Lopez' high 2019 inning total would have not happened on any competitive team. But it's what will be pointed to. "If we could just forfeit every other fifth game"

Market/Financial Thread
At this point, it's a pump and dump trying to leave other lower info retail investors with the bag. This rich vs. poor stuff is silly. The wsb reddit is not a bunch of poors, they have insane risk tolerance but have a decent amount of capital to put up as well. At this point its a bunch of people being sold lies that there will be people on the other side of their sale. Eventually there will not.

I'm fine with explanation that they wanted cost certainty at that position to move into the rest of the offseason. But, as much as I love Hendriks, the rest of the offseason wasn't proven to help that much to me. With JBJ and Joc out this late, there were going to be acceptable RF, which is all Eaton is. But whatever, he's probably going to be fine, his high OBP does balance our lineup ok, and hopefully he doesn't regress horribly. But I'd have preferred Joc, and RF was his best position so I think saying his D was just as bad as schwarber is silly.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
It's true but I just think if we went back 6 months and said 2 vaccines would be available in Jan that prevent all hospitalizations and deaths even with the new variant that would be great news, because it is. That Moderna and pfizer were so exvellent just means we can deploy them to our most at risk populations (which we have). Just amazing performance by these biomed/pharma research and companies.

We'll see price, makes sense to swap out scharbs for joc though, basically Schwarbs with better D.

novavax & j&j in two days is great. I don't want to hear any qualifiations about this efficacy. Great great news https://www.statnews.com/2021/01/29/jj-one-dose-covid-vaccine-is-66-effective-a-weapon-but-not-a-knockout-punch/

I kinda want some poster to take the mantle of believing bears will get watson, making packages, etc. I want to read about it and dream on it without getting made fun of mercilessly.

Market/Financial Thread
They'll probably be fine and it is cool they are investing and getting used to the mechanisms and language. But it really is gross on tiktok now, a lot of really dangerous, stupid stupid (incredibly stupid) stuff. It really is a 1) everyone buy this 2) prices go UP 3) Profit! thought process without a thought as to who they'll sell it back to when it's time. But I doubt/hope many of the younger kids involved are doing it on margin.

Man Odorizzi is underrated here. If we signed him, he ain't getting replaced. He's doin the replacin. That guy is gonna get a multi-year, 14/yr+ type contract and he deserves it.
