  1. ye gods, maybe we are finally turning the corner in Illinois. While testing again declined, only 1,266 cases reported on 12500 tests, a 10% positive rate, after a decline yesterday put it at 12%, which was a 2% decline from the day prior. It is unlikely to be this precipitous, but we've had a number of successes from the 20k tests in a day a few days ago to real declines for the first time in a month. https://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/covid19-statistics
  2. I'm applauding them for starting with a revenue sharing model rather than dealing with % cuts to individual salaries which is where I thought it would start. Them haggling up front with this makes me feel very hopeful.
  3. I may be wrong and I cna't find the article, but I'm fairly certain that on average mlb players do better than 50% revenue in their salaries. This is almost certainly a pay cut on %, and obviously will be a cut to the overall pie.
  4. If govt wants people wearing masks, they should set up trucks in front of grocery stores passing out masks. Government has made compliance incredibly onerous on individuals. When you want a lot of people to do stuff you make it easy to do stuff.
  5. 50/50 is fine. NBA players get 52%. I applaud both sides for doing this though, it certainly makes most sense but it sucks.
  6. Why do you think South Korea was the most draconian? They were a success of testing and tracing, not shutdowns. Their shut downs have been targeted. They are literally playing baseball right now.
  7. Anyone else feel like the owners going with the most restrictive form of the draft despite it being seemingly against their own interests was mostly just done to signal to players that yes, the owners will burn it all down rather than give in to labor demands.

  9. There's like four of those screwed in my basement too. It's wild but also pretty rad the 1x per year it comes up.
  10. I get why you said that, I just think it's a difficult gamble this year because it's hard to bank on depth later on. Now, teams actually get to discuss this stuff with players so they'll have a better idea. And money is money, at the very least you have a better shot to guarantee players later on. Just seems like this is a draft where it's easy to justify playing it safe with what's in front of you (if sox had kelley and another player rated the same at 11...I'd go with the other guy).
  11. I think Greg mentioned he lives in Iowa.
  12. I just wonder how well expensive it will be able to convince preps now. The deferred earnings make it a lot easier to justify school. Obviously, it's still guaranteed money. On top of that you aren't much more likely to get training in mlb camps than you would college. I'd imagine there's going to be a premium, but there will be a lot of college talent for cheap that may sign in FA so it's definitely a strategy to go big for some young talent at risk of miscalculating and wasting some budget
  13. Looks great.
  14. Yes, pretty nervous about him. Probably the riskiest prototype in the draft.
  15. I don't know why mocks still intrigue me so much when there is so little influencing them. I think aside from veen, the hs outfielders and hjerstad are the least interesting to me at 11.
  16. When testing first surged upward on 4/23, we were at 17% positive. Testing has stayed relatively consistent and stubbornly moved downward, today finally being a nice sign of progress. Next up - 10%, then 3%.
  17. Seemingly good news today. While Sunday’s in Illinois often see lower reported deaths it’s cases and percentage positive aren’t always far off norms. New cases dropped to 1650 and tests dropped to 13500. Though it sucks seeing tests drop below 15k, this is a 12% positive rate - the lowest I’ve seen in a while in Illinois.
  18. I think Trubisky is our punishment for Portland taking Sam bouie and is getting Jordan.
  19. It is kind of remarkable that gio makes a case for the Sox package being best. Miller obviously great few years but kind of a guy you need to be in right position to value most.
  20. That was from a few weeks ago. It appears it just struggles with stored samples getting diluted. When used with swabs it’s supposed to still work and hopefully that’s the case.
  21. I ordered white Sox beer from binnys today out of an uncontrollable urge.
