, but take the two day and it’s 40k/day. Fingers crossed for maybe 60k thurs/fri?

I have been wondering. If they've been able to lure back some of their big stars, wouldn't Nelson Cruz be a target?
-
OTOH for AMC they completed their secondary, so at the very least they were able to get some capital.

I think sox aren't so wrong with their approach they just need to make sure to have depth in SP that can actually pitch 5 IP even if its a 4 ER game. I'm starting to feel like of offense, starting pitching, bullpen, and defense, you can have the most slack with defense and be good (see dodgers, nationals), then next would be starting pitching. But having excellent bullpen+offense seems to be where the top teams are ending up last several years. Then you have teams with one exceptional thing, like the Nats starting pitching being able to pull forward its lackluster bullpen and defense. But Reds with just great starting pitching? Was able to pull into an expanded playoff field.
-
I wouldn't be that surprised, you don't think they are trying for odorizzi or tanaka?
-
uh yeah its at 21 premarket.
-
I guess we'll need Vaughn to go the TA route and try at catcher, otherwise he's going to struggle for playing time.
-
cubs are definitely still contenders in that division.
-
We'll know more mid season. A lot of interesting guys are 18-19 and we haven't seen in over a year.

Salaries in nov/dec seemed to have a 20% haircut. Now? Seems like there is some more optimism with vaccines and fans in park no

They did it to hurt me. No other reason.
