  1. Interesting. Where did this get reported?
  2. I think it’s good. Relievers have become super expensive in arb. They paid him upfront to avoid paying him $19-$20 million in his arb years. Smooths the commitment out. The club options are a possibly nice to have but beside the point.
  3. While Giolito taking a step back would hurt, main thing we need to know is we do have competent depth this year. Would be much better to have to find clear upgrades next few years, not merely a starter
  4. I wish NFl would make it easy on us and call them the Oakland Raiders of Las Vegas (like UNLV) and the San Diego Chargers of Los Angeles
  5. I have a hard time seeing the players available that clearly upgrade the roster. I do hope we get some fun camp invitees soon (salazar)
  6. I thought for Ohtani the posting fee had to come out of the salary. Edit: I should say that I mean the posting fee was included in the agreement as counting toward the cap.
  7. Same, but also Stafford would be unbelievable, would be thrilled.
  8. Gore looks filthy. Him and Paddack may be a killer 1-2. But yeah, injuries could derail it easily. I think they are in pretty good shape but made some poor moves.
  9. saw Eloy at soxfest. Didn't look fat. He likely won't be ripped, but he wasn't fat. He may have been wearing a k-vest, may have made him stand up taller and push his stomach out. I don't know if any of you have worn shirts like that, not flattering to light
  10. Yeah...bad news. Hate this time of year.
  11. nice to see Gammons run interference for the red sox
  12. http://futuresox.com/2020/02/18/the-white-sox-are-eyeing-cuban-prospects-in-international-marketplace/ One - incredible work James. Two - I know some here will prefer Colas, but I'm just so happy to see this multi-front aggression for talented players. All these guys have real potential, some have even ability to be a piece sooner than later. It's such a breath of fresh air.
  13. love this. @southsider2k5 was nice enough to invite me to a game last year where I brought my son. Twins blew us out with 15 homers, I can't even remember who started (Covey? Despaigne?) but had an absolute blast with my son. Don't get to watch as much of the game, but watching him fall in love with baseball is worth it.
  14. Yeah I haven’t been to many classics, but went to a great Red Sox v White Sox game where Pedro went head to head vs Frank Thomas in an epic 11 pitch at bat with the bases loaded. Pedro Kd him on a disgusting pitch. Crede then hit a 3 run HR a few innings later and we won. for pure HOF fire power, I’ll never forget that. Also saw a great game vs Indians where Sox were up like 8-0, Indians tied it, then Jose Valentin walked them off.
  15. Regardless, down for a very fast 16 year old.
  16. We don't have a great leadoff hitter anywhere or one coming up. I think Moncada is probably one of the better ones we could do but I don't like him first.
  17. Well he already was the invisible VP then when his gm sucked he went back to being visible then it turned out he was also bad and now he's back to being invisible...when he should just be gone. Michael Reinsdorf has just grown up around these guys and they are his family now, it's like asking Billy Madison to fire Carl.
  18. Jon Greenberg made a great point. The bulls are now pointing to the White Sox org structure as a model to follow, but when the sox did it they were pointing to the bulls (paxson vp, forman gm) as a model to follow. You are right though, they have less baggage than knicks despite all of this. Giving the reigns of the freakin bulls over to someone can get you some top talent. But this just seems like a lot of strings. Raid the clippers/Nuggets or truly go after Rapts with all of the goodwill money pax has given you. Pax kept saying he would resign if he couldn't do job then accepting this new role is hilarious to me.
