Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Fairly favorable ranking for Ozuna after fielding bible metric updates for DRS http://fieldingbible.com/DRSLeaderboard It appears that filters don't save in the URL,, but I filtered for LF. Don't control+F for eloy.

I guess the point would be that it's your job and they do not have perfect information that it will not work so they may as well bid.

Joc Pederson - Is it goin down?
I think sox fans should focus less on a RFer being an upgrade from what they had (historically inept) and focus more on how they could use their resources to make RF an area better than anyone in their division.

I'm pretty sure no other good front office in the league would let that affect them not trying to sign a player they want and apparently could make budget for but are scared they'll be negotiated with.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
Yeah, feels like the rockies may as well be in England for as little reporting nationally as they get. I have no idea what their mindset is this offseason.

Haven't gotten to that part yet. His writeup of Mena is similar to that of Ronaldo Guzman who performed great last year so I'm excited to see how that goes.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
Those guys could maybe net an average middle reliever going into their FA year at midseason.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
Are there any pitchers you'd target? Seems like the most obvious fits I'd like unfortunately play in our division.

Got it. The sox are so scared of agents it's really quite something. They seem to take it personally when players negotiate with them after they think they've given a fair offer.

Chatwood is 12 mill, Kimbrel is 16mil. The others at that price are arb level.

I think I would still take cole and just play around with the 1 yr/10mill pool of pitchers.

@Y2Jimmy0 great questions here. Badler is so even keel in his articles and sticks to what was added rather than what wasn't, so interesting to hear him getting nailed down on how sox compare to other operations.

his contract is the least of their worries.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Said it before but the darvish contract is fine at this point and I'd be interested, but it's hard to know what cost of prospects would be.

Yeah...I thought they had brand new facilities for some reason.

Yes most deals don’t finalize for many reasons that can come up early or late. Attributing it to a leak is obviously BS because leaks happen all the time in baseball and no other GM goes around attributing it to deals falling through (because it doesn’t make sense as to how it could have been the sole cause). If one of the players had a bad medical...it would have shown up eventually.

It’s subjective...but there is also a process around it and owned within the franchise. Friedman gets outside info and overrules his own massive team below him?

And the white Sox knee the Indians traded information in this scenario...how.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
The odds of him being that far off on evaluating his own players value is far more unlikely than rick Hahn blaming Sox fans for things (which he does all the time).

Andrew Friedman is one of the best GMs in the league.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
I actually just don’t think that latter trade is at all likely. That is around $60 mill of salary with control issues on one and talent another. That would greatly reduce talent back.

Trade Market for Starting Pitchers...
I understood why people thought the Mets would trade Nimmo, but don’t get the rationale behind these trades. With the infusion of new cash I’m sure their plan is to keep Thor with degrom and keep adding, not trading for prospects.

Can’t wait to listen to this. Love everyone of the BA crew.

Love signing long term deals to players you’ll want to upgrade from by year 2.

Cole to the Yankees: 9 years, $324 million.
It’s interesting to see the big franchises that land top players often take the tact of letting it be publicly known they value the players worth instead of undercutting it and constantly trying to make sure everyone knows they don’t want to spend too much.
